Intimate Moments. Candles are placed along the corridor, in case you need lighting to get to the loo I guess.
Marriage. It ranks right up there with birth and death as one of the three biggies in life. But it’s the only one that we’ll celebrate with a conscious awareness. Very few of you remember your arrival, and even fewer of you will attend your own funeral. Pick a society, any society: Jewish farmers 100 years ago in Poland, English émigrés to Canada, San Franciscan hipsters ... What’s the one thing they all have in common? Marriage. It’s like a cultural handrail. It links us to the past, and guides us to the future.

Sometimes the most memorable meals are eaten in the comfort of home, snuggled up in front of a warm fire...

... or like when two beautiful, loving souls find one another, let their love blossom, and form a union of their lives. This love is a gift from the universe. It is a gift to the universe. The universe itself is made warmer and more loving by the path they walk together. We are all blessed to be here, but the gift of this love doesn’t end at these walls or in the memories of the people here. Like that perfect sunset casting brilliant color across the horizon, their loving union casts love across all our lives – reminding us of what this journey is all about. On behalf of the universe, I want to say Thank You to Nick and Alix. May your love forever shine.
A person with curly hair holds a clear glass of coffee while sitting by a window, surrounded by warm light. Several open books rest in their lap, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for reading.
Our hair finally done and with only a couple of hours to spare I took the girls back to Mom & Dad's hotel so that I could head out to the Arboretum to meet Berta and get everything set up for our ceremony.
Aspen's on the phone and Mom is in her bath towel which she pointed out that everyone in the lobby could see whenever the hotel room door opened.
"Please step forward with the rings. Let us pray. Bless us , the Divine, the giving and receiving of these rings. May AlixAndria and Nicholas abide in thy peace and grow in their knowledge of your presence, through their loving union. May the seamless circle of these rings become the symbol of their endless love and serve to remind them of the holy covenant they have entered into today to be faithful, loving, and kind to each other. Dear God, may they live in Your grace and be forever true to this union. Amen."
The challenge with dinner that I gave everyone was to come up with a Native American dish to cook for our family dinner and share with us all. Dad found a recipe for "bucket chicken" and this is a photo of how he made it happen.
Our rings and ring pillows. Our boys carried in our rings and presented them during our ceremony. My son Richard carried my rings for Nicholas and my step son Ashton carried the pillow with his Dad's ring on it for me. The beige/brown pillow was a gift from my parents which they picked for us during their trip to Italy and I thought it was perfect!
