On a very warm June afternoon, residents of Plainfield, a southwest suburb of Chicago, and surrounding locales joined together for a short march to celebrate Juneteenth and to raise their collective voice against what they perceived as racial injustice. The march began at Plainfield Central High School and tracked near the downtown area before gathering in Settlers Park next to the village hall. Once there, the remaining hour was spent in listening and reflection upon the words of people from the community, a religious leader, and local musicians. According to my best estimate, well over 300 people showed up, many with their families and young children.

Facial casts of Nias islanders, J.P. Kleiweg de Zwaan, 1910
In the early 20th century, the Dutch anthropologist J.P. Kleiweg de Zwaan studied the physical features of human races. On Nias Island in the former Dutch East Indies, he recorded the appearance of a group of living men by making plaster moulds of their faces. The moulds were brought to the Netherlands, where lifelike casts were made of them. For anthropologists, these numbered casts embodied the ethnic diversity of Nias islanders.

This islands need no introduction nor could I define because of the kindness the islanders have shown towards me and helped me so much in bringing out one of the most successful projects ever implemented by UNDP Maldives.
With the help of Force of Nature Aid foundation, a donor agency from Malaysia - UNDP piloted a project on AUOTPOT SYSTEM, which was very successful in the island and as result of the project, the local community started to believe in themselves and have already gathered enough momentum to make it a much bigger success.
This picture was taken during the final evaluation of the project by the donor agency and the two ladies you see (one sitting and the other one taking the picture) are the senior grant officers from the agency. They jelled very well with the community and had a very successful trip both work wise and enjoyment wise.
