Berta and I couldn't decide, based on the weather reports if we should stick with "our spot" or move everything in doors. A full week and a half before our ceremony the weather reports said there would be storms, so I was prepared to change our spot and already had a pretty solid plan in mind as we began to set up. When Jack came to get me and led me out to where the children were waiting for the flute music to change as the proceeded around the building and back inside for the ceremony, it began to drip drip drop rain drops and so we turned for the door and proceeded with our "Plan B!" They were allll SO cool
And in so much as AlixAndria and Nicholas have announced to the universe the truth that is already in their hearts - we are in fact husband and wife.
Our friend, the minister, VInce Vaughn and my Ma n Pa. In this photo you can see the vase there in honor of Nicholas' Mom, Suzanne and our Unity Candle (which Berta made for us) and the ribbons for our hand fasting ceremony.
It is one of the grand ironies of being human: Such big brains, and so little comprehension of the gift of every moment. But sometimes the universe makes it very easy for us. Sometimes we have experiences that transcend the circumstances of our daily lives and help us feel the gift of existence itself.
It was Mom & Dad's 41'st Wedding Anniversary so we celebrated with cake and cards before everyone headed home!
Here are Berta & Jack, along with all the rest of us, there to watch Dad pull the bucket chicken from the bucket.
Here are Nicholas and lovely Megan as they waited by the door for our procession to begin. We moved inside just a few minutes later. They looked absolutely gorgeous!
Everyone came out to witness Dad removing the bucket from the chicken and whoop and holler and sputter from the billowing smoke as the bucket was raised.
An intimate, expansive moment...

This is from my poetry book I wrote, on page 46, “ In the sands of time, a wondrous tale,
A woman's journey, an extraordinary trail.
Bewildered eyes gaze upon a sight unseen,
A stranger in an ancient world, a queen.
It started in a dim-lit alley when a kitten strayed,
She followed with curiosity, unafraid.
Through a shimmering portal, her fate unfurled,
Lost in time's embrace, an adventure she hurled.
Naked and vulnerable, she finds herself lost,
In an Egyptian realm, in history's exhaust.
Her beauty, a celestial rarity,
Captivating hearts with profound clarity.
Golden tresses cascade with radiant gleam,
Like the Nile's gentle flow, a shimmering stream.
Eyes like the stars, sparkling with mystery,
Entrancing souls, igniting hearts' reverie.
Her curves, sculpted by a masterful hand,
A masterpiece, amidst the desert's vast expanse.
A mesmerizing allure, an ethereal dance,
Seducing time, with each enigmatic glance.
********ITS WAY LOnGER but there is a preview lol ***************
This is the way Nicholas smiled at me as I came around the corner- we then took each others hand and entered into our wedding ceremony.
We only invited our family and closest friends to be a part of our ceremony. They all stood in a circle around us and our children. This is the left part of our circle with Jen, Tony, Abe & Pop in view.
Here we are waiting to see if it would be the music or the rain to begin first. This is Raechel and you can see Jack and I behind her.
Here is what the bucket chicken looked like as it cooked in the bucket. Apparently it is not alright to lift the bucket to check on the chickens mid-cook, so you have to make an educated guess as to when it will be done and then just go for it.

Above you are the stars, below you are the stones, as time passes, remember. . .like a stone, your love should be firm; like a star, your love should be constant. Let the powers of the mind and of the intellect guide you in your marriage, let the strength of your wills bind you together, let the power of love and desire make you happy, and the strength of your dedication make you inseparable. Be close, but not too close. Possess one another, yet be understanding. Have patience with one another, for storms will come, but they will pass quickly. Be free in giving affection and warmth. Have no fear and let not the ways of the unenlightened give you unease, for the Divine is with you always."
