Greta Torossian has invented the notion of fleeting heritage. These views, quite real when the camera captures them, metamorphose before our eyes. Tomorrow, the historian of the third millennium will be pleased to study Beirut's 1999 landscape before more futuristic buildings soar into the sky and more ruined buildings collapse...
A philosopher's reflection rests behind the artist's statement, taking the measure of human ambivalence toward the cities we destroy and rebuild, even as we fail to draw the necessary lessons from that process. This new theme appears in a particularly original body of work that has kept its promises since 1996.

The city leaves its mark on people's memory by giving them a certain "image" to more or less important or even intimate moments of their life. As important can become some day the human power over the identity of a city.
For those who live in or near a given city, the place gains a certain "personality" and even a certain "soul". In extreme circumstances like war or at the time of large scale building projects, men play with the image of the city, contribute in the modification of its "personality" and even in the reincarnation of its "soul". That has become the case of Beirut at the end of the 20th century when the central district, after being the prey of multiple whims of human violence, becomes the world's largest construction site. Thus, it is the finest representation of two extreme examples of man's power over the city; because these two extremes are juxtaposed there today. The outcome is a vision that borders on the absurd, at the limits of the imaginable, but real. Absurd fruit of fate... The face of man is excluded from these images because they only represent the ambiguity of his immense power.
These are the remains of a disastrous war, those of a total chaos still lingering in a reorganized environment which is aiming to "tame" them.
i used only corel draw ( version 8! ) to create this image from scratch. no importation of anything, basically created using shape tools, envelop tool, fountain fills and transparencies. anyone with a better idea should please contact me, i'll really appreciate it. thanks

Penn State York celebrated the launch of Working Class, a makerspace partnership, to a crowd of more than 100 on Aug. 9 on the stage of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at Penn State York. The winners of the 2016–17 Start-Up Challenge, a business pitch competition for students, were also recognized during this celebration of entrepreneurship, leadership, partnerships, and innovation. These projects received $50,000 seed grant funding from Invent Penn State, an economic development initiative across the Commonwealth. Penn State President Eric Barron, Penn State York officials and Erin Casey, co-founder and board member of Working Class, took part in the ceremony.

Cea de-a XIV-a ediţie a Salonului Internaţional al Cercetării, Inovării şi Inventicii PRO INVENT, Cluj-Napoca, are loc în perioada 23-25 martie 2016 şi se va desfăşura în Complexul Universităţii Tehnice din Cluj-Napoca, B-dul Muncii nr. 103-105.
Salonul este organizat de Universitatea Tehnică din Cluj-Napoca sub egida Ministerului Educaţiei Naţionale şi a Autorităţii Naţionale pentru Cercetare Știinţifică. Marcă înregistrată a Universității Tehnice din Cluj-Napoca, salonul reuneşte universități, institute, centre și stațiuni de cercetare, firme, asociații ale inventatorilor, persoane fizice din țară și din străinătate și reprezintă un prilej de întâlnire cu potenţialii utilizatori şi cu publicul larg.
Parteneri: Academia de Ştiinţe Tehnice din România - Filiala Cluj, Consiliul Local al Municipiului Cluj-Napoca, Agenţia de Proprietate Intelectuală a Republicii Moldova, Forumul Inventatorilor Români, Oficiul de Stat pentru Invenţii şi Mărci, Institutul Naţional de Inventică Iaşi.

O Território Inventivo abre suas portas para o Hip Hop e suas interações com o audiovisual, na sétima edição do Curta na Central, nessa terça feira 18/04.
Serão exibidos filmes de curta-metragens, clipes e vídeos de slams trazendo um recorte da tamanha diversidade do hip hop de diferentes gerações.
Após a sessão rola um bate papo com transmissão #AoVivo, contando com a presença de MCs, além de realizadores de curtas e videoclipes voltados a essa temática. Presenças confirmadas de Janaina Oliveira (ReFem Revolta Feminina), Alexandre Santos (Jovem Cerebral), Nação Hip Hop - Rio de Janeiro, BERRO., MC Martina, Aika Cortez, MC Jamall Dubeco, MC Thais Bueno e da figurinista V.v. The East Midlands International CiCLE Classic is a road bicycle race that starts in Oakham and finishes in Melton Mowbray. The 2009 version was 152 km long and won by Ian Wilkinson of the Halfords BikeHut team.
The race is characterised by its off-road sections and short, sharp climbs on narrow and treacherous farm tracks - taking its inspiration from the Paris-Roubaix and Ronde van Vlaanderen. Originally part of the British Premier Calendar, from 2008 it is a 1.2 event on the UCI Europe Tour.
