9-4-2019 - Si José Ignacio Foces pregonó la Semana Santa de la capital, don Luis Argüello hizo lo propio con la de Medina del Campo, el 9 de abril, desde la iglesia de Santiago El Real.
Nuestro obispo recordó a los medinenses que las procesiones de Semana Santa no relatan la aventura de un héroe, ni son la expresión de un conflicto entre el poder y un rebelde, sino que rememoran un acontecimiento “redentor”, ya que la entrega de Cristo, “perdonando, rompe la cadena del pecado; su entrega desmedida hasta el final quiebra la argolla de la muerte”. Y ese acto redentor, recordó don Luis Argüello, establece una nueva propuesta ética: “los pecadores no pierden su dignidad, la misericordia permite poner encima de la mesa verdad, justicia y perdón; el amor experimentado se transforma en deber de amar; la tolerancia es hacerse cargo del peso del otro. El acontecimiento, al conmemorarlo se hace presente y nos convoca a renovar nuestras vidas, también se representa en iconografía e imaginería y funda una estética que atrae y conmueve”.

1999. While walking in NYC, I was approached by a man who claimed he needed a new muffler for his car. He took me into the car parts store and pointed to the muffler, it was $60, and he said he knew that was a lot for a stranger to pay, but it was what he needed, he wasn't scamming me, he said. If I could buy him that muffler, it would save his skin. I figured he might still be scamming me. Gonna turn right around and return it for the $60 and then spend that money on drugs. But *I* was gonna buy drugs with that money, so I didn't feel like I could really judge him for possibly doing the same. So I bought him his muffler. In return, he gave me a big, green brick of hash. This was a surprise, but again, I was pretty sure it was a scam. It was probably not hash, right? Well, it was. I got it checked out, it was safe, and damn if that muffler money hash brick didn't keep me and several friends happy until the turn of the millennium

I'm pretty sure these are just natural oil stains or something, but the one on the left looks like a bleeding Jesus and the one on the right looks like a demon.
