A late April snow sweeps through our area turning spring to winter overnight and a lonely tree braces the storm.
I want to wish you Easter greetings
This is the somewhat sad reality that I am trying to document, the isolation of these days.
My Easter is like this, isolated, a little sad, a little full of bitter smiles, but very real and where we are not missing food, the only comfort of forced imprisonment
Pasqua in isolamento
Even the turbulence of self-isolation and social distancing times opens new doors. Take care, keep in touch and don’t let the virus win over humanity.

The boredom of the country being on lockdown but still wanting to take photographs. Going to start a project over the next few weeks 'around the town' to see what things of interest I can find locally while we are only allowed out for for some exercise.
In the mean time, a self portrait.

I don't need no one
Splendid Isolation
Don't want to wake up with no one beside me
Don't want to take up with nobody new
Don't want nobody coming by without calling first
Don't want nothing to do with you
I'm putting tinfoil up on the windows
Lying down in the dark to dream
I don't want to see their faces
I don't want to hear them scream

My second image from our midweek trip up to Gorokan, to shoot this fantastic old jetty.
I was struggling for ages to come up with a title for this one, and then, miracle of miracles, my very good friend, and old bandmate of mine from many years ago in Ireland, released his latest song on his youtube channel, and boom there it was.
Thanks Noel for the inspiration. I must admit, the only song I knew from warren Zevon before this was Werewolves Of London, so, I must pull my finger out, and have a good listen to his catalogue.
I'll link Noels video below, if you want to check his channel out.
A great lifelong friend, and a fantastic voice and talent.
Hope you like "Splendid Isolation"
Cheers, Mike

Hi everyone, hope you all are getting through this pandemic safely the best way you can. What the world is going through with this is just beyond. I try to watch the news as little as possible these days as the numbers are truly staggering.
To change things up for myself, after staying home for weeks and weeks now, I found myself looking to have some creative fun and had an idea for an image. Being quarantined at home with my boys it was fairly easy to enlist my son Will to help bring it to life.
After finding this tunnel shot on a free stock photography site I went about getting Will posed and lit with two strobes. To match the atmosphere of the tunnel shot I used an orange gel on the strobe camera right and a blue gel on the strobe camera left.
As for the costume, that's Will's favorite hoodie, a very cool looking one I must say. And the gas mask? That's something I've had for many years and I dug it out for this.
I wish you all peace and look forward to getting past this as quickly, but most of all, as safely as possible.

This is a bit of a documentary photo taken in India and shows that what we call isolation is nothing compared to the isolation caused by poverty, this was taken very early in the morning so i guess this person has been there all night.
The morning sun penetrates the clouds and lights the small islet making it look like it's floating on Oppstrynsvatnet lake in Norway.
The gateway to the Underworld. Where, on the other side, one can visit with Hades playing badminton against Hel. Where Ereshkigal makes a fine spread of corn muffins. Where the Devil and Osiris gang up on poor old Xibalba, pantsing him and giving him a swirlie in the community toilets.
