I love him like my own brother, and he not only knows how to carve the bird, he's an amazing cook. (Note: He didn't cook this turkey; my aunt did. But I had some amazing pasta at Rick's and Jill's place the night before... outstanding sauce!)

The bridge was designed in 1748 by William Etheridge (1709–76), and was built in 1749 by James Essex the Younger (1722–84). It has subsequently been repaired in 1866 and rebuilt to the same design in 1905.
The myth that the bridge was originally built without fastenings at the joints, but could not be rebuilt successfully without introducing fastenings at the joints, might owe its origin to a change in the nature of the fastenings during the 1905 rebuilding.
Although it appears to be an arch, it is composed entirely of straight timbers built to an unusually sophisticated engineering design, hence the name. A replica of the bridge was built in 1923 near the Iffley Lock in Oxford.
Introduced 1993, Eurostar used to operate out of Waterloo International which is where this photo was taken, probably in the mid 1990's. Sadly unit 3014 on the right of the picture has been withdrawn and scrapped at European Metal Recyling, Kingsbury on 17.3.2017

Introduced in various other forms in the 1890's, evolving to some of these rainbow color light Jukeboxes that became the automatic musical players of the day in the late 1920's.
The first jukebox was an automatic phonograph produced in 1927 by Rowe International, then known as AMI.
These music instruments were extremely well built and have survived to this day in the hands of collectors and museums.
The shellac 78 rpm record dominated jukeboxes until the Seeburg Corporation introduced an all 45 rpm vinyl record jukebox in 1950.

While in Pullman Washington in April we went to the Old European Restaurant for breakfast and were introduced to a Danish delight called aebleskivers. They are like a donut and are cooked in a special cast iron pan with eight indentations. They reminded us of Dutch poffetjes which we eat every year at the Linden Fair. These ones had a meat filling but we also had some apple filled ones. They were seriously yummy :)

Taking my sons to Katmai National Park last month proved to be so much more thrilling than expected! Like the couple hundred other tourists there we went through the training video, received our graduation pins and headed down the gravel road to Brooks Falls. Our instructions were clear, if a bear is seen, get off the path as far as you can and let it pass. The bears of Katmai are so focused on salmon and other bear stuff that if you play by the rules, you are pretty safe. Brooks Falls has not had a Bear-Human incident in 60 years. For a few seconds, I thought that me and those Dattilo boys were about to change the record to “0 days without an incident!”
We were probably about halfway between the visitor’s center and the falls when we noticed a group of 4 standing still and just off the path some 40 yards away. We stopped for a second or two but decided to advance since they seemed to be looking off into the woods with little to no concern. Then without warning THE BIGGEST DAMN BEAR THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN stepped out onto the road maybe 20 yards away and immediately started trotting right towards us!
As the newest graduates of the parks 15 minute “Bear School” I would like to say that out extensive training kicked right in. But it didn’t as we all just stood there screaming like school girls!
Ok…that’s not true, but I must admit on the inside I was! He was on us so fast that by the time he was 10 yards or less away, we were able to get around a small group of trees and off the path…maybe only 10 feet or so off the path. I captured this shot of who we were able to later identify as “Chunk.” Last year he came in second place as Alaska’s Fattest Bear competition with an estimated weight of 1200 pounds!
I was taught in the Navy many years ago that fear is not real, and believe that to be true. In my mind I knew that we were safe, but when a bear that is nearly half the width of a Ford F-150 and would stand well over 7 feet tall comes out of nowhere, starts trotting towards you…and oh yea…frothing at the mouth, it is the fear that makes you know that you are alive!
He was on the scent of something as he quickly pivoted and headed back into the woods in the direction that he had come from. We all laughed at how great the encounter had been, a treasured memory with my sons…a story that will certainly be told for years to come and always start with “Remember Chunk?”
A cool Katmai fact: It is larger than Ireland and ranks only number three in the largest National Park list! What a blessing our National Parks system is!!
I was taking my daily walk when suddenly I came across this gorgeous golden retriever, (well, I think he is a golden retriever, but I could be wrong) and he was staring right at me.
So I went over to say hello to his owner and she gave me the opportunity to photograph this beautiful dog.
I then learned that his name was "Turrón". (That is to say: "nougat", a sweet that in Spain and other countries is especially enjoyed at Christmas.)
The Golden Retriever is considered an intelligent, gentle natured and very affectionate breed of dog.
As is typical with retriever breeds, the breed is generally calm and biddable, being very easy to train and extremely keen to please their master.
The breed is known to make excellent pets and family dogs, being generally extremely tolerant of children and keen to accompany any member of the family in a range of activities.
Due to their affable natures, the breed is often completely devoid of guarding instincts.
The Golden Retriever was bred by Sir Dudley Marjoribanks at his Scottish estate Guisachan in the late nineteenth century.
He cross-bred Flat-coated Retrievers with Tweed Water Spaniels, with some further infusions of Red Setter, Labrador Retriever and Bloodhound. (Source: Wikipedia)

Así que me acerqué a saludar a su ama y me concedió la oportunidad de retratar a esta belleza de perro.
Entonces supe que su nobre era "Turrón".
El golden retriever se considera una raza de perro inteligente, de naturaleza apacible y muy cariñosa.

This is the closest a male R-lP ventured towards the pop-up hide I was concealed in. Even though it chose to stand in shadow, I was still able to capture the beauty and detail of his plumage. I'd never appreciated just how fantastic the jumble of black triangles are below the black neck band. If you view the image as large as you can, you will see what I mean!

Nicole is one of several newly identified individual great white sharks at Isla de Guadalupe this season. Researchers have been working with photographers since 2003 to help catalog distinct individuals at the island using unique characteristics of each shark through a photo identification project. It is expected that the number of unique individuals in the database will exceed 300 after this season.

I had so much fun with the styling...I mean really...can that blond afro get any bigger! lol!

This is our new kitten we have named Flash. We named him after the "Flash" because he just zooms from one place to another. He is very smart and confident. He was born on the 23rd of January, 2023.
