This month marks two years since the attack on the WTC Twin Towers which killed nearly 3000 people in Nnw York. "This well became symbolic of the location of the British massacre.

Absent that knowledge, the textures and colors combine to create a rich visual presentation. Even the blurred wire grating in the foreground reaches to create form. Every time I revisit this work, I find some knew element to appreciate. While arguably datable, there is a timeless quality created by the intermixing of textures."

12.11.05AISA Imperialists and Their Agents Can Never Be Welcome in JNU ! .

Those v.ro orderbrutal attacks on v.orkers and fiddle while OaJithomes bum knowthat they are bound to foce resistance from JNU students-and this is something we in JNU should be proud of. In order to avoid facing JNU students' protest, Haryana CM BhupinderHooda skulked into the campus last night, withoutanypriorpublic announcement! But as soonas Hoodaentered the KC OAT, AISA activists got to know it notified the studentcommunityand began aspirited protest.joined by otherstudents. As a resultof the protest, which was laterjoined byother studentgroups too, Hooda was not allowed to give his speech while students told the 'Killer Hooda' to go back. The man whose police brutalised workers in Gurgaon to protect the interests ofthe MNC Honda, and watched Dalit homes be burntin Gohana ~Heretold byJNU students in no uncert.ajn terms that he was not INelcome I .

Itis highlydisturbing that the democratic protest by JNU students was violently assaulted by NSUIIeaders, who threw chairs at the protestors and tried to beatthem up. Hoodahad apparently been invited by agroup called 'ARK Foundation' to a'Youth Camp'-in which busloads of around a 1000people from outside the campus had attended. But it was disturbing to find that the JNU authorities and security officials seemed to have no idea that such alarge crowd ofoutsiders was expected and had no preparations to ensure that violence did not take place ! .

Earlier in the day, the Israeli Ambassador cancelled his visit to SIS in the face ofAISA's protest. There are those who claim that this was an academic evenr and should not have been protested. We maintain :Killers and their apologists cannot hide behind the mask of academic legitimacy. 'Nhen academics becomes a means to cover up the fact ofgenocide, it is crucially significant that students spoke out to protest! We ask : fn aclass on Gujarat's socio-economic condition, would we need the architecht ofGujarat genocide Narendra Modi or his representative to give afecture? Ifnot. why do we need a representative of Israeli PM Ariel Sharon to take aclass in JNU ?I .

It is notable that the SFI-AISF kept silent on this issue-possibly because they remember that their SL Convenor in 2002 had also invited the Israeli Cultural Attache to distribute prizes at aJNUSU cultural function! Of course, their parent parties, the CPI and CPI(M), while paying lip service to the Palestinian cause, see no problem with maintaining trade and defence relations with Israel at the same time! No doubt this is what prevents SFJ-AISF from protesting against a representative of the Israeli State. .

Oppose the PM Who Sings Praises for the.,British Raj and Dances to the Tune of the Bush Raj ! On 14 November, the HRD Minister Arjun Singh and the architect ofnee-liberal policies in India, PM Manmoh.an Singh have been invited by the Admin. to visit JNU. Protesting against Manmohan Singh's visit to JNU is not a mere ritual that Leftist student groups have to carry out When we raise our voice against the PM, it is no personal attack on Manmohan Singh, the man; We raise our voice agamst .

When Manmohan Singh utters pious platitudes to us on 'Children's Day': .

Will we not ask him, what about the children your men in uniform killed in Kupwara and Garo Hills? What about the children who are robbed of education because school and college have become unaffordable thanks to his Government's policies? .

When he speaks of 'democracy', won't we remind him of AFSPA, of POTA reincarnated as ULAPA and being used to crush .

dissent, of POTA victims continuing to languish in jails? .

.

Neo-liberal ideologue and World Bank pensioner, our PM visited our former colonisers and praised the British Raj as 'an act of enterprise. adventure, creativity'! Golonisers always called their loot and plunder 'enterprise' or 'free trade'; their wars of aggres-sion and occupation as 'adventure'; their brutal and bloody repression as 'creativity': shamefully, an Indian PM echoed these sweet words to give colonialism a 'human face'! .

Not surprisingly, he then went out of his way to make India a partner in the US' 'adventurous' occupation of Iraq and Palestine, its 'enterprising' loot of Iraqi oil, its 'creative' lies about WMDs in Iraq and nuclear violations in Irani .

Multinational capital and its agents in the Indian ruling class alike know that the 'hidden hand of the market will never work without a hidden fist'. If Manmohan Singh is the hand of the market-the benign 'Congress ka haath' _ the hidden fist has smashed the mothers of Manipur, the widows of 1984, the workers of Gurgaon! Let the cries of these struggling people echo in our slogans -when the PM comes to visit! .

Let us tell the 'gentlemen PM Manmohan Singh'-'Not allyourpiety noryour wit' can wash your hands clean ofthe bloodshedIn the killing fields ofthis country/ .

Jallianwala Bāġa Hatyākāṇḍ), also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place in the Jallianwala Bagh public garden in the northern Indian city of Amritsar, and was ordered by Brigadier-General Reginald E.H. Dyer. On Sunday 13 April 1919, Dyer was convinced that a major insurrection was at hand. He banned all meetings, and hearing a meeting of 15,000 to 20,000 people had assembled he marched his fifty riflemen to a raised bank and ordered them to shoot at the crowd which included men, women, and children. Dyer kept the firing up for about ten minutes. Official Government of India sources estimated the fatalities at 379, with 1,100 wounded. The casualty number estimated by the Indian National Congress was more than 1,500, with approximately 1,000 killed.[1]Historians consider the episode a decisive step towards the end of British rule in India.[4]

Day 02: Amritsar.

After morning breakfast, visit Golden temple in the morning. After visit to the temple, visit Jallianwala Bagh and summer palace of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In the afternoon, you will visit Wagah border ceremony. Drive back to hotel.

Day 03: Amritsar - Delhi (450 kms/7 hrs)

After morning breakfast, drive to Delhi and drop at your choice of place.

This wasn't there when I'd last visited the site way back in 1979. Part of the restoration of the Jallianwala Bagh memorial garden are these bushes shaped like the British soldiers firing. Being right next to the marker pyramid we saw in the previous picture, I can only assume that this is where the soldiers fired from. The 6.5-acre (26,000 m2) garden site of the massacre is located in the vicinity of Golden Temple complex, the holiest shrine of Sikhism. The memorial is managed by the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Trust, which was established as per the Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act, Act No. 25 of 1 May 1951 (in English), subsequently retrieved on 10 August 2016. For detailed notes about the Jallaianwala Bagh massacre see earlier pictures in this album. (see preceding images) (Amritsar, Punjab, northern India, Nov. 2017)
