Auction catalogue of 20th Century Art & Design. LAMA's 20th Anniversary Auction (Part TWO)

In the middle of Sapporo is Odori-koen, an eleven-block-long park. This piece of public sculpture by Isamu Noguchi doubles as a slide for children to play on.

Detroit's iconic Horace E. Dodge fountain by Isamu Noguchi, at night, in fog, and out of focus. One stop on a long solo walk through foggy Downtown Detroit.

The fountain's illumination is not quite this purply in reality, but my camera's light settings made it look that way and I liked it too much to change them.

This thing was much, much better in person than I had imagined it would be.

Looked exactly like granite until you got right up to it and saw that it was very thin and had steel supports in the back. Actually made of fiberglass and polyester.

Yet another one of those pictures that every Seattlite seems to have. Swung by here today after visiting Bruce Lee's resting place to snap a handful of shots (literally).

Isamu Noguchi (野口 勇, Noguchi Isamu, November 17, 1904 - December 30, 1988) was a prolific Japanese-American artist and landscape architect widely known for his sculpture and public works, iconic modern furniture and lamps, and stage sets for various Martha Graham productions.

These pictures are from the Isamu Noguchi Garden Museum in Long Island City, New York.

Noguchi often refused to give his pieces titles, believing that the viewer should approach them without misconceptions. They are not labeled in the museum, and although the museum has produced a guide that identifies them, they are not identified in these pictures.
