The ghostly, silver twisted skeleton of a tree caught up in a previous lava flow at the Lava Butte, Oregon, US.
(Wish I knew how to do an arty post-treatment on this image to really make it pop.)
This meandering potted plant was specifically conceived to project its shadow onto the adjacent wall ! Seen in the Chinese Garden at the Huntington Library & Botanical Gardens.
Across the seas our hearts still intertwine! Love can be fleeting, but love is always kind.

I've become such a subtly different artist than I used to be. It's a thrill. Once I was lured by falsities of audience validation. Once I believed my worth to be tied to productivity. It wasn't long ago. A year? A month ago? And now?
I see myself intertwined with my past self, my future self. In that embrace of old and new there is no shame. If you feel shame in your transformation, let it go. It has no place in the work we are doing to become who we are meant to be.
I am a patchwork. I see it in the roles I embody minute to minute.
Mother. Daughter. Sister. Wife.
Photographer. Writer. Sculptor. Painter.
Entrepreneur. Educator. Speaker. Mentor.
In all my roles: dreamer.
In dreaming: discovery.
In discovery: curiosity.
In everything: enough.
To make this image, I photographed myself in many positions with slight variations in angle to ensure different pieces would fit together. Creating shadows was key to making the pieces fit naturally. Suspension of belief was key to fitting them together in the first place.
A surrealist quilt of flesh. Frankensteined - which is to say: sewn with hope, flawed, human. Just like my life. Just like yours. Sewn with hope. Flawed. Human.

I don't know why I keep subjecting myself to creating this headache-causing diptych. :p
And now I'm stuck with an untitled dip....
Update: Yay, thanks Van for the title. :) I like it.
HFF! Hope you all have a great day!

This is one image in a series focusing on black vases in a limbo setting. It's a simple idea really, black on black with just enough light to reveal curves, lines and shapes. Along with the vases, a flower or two. If you would like to view more in this series, click on this link: Black Vases Series
