Dabbling with Orton, dreamy, painterly and ethereal for sure, but why bother with expensive kit (?), I suppose the same could be said of ICM too,....just saying.

One of the gates along the great ridge walk from mam tor..I thought I would use it to make an inviting comp into the scene and also mask the bright sunlight.

There used to be only one way to get this shot - go into one of Detroit's most frequently used walkways into Joe Louis Arena, and lay on the extremely dirty and sticky floor. Then...aim up. Thinking back... first, ewww, that I laid on this floor, and second, why did it take me 11 years to get around to posting it?. Ah, the mysteries of life.

Tempted to just jump in, but due to my weight gain the last few months. it might have taken some time for the water reflection to return to its initial beauty

Here is my contribution to the Time Isles collaboration at BrickCon, where me and several others all built floating islands depicting important events in world history. This build is based in Florence, Italy, where the Italian Renaissance started. I wanted to make the base half-circular and include an interior to a building, which was an interesting challenge. I think it turned out alright in the end, though I wish I had time to add furniture and more minifigures in the building. The bent bricks for the base were a pain, as they kept falling apart, but it was a really fun technique to use. The cathedral is based on the main cathedral in Florence; that's where I got inspiration for the white and sand green colorscheme which is pretty unusual. I also really like how the small gray building turned out, and I'm glad I got another chance to use that cool arch technique.

Let me know what you guys think, thanks for looking!

The inviting whistle of the male towhee often greets me when I take my camera to the woods, and they can usually be spotted singing on a tree branch or scratching on the ground for food, but the females have remained pretty elusive...until today. This little lady not only sat on an open tree branch, but stayed while I kept clicking. Finally!

Happy fence Friday.

A shot from yesterday mornings brief but beautiful sunrise at Oyster cove, Goodrington. My initial idea was to shoot on the beach but I was struggling to find a composition worth shooting which wasn't helped by arriving later than I'd hoped.

I do love the leading lines of the steps

This cute little bakery window caught my eye. I kept trying to get the shopkeeper inside in the shot but she wasn't having a bar of it. Still works, though. We are still in the Shambles.

Monterosso al Mare, located in the heart of the Cinque Terre region of Italy, offers a picturesque glimpse into the history of a traditional Mediterranean fishing village. The scene captures its vibrant town square, where residents and visitors gather, surrounded by colorful buildings that reflect its centuries-old maritime heritage. Monterosso's history dates back to medieval times, and remnants of ancient fortifications still stand as a testament to its strategic importance in defending against pirate raids.

The architecture of Monterosso is characterized by its pastel-hued houses, as seen in this photo, with shutters painted in earthy greens and blues. These buildings often feature stone arches and narrow alleyways, which are typical of Ligurian coastal villages. The use of vibrant colors was historically practical, helping fishermen identify their homes from the sea. The town's layout combines practicality with charm, as many structures are designed to withstand the coastal climate while preserving a sense of community in the compact streets.

Culturally, Monterosso al Mare thrives on its connection to the sea and the land. Festivals celebrating local traditions, such as the annual Lemon Festival and the Feast of St. John the Baptist, highlight the town's deep ties to its historical roots. The lively atmosphere in the town square, captured in this image, reflects the communal spirit that defines Monterosso. Artisan shops and local markets, often filled with handmade crafts and souvenirs, add to the cultural richness of the town.

Gastronomically, Monterosso is a paradise for food lovers. The town is famous for its fresh seafood, particularly anchovies, which are a local specialty. Visitors can also enjoy classic Ligurian dishes such as trofie al pesto and farinata, along with the region's world-renowned white wines. This image hints at the culinary vibrancy of Monterosso, with outdoor seating at cafes and restaurants inviting visitors to savor the flavors of the Italian Riviera while basking in the town's idyllic atmosphere.

這比較像是個心情紀錄。

對我而言這椅子像是個受人忽視的機會,卻是我一直在尋找著的。

This is more of a record of what I felt.

I kind of saw this chair as a chance overlooked by others but it was something I'd been looking for.

Come sit by the warming tree! (Note, the barn doesn't have a roof. Or windows).

This is the main trail at Boyce Thompson Arboretum, about 40 miles east of Phoenix. Rumor had it that peak fall color should be around Thanksgiving. Still rather green, but still beautiful

West Coast British Columbia just outside Vancouver. This is a wonder place for a fall afternoon drive to where you feel the mountains surround you, like a inviting hug.

It is bitterly cold outside, but a warm light falls from the mountain rescue hut on the Feldberg ... You could almost think that you are in Lapland, where trees covered in deep snow are more common than in our region
