When I signed up for the chess tournament down at the local community center, I had no idea that I’d be paired against an invisible man!

Go trust someone who is unable

To find himself. The kind of man that

Is not really there, the dissolves into

The background. The kind that

Is nowhere to be found.

And if this man is the one that

You believed to be the closest, your support?

The one that brought you here and

supposedly the same one that should be there

for me.

And then one day you find out that

He has never actually been there.

Invisible Man...

The pedestrians walked past the man sleeping on the street as though he were invisible. he lay there motionless as the crowds walked by; not one person in the few minutes i was there even took a second look, many would walk by as if they hadn't noticed there was a man laying in the middle of the sidewalk. .

Toronto is a non stop city; where the masses are in a constant state of motion... going to and fro like millions of ants in an ant nest, busy doing something, going somewhere. others trapped in obscurity.

Waiting for the Bus. Seen in Hastings, East Sussex.

This is a picture I've been planning to create for a few months now but only today did I manage to throw off the winter lethargy to actually achieve it. I turned out just as I hoped so I am pretty chuffed with it :)

Day 189 of 365 days.

So my phone interview got cancelled today, so instead I spent the day painting the attic with Steph. We're pretty close to done at this point, and then we can throw in a carpet and presto, new master bedroom.

I was all set to use a pretty lame back up picture of me working on that as my picture. But then I saw my mom's clone shot for today in her 365 day project. And Steph started telling me about her painting idea for her 365 shot today, so I decided I had to have something a little better for my shot today. I can't have them out photoshopping me. So I decided to do a shot I had been thinking about for a while. I only had a couple hours to work on it since I started so late, but hopefully it came out.

The "pose" in this shot is inspired by an older (pre-365 days) shot I did during a shoot. For the record, there are two girls behind me in this one too. Only now they're totally naked. I do it for the people.

The Invisible Man dresses up in his best garb so that his love might see how he feels for her.

"Invisible Man" sculpture by Elizabeth Catlett, Riverside Park, 150th Street The work honors author Ralph Ellison who lived nearby and is a visual allusion to his novel Invisible Man. The monument is placed in a landscaped oval and framed by pink granite walls that have been inscribed with a quote from the novel and brief biographical information about Ellison.

"I am an invisible man. I am invisible, understand, simply because people refuse to see me:"

Nothing says "style" like a smoking jacket and bandage-wrapped cranium!

Just recieved my copy of the Semi-Permanent 2009 book from Design Is Kinky. It made it all the way from Australia fairly unscathed.

The piece I submitted, called "Ruffled Feathers", is the one shown on the right.

Some first shots with the new 10mm extension tube...

( I know this isn't on the Carnivale tv serie..but I couldn't resist heheh)

Theme for the week is Myths and Legends. I had several ideas but in the end selected this one.

I haven't planned and prepared for a shot so much in ages but had a lot of fun taking it with the help of Vicky.

Those of you who follow my shots know that I don't often post a shot in two groups, but there was more than a little Photoshop sliding in this one so it has to go in to Sliders Sunday too!

HSS!

UPDATE: Thanks all for the comments and faves.

A couple of people have asked how it was done, well I loosely followed this tutorial, with a couple of changes.

Firstly I looked down rather than up so didn't need to shoot the inside of the hat. Secondly, when shooting the inside of the cuffs and collar, I put the shirt and tie back into the suit jacket to make it easier to PS into place. Then I held the clothes up in roughly the right place so that the light was right. For the cuffs I stuffed a packet of cookies down each sleeve to hold them a bit stiffer, and a double cuff shirt helps too I'm sure.

EXPLORED #4 - Thanks so much for all the kind words and faves!

As seen in the comic book.

This is sort of a work-in-progress, since I did the set already in december, hoping to do the cover of the Vol I. I've build + shot the images for the wall, but figuring out how to get them look good enought has proven to be next to impossible with my photo editing skills (which are close to zero). So I thought I'd post this part of the image, perhaps I get the whole cover done one day...

“The police didn’t have to apologize to anyone. They were on their toes. They picked up drunks and gave out traffic tickets and trapped killers. But they found new methods were necessary when confronted with ‘The Invisible Man Murder Case.” [From the Introduction]

"I'm sorry, Murray. I'm just not seeing you in the lead role."

Herbert George Wells (1866-1946) was a prolific English writer and socialist reformer who is often called “the father of science fiction”. His influential works, including The Time Machine (1895), The Invisible Man (1897), and The War of the Worlds (1898), are considered early and classic examples of the genre.

Wells's writing also predicted technological innovations like the atomic bomb, space travel, and automatic doors.

"I say, old chap, are you having a fit of some sort? Can I assist?"

"No, Doc, I'm just making a snow angel. Don't you make snow angels on Gallifrey?"

"Really, you look like you're having a fit. I should get you inside, give you a nice cup of tea."

"Dude, SNOW...ANGEL. I'm cool."
