Heavy seas over recent weeks have stripped large volumes of sand from NSW South Coast beaches. At the southern end of Cuttagee Beach, the usual bedrock outcrops are much more extensive.

It sprouted, grew, blossomed, fed the pollinators, and went to seed. Now itās up to the wind to scatter the seeds and start the cycle again.

Composition of two shots. One for the terrain at blue hour and another for the milky way. This image is only possible at the end of August when the milky way is completely vertical, allowing you to see between the rocks no more than thirty minutes. Shots made with Nikon D750 and Irix 15 mm F2.4 lens
Irix Dragonfly lens, 8 raw photos stacked and edited in Affinity. With this particular stack I developed each image separately, adjusting brightness, exposure, details and luminance noise reduction, all with the same parameters. I think it is the best results, but quite time consuming. The Raw files were dark, as I used available light on a windy sunny day, but on the shade side of a hill. I continue to be impressed with the Sony sensor and it's ability to draw details out of the dark files, while still retaining good range of colour and not too much noise.

What you can't tell is this was in the middle of about a 17 and a half hour road trip to the arctic circle. But, it's likely the shortest 17 hour ride I've ever taken. It was brutally cold I think about 5 degrees and crazy windy but oh man...was it ever worth it. Just such a wild trip.
