The last time I saw these guys was days before lockdown.

A lot has changed during the ensuing months and I hope this pic is a portent of better things to come.

As always I extend my sincere appreciation to all those who take the time to stop by and comment on my photos.

Each winter I try to drive past this old vacant garage on a cold, blustery winter day as its lonesomeness is emphasized. It is a unique time in life when we reach an age when many of our peers begin to leave this planet. Our once large circle of family, friends and acquaintances begins slowly to dwindle and then accelerates with every passing year. The isolation that faces those whose partners have departed becomes one of life's greatest challenges.

A cobalt steely sundown looking towards Edinburgh with the distant Pentland hills still bearing their mantle of recent snowstorms

This image started with a photo from my travel to Wales, just an anonymous street in a little city.

I took it to Deep Dream Generator and Topaz Studio to illustrate a feeling amongst all the holiday cheer.

"A season of loneliness and isolation is when the caterpillar gets its wings. Remember that the next time you feel alone." ~ Mandy Hale

Taken at the entrance to the Oculus in 2016. It struck me at the time to take this rare photo in NYC with someone alone in a public space. Who knew how prophetic this scene would be.

thanks ALEC1097 for the title.

Your warm and tender heart that seems so far away

Well, here we are, still in the garden. Chin up, it could be worse. Stay home, stay safe.

Stripped of its companion buildings as well as its original purpose, a barn stands isolated. Meanwhile, a busy world passes it by without much regard. One of life's challenges as we age is to fight the sense of isolation and the lack of purpose once the activity of raising children and fulfilling a career no longer occupies our days.

Autumn at Greenhow Hill , North Yorkshire

The only place I've felt was really my home is my cabin up north. There's something in the water there that connects me to that place. There's also this sense of isolation and loneliness about it that I've never been able to shake.

Stay safe!

……The same trees as the last post but taken a little further down the road with a longer lens. A prime candidate for mono this one I thought. Hope you are having a great week and be sure to stay Covid safe, Alan;-)……

Oh for a nice walk on Hadrian's Wall or the North Pennines, anywhere but the back garden

……A flower on the Chives that thinks it’s above all its peers - I cut it down to size for the group shot!! We are STILL staying securely ‘Locked Down’ AT HOME to stay safe and also to NOT be a vehicle to the virus, we could be or we could meet “stealth carriers.” - Covid-19 does not have legs (or wings) so obeying the 2 meter rule is sound advice too. Alan:-)……

It's been too long, I've been alone, mm

I've seen too much to go back home

Light years away, away from you

Just hoping that I make it through

So who do I trust?

Don't look for me, there's no need to try

Just leave me behind

I know what it's like when they leave you to die

I got no where to hide

These drugs won't help me get out of my mind

I'll learn to survive

And find you if I make it out alive
