Today I share a photo from something else with Aurora in the name! In this case it is the Aurora Aperture PowerND filter kit. I tested it on an Irix lens, but it can also be used on a number of Canon wide angle lenses. This is a great filter solution, very compact, and it produces excellent results. This is a more than 5 minute exposure during a slightly stormy, choppy sequence where the water of the Ottawa River was splashing around these rocks. The end result was cool and moody!

This morning dawned with the first heavy frost in place. I grabbed the Irix 150mm F2.8 Macro for a telephoto macro look (via the Sigma MC-11). There were some beautiful opportunities, and here's one that I liked. This is Crimson King Maple leaves with a warm autumn background behind them and a lovely cool outlining of frost. Not exactly macro here, but I loved the shot anyway. See more Sony coverage here:

Luna Moths (Actias luna) are giant silk moths, typically having a wingspan of 4.5". They spend nine months in a cocoon before living their remaining 7-10 days as an imago (winged adult). During that week, they do not eat; instead, they seek mates using their relatively large antennae before dying.
This particular moth was looking pretty rough and was likely nearing the end its life; thus, I figured I would immortalize it in a photograph. :-)
