Phillip (22), Formula 1 Motorsports Solutions Specialist: “In 2013 I began my apprenticeship as an electronics technician for devices and systems at RIEDEL. Since completing the program in 2017 I have been a Motorsports Solutions Specialist for the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 team’s intercom and radio systems. At each race, I am initially responsible for the technical set-up of race control and all groups working in the pitlane. Then I set up and commission the communications system for Team Sauber. After that, my focus is on supporting the team and making sure everything runs smoothly. After each race, we immediately dismantle and pack our gear for the next race.
At RIEDEL, I particularly enjoy the friendly atmosphere – almost everyone knows each other – and the opportunity to travel around the globe.”

I’ve been retired now for about twelve years. And ever since I’ve been retired I’ve wanted to do something. I’m not a lay home watch soap opera kind of girl. I ran into a place called non-profit technology resources down near Spring Garden and Stan introduced me to recycling. And what I do is the donations that have come into the YWCA where I started and Malt Computer Volunteer Group, with the donations that come in, they were just sitting around. So I decided to tinker with and fix them.
As of the past four years we’re a Microsoft authorized refurbisher. We’re licensed by Microsoft to refurbish computers and install licensed products. Because we’re an authorized refurbisher, that means I’m obligated to wipe any and all hard drives. So I can assure people if they want to donate it or someone comes in and says I want to donate and I want my data, I’ll open the computer up and pull the hard drive out and hand it to them. Because when I re-image it, it has to be wiped. I have other hard drives.
You used to be able to put computers out on the sidewalk. Now you can’t do that. Also industries can’t dispose of their computer equipment the way they used to. So they donate it. They say you come get it. No you drop it off because I know they’re saving money (plus they’re getting a tax deduction} because they don’t have to pay for disposal.
My concern is since I’m a grandmom my concern is with children, middle school, high school and college students. When I get donations of laptops, the college students are first on the list AT REDUCED PRICE? At minimal price. Especially a high school student who comes in and they’re honor roll. They get a whole PC for twenty bucks. AND HOW DO THEY FIND OUT ABOUT YOU? Usually word of mouth. Everybody knows “Miss Wynnie, the computer lady.” Summit Presbyterian Church, Mount Airy.

Fee gave me the idea of this new set of interviews when I saw her now famous picture with all her dolls lying on the ground, side by side, in never-ending rows. I am sure you still have it in mind! This shot made my jaw drop, and Fee well deserves to be the first interviewee about the biggest Blythe collections in the world!

This week, we recorded the stories of 12 local activists who dared to change the world. We interviewed members of the Mill Valley Community Action Network (MVCAN), our grassroots political action group.
This photo set covers our production for the video interviews we shot at my home studio over two days: Sunday, August 27 and Saturday, September 2, 2017. Here are the MVCAN members we talked to on Sunday: Natalie Frederick, Peter Graumann, June Cooperman, Susan Bolle, Suz Lipman and Carol Korenbrot. On Saturday, we spoke with Danny Altman, Laura Boles, Matt Jaffe, Lisa Ristorucci, Eileen Fisher and Bernard Catalinotto
We talked about their reactions to recent news events and how they took political action in response. The interviews show each activist against a black background, head and shoulders only, with great lighting. They were expertly shot by our friend Gary Yost, a talented filmmaker, as a labor of love.
We will edit a number of videos from those interviews in October: a year-in-review montage and short vignettes and community profiles. These videos will premiere in our November event, and will be shared on the MVCAN site and through social media at that time.
Our activists found their voice and spoke up, loud and clear. We hope they will inspire more people to take political action. Their acts of resistance did more than just liberate them: they can engage millions more to stand up for liberty and justice.
