Digital Photo Magazine interviewed me about photographing Istanbul. What a treat to visit Istanbul, but to photograph this great city, too? Wow. Istanbul offers photo opportunities wherever you turn.

What was it about Istanbul that made you want to capture it on camera?

The Ottoman architecture of Istanbul, it’s minarets reaching to the heavens, the colourful spice market, Grand Bazaar presented a vivid image in my mind. Hypothetically, I had been photographing Istanbul even before I arrived. I had seen a myriad of photos while researching my trip and visualized how I would capture the various scenes differently. Once my feet hit the pavement, it seemed as if I had already visited the city, making my task of capturing the city on camera all the more easy. Additionally, having grown up in Tripoli, Libya, re-discovering the Islamic world has been high on my list. Istanbul has been only one stop with regard to this journey.

Istanbul is famous for its beautiful Ottoman architecture, such as the Sultan Ahmed Mosque and so on; artistically, do you think you did it justice?

Ottoman architecture is brilliant, isn’t it? The style completely captures my imagination, and there is a fairytale magical element I’ve not seen elsewhere. My eye is drawn towards curves, and lines, so Istanbul was ideal for me as a photographer. Hour upon hour I studied Hagia Sophia, Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque), Süleymaniye Mosque, Basilica Cistern following each curve and line.

I help aspiring and established photographers get noticed so they can earn an income from photography or increase sales. My blog, Photographer’s Business Notebook is a wealth of information as is my Mark Paulda’s YouTube Channel. Rio de Janeiro. The people are resourceful and who can make money as much as they can, and small monkeys, so cute, emboldened and run out into the street. Everyone tries to feed them.

Рио де Жанейро. Народ находчивый и кто как может зарабатывает деньги, а маленькие обезьянки, такие милашки-попрошайки, осмелели и выбегают прямо на улицу.

Vancouver my chosen home. I remember in 1988 when I had interview in Canadian Embassy in Athens regarding emigration, I was asked by Consul :

- Where do you want to go ?

- Vancouver , Please

- Why Vancouver ? It's expensive !

- I will work and I will make sure that I will manage, plus it's the warmest in Canada

- Why don't you want to go to Winnipeg , they have Polish stores , churches , community centers , they have huge Polish population – WHY don't you want to go there ?

- I'm sorry, Sir but I'm applying for emigration , if I liked so much all that Polish environment I would just stay there. Could I , Please ! Go to Vancouver , Sir … Please

- ( I made him smile ) I see your point , you will have to wait bit longer but you can go to Vancouver if you want it so much.

All that I was told .. nice city , warn with not much of a winter. I never looked back

BTW .. this image was taken on really hazy day , normally we would be able to see much farther. That forest in the distance surrounding downtown core – that is Stanley Park.

… and yes it is 7 exposure HDR from Cypress Bowl ( North–West from the city )

I'm sorry in advance for not being around – off to shoot at 5am . Another 3-4 hour sleep , sometimes I feel that I will go back to work for the rest …

Ask me anything.

Thank you for all the kind comments over the years, i have made it a new years resolution to try and reply to them more but please be patient with me , i find it quite hard down to a bang on the head and slight brain injury which just effects my dyslexia and train of thought.

My recent interview with M. Olivier Battaglia, Deputy Commissioner of Police for the Principality of Monaco, is continued in the transcript below. I have decided to hide nothing from the detectives investigating me!

***

M. Battaglia: Exactly how long have you known Colonel Barrington, Lady Rebecca?

Lady Rebecca: Since my late husband first became my client, about a year ago - when Le Duc first started visiting me in my bordello in London.

M. Battaglia: That is how you were introduced to Colonel Barrington?

Lady Rebecca: Yes. As Le Duc’s Head of Security, he would accompany me in Le Duc’s private jet, when I was asked to visit Le Duc in Monte Carlo, to provide sexual services.

M. Battaglia: And how would you describe your relationship with Colonel Barrington, Lady Rebecca?

Lady Rebecca: He is one of my lovers. He does not pay me for sex. I give him full and unrestricted access to my body, without charge.

[At this point, M. Battaglia seemed momentarily engaged in loosening his necktie]

M. Battaglia: Do you have many such lovers, Lady Rebecca?

Lady Rebecca: A great many. I am a woman with a very large sexual appetite – and a single lover cannot really satisfy me. I enjoy making love in exchange for money, and also purely for my pleasure – with the right woman, or man.

[Once again, M. Battaglia seemed in need of loosening his collar and tie]

M. Battaglia: And your husband, Lady Rebecca? What was his attitude to your very promiscuous sex life?

Lady Rebecca: That is what attracted him to me in the first place. He was a client, and therefore knew exactly the kind of woman that I was. After we married, he encouraged me to live my life to the full – to continue in my chosen profession, and to take as many other lovers as I wished. As you know, from the details I have disclosed about my apartment in Marseille, my late husband also loved to watch me at work …

M. Battaglia: Lady Rebecca – did you love your late husband?

Lady Rebecca: Of course! He was the most wonderful

husband that a woman such as me could possibly have.

Manifestation parisienne du 5 décembre, interview du secrétaire départemental du Snudi-Force Ouvrière par la télévision chinoise.

These days I was writing for an interview that the people of letoy sent me... they also wanted me drawing a portrait of myself for the interview so I made this crazy collage :)

Estos días he estado contestando una entrevista que los chicos de letoy me han mandado. Ellos me hanpedido que acompañe la entrevista con un autoretrato, así es que dibujé este autoretrato extraño :)
