With the inward bound to Hoo junction not having run this morning, it was interesting to see if the return would run, it activated and once it was known what was allocated, the move was made to catch this, as 66705 Golden Jubilee leads Colas Rails 66846 with 66706 Nene Valley lead the 6Y42, Hoo Junction-Eastleigh engineers through Virginnia Water with a lengthy rake of assorted wagons. The sun just about came out again after a swirling cloud covered the sun moments before, but thankfully coming back out again when the train was on top of me!

"Let Christ crucified be enough for you, and with him suffer and take your rest, and hence annihilate yourself in all inward and outward things. Endeavor always that things be not for you, nor you for them, but forgetful of all, abide in recollection with your Bridegroom.

Have great love for trials and think of them as but a small way of pleasing your Bridegroom, who did not hesitate to die for you. Bear fortitude in your heart against all things that move you to that which is not God, and be a friend of the Passion of Christ.

Be interiorly detached from all things and do not seek pleasure in any temporal thing, and your soul will concentrate on goods you do not know...

...He who seeks not the cross of Christ seeks not the glory of Christ. To be taken with love for a soul, God does not look on its greatness, but on the greatness of its humility. 'Whoever is ashamed to confess me before others, I shall be ashamed to confess before My Father,' says the Lord (Mt 10:33]."

- St John of the Cross, "Sayings of Light and Love" (92-96; 102-1-3).

One of the most profoundly spiritual people who ever lived was Juan de Yepes (1542-1591), who upon his entering the Carmelite Order in Spain, adopted the name John of the Cross. Later of course, after his death, he was canonised. John was one of the greatest poets in the Spanish language (any language in fact), and he was also a supreme theological mind.

The reflection above was a meditation on the cross of Christ in relation to the faithful. During this time John also has a very powerful vision in which he was taken back to Golgotha to see the crucifixion of Christ from above. Until this time, every crucifixion imagined by artists was seen from below - looking up.

So John made a sketch of this vision, which still exists to this day. To be humbled before Christ and his cross means to be lifted up above the world of woe and death, and to be forever liberated, untouchable by the forces of evil. This has been the vision of every martyr who has put the Kingdom of God ahead of personal survival. Our spirits in God's Spirit are unquenchable! Do your worst Caesar for we cannot die! This is the message of Good Friday (why else is it called "good"?).

In Salvador Dali's, "Christ of Saint John of the Cross", we see this spiritual vision actualised in our world. Dali was a strange man, but he caught a glimpse of Spiritual Truth:

May I forgive (first inwardly, then outwardly) those who have most deeply injured me. I would return love for hatred, sweet praise for sour complaints, and good for evil.

Thy divine light is hidden in even the most vicious and gloom-shrouded man, waiting to shine forth under the proper conditions: the keeping of good company, and ardent desires for self-betterment.

It's easy for me to go inward.. to think deeply, analyze, philosophize, intellectualize, criticize, fantasize. The longer I stay in my head the more dangerous it gets. When I live in a bubble of *me*, life is reflected, magnified ten-fold and contained within that bubble. That's where the danger comes in, I have no context in which to place my problems and gain objectivity. I have found the best way to resolve my issues is to come outside that bubble and live in a world that's larger than me. It's an amazing cure for confusion, self pity, depression.. anything that has to do with the 'self'. Perspective is amazingly transformative. Sometimes, the best thing to do... is pop that bubble, and leave *me* behind.

Like many people in the Eternal city this pehlwan (wrestler) comes here every morning at dawn or before sunset in order to perform his daily physical training routine.

Since the Mughal Era it became a way of living deeply connected to culture of Northern India, this art of wrestling is a synthesis of native malla-yuddha and Persian Varzesh-e Pahlavani.

Through time Western training methods and nomenclature from Iran and Europe were introduced into Pehlwani.

Wrestling competitions, known as dangals, held in villages can have their own rules variations.

The third of the inward freight workings on the RMT strike day was No 70004 on 4Z98 10.55hrs Southampton MT to Garston FLT 'freightliner. Seen here approaching the Busway bridge, Beechwood in ideal conditions! Sadly the second freightliner headed by 90044 and 90045 on 4Z60, the sun decided to disappear behind a cloud just at the wrong moment, however I must admit this loction does not lend itself well to double headed loco's hence no upload on here!

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

[2 Corinthians 4:16-18 NIV]

5 THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:

1. Like it or not, we are ALL sinners: As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous—not even one. No one is truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become useless. No one does good, not a single one.” (Romans 3:10-12 NLT)

2. The punishment for sin is death: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam’s sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. (Romans 5:12 NLT)

3. Jesus is our only hope: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. (Romans 5:8 NLT) For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)

4. SALVATION is by GRACE through FAITH in JESUS: God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (Ephesians 2:8-10 NLT)

5. Accept Jesus and receive eternal life: If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (Romans 10:9 NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. (John 1:12 NLT) And this is what God has testified: He has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have God’s Son does not have life. (1 John 5:11-12 NLT)

A boat travels quietly up Piel channel at Roa Island heading slowly towards the port of Barrow in Furness, I just managed too catch the last bit of colour before the sun escaped.

Having left the inward empty wagons of the stub of the line to Barrs Court Junction, 08942 is now waiting for the shunter to unlock the gates into the Bulmers site. The track 08942 is sitting on is the start of the last short section of the old 'Hereford, Hay & Brecon' line, roughly at the site of Brecon Curve Junction , which was originally operated by the Midland Railway. Date is 8th August 1988.

Psalms 51:6-7 NKJV "Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts, And in the hidden part You will make me to know wisdom. (7) Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow."

The world is so clean and pure feeling after a fresh, fluffy snow covers everything. I'm thankful for the even greater feeling of purity that comes with salvation. Whiter than snow!

Captured Sun

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Captured sun to follow

Dreams are getting dark

Feelings inward hollow

Once did grow and spark

Evening in golden shine

Dripping in its foggy way

Murky times shading line

Now is early winter's day

Low and high day´s light

The futures coming on

Days for clearance bright

Some are thru and done

Yesterdays were so great

In their captured yearning

What is now their fate

In coming lights of learning

You and I were finding

Roadways ahead to know

Every worthwhile combining

In given moments to grow

Phone lines connecting thru

Everything has its own tie

High speeds between the new

Up to the break of day high

With the inward wagons gravitated past it, 08942 has now coupled back up to them in preparation for propelling them into the Bulmers site. However in this shot, I was waiting for the shunter to open the gates into the Bulmers site again, as the nature of the site instruction required them to be locked closed once a train had passed through them. Date is 8th August 1988. The loco is stood at roughly the site of Hay & Brecon Junction, on what was the line from Brecon & Barton Junction to Redhill Junction, and was known as the 'Worcester mile'.

"By the dawn of the 21st Century, New York had also emerged as one of the most strangely paradoxical cities on Earth. At once bewildering diverse and cosmopolitan and yet in many ways surprisingly insular and inward-looking. As if the process of globalization had mainly meant gathering in the world's peoples and riches without involvement in the world's conflicts and divisions" -Ric Burns, New York: A Documentary Film.

9/11/2001: Never Forget

The Tribute in Light is an art installation of 88 searchlights placed next to the site of the World Trade Center to create two vertical columns of light in remembrance of the September 11 attacks.

It initially ran as a temporary installation from March 11 to April 14, 2002, and was launched again in 2003 to mark the second anniversary of the attack. As of 2009, it has been repeated every year on September 11. It had been announced that 2008 would be its final year,[1] but the tribute was continued in 2009.[2] On December 17, 2009, it was confirmed that the tribute would continue through to the tenth anniversary of the attacks in 2011.

On clear nights, the lights could be seen from over 60 miles away, visible in all of New York City and most of suburban Northern New Jersey and Long Island, Fairfield, Connecticut, Westchester County and Rockland County, New York. The beams were clearly visible from the terrace at Century Country Club in Purchase, New York, from at least as far west as western Morris County, in Flanders, New Jersey, and as far south near Trenton, New Jersey in nearby Hamilton.

Since 2008, the generators that power Tribute in Light have been fueled with recycled biodiesel.[4]

History of the Project

Conceived in the aftermath of the September 11th tragedies, Tribute in Light is a temporary artistic gesture bringing together the vision and talent of numerous individuals who, shortly after the attacks, independently envisioned two beams of light rising from downtown New York. Finding support for their ideas, they joined forces in the spirit of the rescue and recovery effort downtown. The creative team consists of architects John Bennett and Gustavo Bonevardi of PROUN Space Studio, artists Julian LaVerdiere and Paul Myoda, architect Richard Nash Gould, and lighting designer Paul Marantz. Production support was provided by two non-profit cultural institutions The Municipal Art Society and Creative Time, with the assistance of Battery Park City Authority.
