The only place I've felt was really my home is my cabin up north. There's something in the water there that connects me to that place. There's also this sense of isolation and loneliness about it that I've never been able to shake.

My first walk in isolation with my camera during the snowfall.

As always, many thanks for taking the time to view, fave and comment. That's very much appreciated

Stay safe!

Stripped of its companion buildings as well as its original purpose, a barn stands isolated. Meanwhile, a busy world passes it by without much regard. One of life's challenges as we age is to fight the sense of isolation and the lack of purpose once the activity of raising children and fulfilling a career no longer occupies our days.

Oh for a nice walk on Hadrian's Wall or the North Pennines, anywhere but the back garden

This photograph began life as an intended stitched together panorama. The light on the grasses and hills was extraordinary, thick and golden, an inky-blue sky above. I was driving across country to return to work for the week. Rushing, I snatched at the second shot in the group, blurring it, but left no overlap between the first and third images and didn't check on the screen.

This is a righthand square crop from the first image, the best I could salvage from a job badly done, made monochrome.

Taken from the roadside, the perceived distance is magnified by the wide angle and emphasis on the foreground, enhancing the hut's sense of isolation.

……A flower on the Chives that thinks it’s above all its peers - I cut it down to size for the group shot!! We are STILL staying securely ‘Locked Down’ AT HOME to stay safe and also to NOT be a vehicle to the virus, we could be or we could meet “stealth carriers.” - Covid-19 does not have legs (or wings) so obeying the 2 meter rule is sound advice too. Well, here we are, still in the garden. Chin up, it could be worse. Stay home, stay safe.

Another year, and this too shall pass. Wishing everyone a great 2023!

Infrared.......Another image from my day on Bodmin Moor. These locations are always good for finding isolated trees. You can just see the fir trees in the distance from my previous image. I was really pleased with the skies on this day, the weather was showery with great cloud formations when the rain cleared. Your feedback will be most appreciated.

An isolated cottage deep into the Bodmin Moor countryside

We came across this brightly coloured house by accident on our only bad weather day. Luckily we found it again on a much better day.
