Meet "Chicken", one of our turkeys. My wife has a female named Dumplin and when one of the chicks this year turned out to be male she decided we needed "Chicken" & "Dumplin". Both were originally destined for the holiday table, but they wisely sucked up to my wife and won pardons.
On May 24, 1874, the first horse-drawn tram rode out in Ghent, between Ghent-South and the Dampoort. 150 years later, the tram has become an indispensable part of the Ghent cityscape. Reason enough to celebrate the trams of the past and present.
An opportunistic clip with my iPhone on my way to get a coffee this morning. The flickering LED lights are annoying, but I don't know how it could be avoided here. I shot slow motion in camera on my iPhone. There's only one shutter speed for slow motion in the native app. Maybe a different app would have different shutter speed options.

The Iphone 13 ProMax definitely struggles, like many cameras of course, as the dark sets in. I snapped this shot handheld and without any adjustment of any settings just to see how well it would cope with the vanishing light. Not as well as I'd hoped unfortunately but I wondered if some may like it so I decided to post it anyway.
I added the moon burst in Luminar Neo but apart from that it's had only minor editing in that program.

Nighttime tour of Charleston’s cemeteries. St. Michaels, the Circular Church, and the Powder Magazine.
The AI of the IPhone 13 Pro Max conjures up a great sharpness on buildings, but overdoes it slightly with the faces in the background of the picture.

Some of the worst flooding ever seen in SE Queensland and the Northern Rivers of NSW occurred in late February and early March of 2022 leaving many communities utterly destroyed with many people left homeless, their homes and possessions having been lost in the floods.
The situation was dire and a slow response from the Morrison Federal and the Perrottet NSW Government saw the residents take matters into their own hands. Local heroes with boats came to the rescue of hundreds of people left stranded, many on rooftops and even some trapped inside their attics. These instinctive heroes saved many people's lives, they also saved stock and wildlife and many are now working for the 'Mud Army' to clean up the mess.
While the army (ADF) was deployed eventually and Morrison, weeks after, declared the situation a National Emergency, it was well and truly too little too late in the provision the sort of assistance that was so obviously urgently needed.
Whole towns went under water up to and above their rooftops and houses floated off their footings. Many people were not insured and have been left with nothing but the clothes they walk in.
Following an absolutely abhorrent political decision the situation will be made even more dire for those in the non LNP held seats in the area because the Federal Government has approved disaster relief funding only for government held seats. The local LNP senate candidate in the area has resigned in protest at the Federal Government's callous decision.
These floods follow on from the massive floods of 2011 from which many had slowly made a recovery, but this flood became the last straw for them.4
Scientists have been warning for more than 50 years that something needs to be done urgently about mitigating the impacts of global warming yet our governments, in bed with fossil fuel corporations, despite receiving regular expert advice to the contrary, knowingly and deliberately continue to defiantly act to minimise the need for any effective response to deal with climate change.
The Rudd, Gillard, Federal Governments tried to move the politics forward by establishing a price on carbon pollution and by implementation of other appropriate environment policy however, with the aid of the Murdoch Press, the fossil fuel lobby and compliant MSM any good that was achieved was wiped out by the Abbott LNP, a hamstrung Turnbull and a climate wrecking Morrison Government.
