THE 18TH CENTURY "ROLLS ROYCE"
Kalesa is a horse-drawn carriage used during the 1800s as a mode of transportation in the Philippines at the time when Spanish occupied our country. At that time, only noble and rich people can ride on calesa. Today, calesa can be experienced by the ordinary Filipinos and foreign travelers by riding it to the places like Intramuros in Manila, and Vigan in Ilocos Sur where Spanish heritage is still rich. I took the photo of this kind of calesa outside Plaza de Roma in Intramuros, Manila.

Here is The Manila Cathedral with many people, very happy to join together, especially this Christmas.
About:
The Metropolitan Cathedral - Basilica of Manila
(or Manila Cathedral) is the official headquarters of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, the Principal Patroness of the Philippines. It is located inside the Walled City of Intramuros, Manila, Philippines. The present cathedral is the 8th structure built between 1954 and 1958 after it was destroyed by the bombings of World War II. We can see the church's beauty and elegance through its Neo-Romanesque design, elaborate designs, and the spirit of the Spanish Philippines. The present structure was designed by Architect Fernando Ocampo.

INTRAMUROS: CASA MANILA
Casa Manila is one of the museums and antique shops located within the Plaza San Luis Complex inside the ancient Walled City of Intramuros, Manila. The design was based on the concept of "Bahay Na Bato", an upgraded version of nipa hut or "Bahay Kubo" with accents of Spanish, Austronesian, and Chinese architecture. It is also a three-story structure modeled on the Binondo house of the prominent merchant Don Severino Mendoza. The house features the traditional rooms as well as antique objects the rich were used during the 17th to 19th century.

“Art is never finished, only abandoned.” - Leonardo da Vinci
Ironically, within the ancient walls of Intramuros, you can find abandoned modern walls that are painted with contemporary graffiti art.
Here's my second attempt at digital lomo. I've learned a lot from my 1st one thanks to all your feedback.
BTW, I've been doing this photography thing for 2mos now, so I'm trying a signature and a watermark. So I'm actually dreaming that my works are good enough to merit a signature and a watermark. Please forgive me. Hahaha!
As always, your tips, suggestions and comments are always welcome. You can comment on the signature and watermark too! Nyahahah!

I believe this is looking southwest from on top of the west wall of Intramuros.
It was a strange looking place in 1978 compared to today.
Notice the children’s play ground on the left side of the picture.
An intriguing mystery picture that was titled “Luneta in Manila?” My guess is this is inside Intramuros. It is a poor picture; the light areas are completely wasted out of any detail. On the left can be seen what looks like a stone wall like Intramuros and just left of center mostly hidden by trees is an opening through the wall with people sitting inside. I wonder if this is the inside opening of Postigo del Palacio Gate? The arch looks like it could be and the vegetation could be hiding the other openings that are besides the gate. Taking a closer look the arched opening does not look high enough to be Postigo so it probably isn’t. Notice all the many canon balls lining the walking area. That makes me think it was somewhere near a Spanish Canon fortification. Anyone have any ideas?
California State Library summary of the picture: Shows pathway in garden, lampposts along edge, garden beds lined with cannon balls, two men standing in center.
In May of 1898, California created the First Battalion of California Heavy Artillery, United States Volunteers in answer to President's call for troops. Consisted of four batteries, A through D, batteries A and D were assigned to Philippine Islands Expeditionary Forces, remaining batteries served in U.S. Album documents experiences of Frank Freeman Atkinson, Sergeant in Battery D.

Undated but with the old car it is 1920s-1930s. According to a 1934 YMCA map of Manila this was located on A. Soriano Ave. (Aduana) in Intramuros north across the street from the old Santo Tomas University. This is looking northwest; the Aduana building is out of the picture to the right. Can anyone accurately identify what is behind the YMCA on the left and right?
