Cuando ves animales como este en posiciones que recuerdan tanto a las del ser humano, no dejas de preguntarte los estados mentales que pueblan las cabezas de nuestros parientes mas cercanos.

When I see animals like this one in a attitude that can remind the human beings, I´m always asking me the states of minds we could find in the mind of our nearest relatives

There's a vision in the sands

Rising from the ancient past

Crying let my spirit go

Lead my burning soul to rest

Hear the sound of distant ages

It's the call of the seventh star..,

Another shot of Cavan, in another world.

Initially I was thinking of using Dylan Thomas' "And Death Shall Have No Dominion" poem as a quote for the photo, but I've just changed my mind. One of the words that I've heard and used very often today was "introspection".

It sounds quite flashy and the notion itself is quite interesting. We're born with this ability to analyse ourselves, to analyse our thoughts, feelings or actions. Sometimes we might overdue this and that's the time when we find ourselves in endless loops. All in all, I see it as a positive trait - if you understand what's inside, you have a better chance of understanding what's outside as well.

Though this is a double edged weapon - as a study pointed out, very often our views about our inner self can be quite different from what others think of us. Some think this is caused by the fact that we know a lot more about ourselves than others - we also see the things that others do not.

I have been so inspired lately and it seem that alot of my permission for inspiration has came from CreativeLive sessions. This image in particular was inspired by Jen Hudson this week, and her tintype images. (I am getting so much inspiration from CL!).

I'm busy building my company so photography has had to take a back seat too some very serious work. This is a self image taken by my friend with my cool little compact camera the Panasonic LX-2. I love to fiddle with the PS processing and maybe this should have been a Black and White? Oh well.

I really hope I will get some time to take some photos soon.

Slice of life with existential introspection

introspection suggestion

We celebrated Sayer's ninth birthday last month. He really was stealing a quiet moment to reflect here. He is a dreamer, the consummate idea man. So often we have feared for him, his wiring not compatible with the vast machine, but he is really coming into his own. As he becomes more self-aware, and flexes into the sometimes itchy fabric of his own mind, he has found the courage to face failure and try again.

Contemplation of one's own thoughts, feelings, and sensations; the act of looking within oneself

"Introspection is self-improvement and therefore introspection is self-centeredness. Awareness is not self-improvement. On the contrary, it is the ending of the self, of the “I,” with all its peculiar idiosyncrasies, memories, demands, and pursuits. In introspection there is identification and condemnation. In awareness there is no condemnation or identification; therefore, there is no self-improvement. There is a vast difference between the two"
