Rockets need fuel to propel themselves. Even the most efficient ones would need tremendous amounts of fuel to travel interstellar distances. A ramjet avoids this limitation by collecting its fuel as it moves through space. It uses a gigantic funnel to collect interstellar hydrogen.
Interstellar space is mostly empty, but not entirely. Hydrogen atoms are scattered throughout space. If you could scoop up enough and feed them to a fusion reactor, you could theoretically travel forever.

Bu tarz filmler salonlara safi eğlenmeye giden genel seyirciye sıkıcı gelebilir, fakat aynı zamanda bilim bazlı büyüleyici ve karmaşık görselleri elde edebilmek için eğlencelik “blockbuster” filmlere fırlatılan bütçeye ihtiyacı vardır. Belki de bu yüzden bu filmler vizyona girdiği dönemlerde ortalama eleştiriler alıp, ‘saçmasapan’ ve ‘mantıksız’ damgası verilip bir kenara atılıyor, ta ki on-yirmi sene sonra zamanının ötesinde birer şaheser olarak taçlandırılıncaya kadar.
1968 yılında Kubrick’in 2001: Bir Uzay Macerası vizyona girdiğinde seyirciler ve eleştirmenler hem sinema dilini bu kadar zorlayan, hem de insanlığın olası geleceğini bu kadar detaylı bir biçimde inceleyen bir film ile ne yapacaklarını şaşırmışlardı. Bu dönemde filmin ortasında küfür ederek sinemadan çıkan seyirciler, 2001’i yerden yere vuran eleştirmenler bulmak zor değildi. Fakat on yıllar sonra Kubrick’in filmi teknik bir şaheser olarak anılmakla kalmıyor, insanlığın kapsamını ve evrendeki yerini derin bir dürüstlükle inceleyen filozofik bir sanat eseri olarak da biliniyor.
Gerçek 2001 yılında vizyona giren Kubrick/Spielberg şaheseri Yapay Zeka ise özellikle sınırları zorlayan karmaşık finali yüzünden ilk başta anlaşılmamıştı, bir kenara atılmıştı. Fakat sadece sekiz yıl sonra ilk vizyona girdiğinde kötü puan veren eleştirmenler bile içinde bulunduğu on yılın en iyi filmlerinden bir olduğunu kabul ettiler. Gerçek yapay zeka teknolojisi ilerledikçe o filmin değerinin giderek daha da çok anlaşılacağını tahmin ediyorum.
Şimdi ise sıra bol bol tartışma yaratma, eleştirmenler ve seyirci tarafından anlaşılamama, bundan on-yirmi yıl sonra bir şaheser olarak adlandırılma sırası Christopher Nolan’ın muhteşem, cesur, aşırı kuvvetli bir biçimde duygusal olduğu kadar karmaşık, ve sinema sanatının sınırlarını zorlamaktan haz alan modern sert bilim-kurgu şaheseri Yıldızlararası’nda.
Vizyona girdiği günlerde Yıldızlararası hakkında bir sürü hiddetli tartışmalar oluşacak. İlk karesinden son karesine kadar hem bilimsel, hem de duygusal bakımdan bu kadar ağır ve bu kadar cesaret dolu bir yapımın zaten seyirciyi ikiye böleceği kesin. Bir de bu duruma son yirmi, yirmi beş dakikanın sinema tarihinde görülmemiş bir ‘öteye’ balıklama dalmasını akılda tutarsak Yıldızlararası hakkında uzun bir süre konuşacağız gibi görünüyor. Film daha ABD’de bile vizyona girmeden eleştirmenlerin bazılarının final hakkında sövüp sayması, benim aralarında bulunduğum bazılarının ise huşu dolu bir trans ile Nolan’ın cesaretine tapması elde bu kadar devrimsel bir örnek varken normal karşılanmalı.
Yıldızlararası’nın hikayesi hakkında herhangi bir detay vermek seyirciye haksızlık olacaktır. Daha ilk on dakikasından sonra bile film hakkında önemli detayları vermekten ustalıkla kaçınan fragmanların aktardığı hikaye elementleri bitiyor. Bu bakımdan tek bildiğimiz Matthew McConaughey’in canlandırdığı Cooper isimli bir pilotun insanlığın geleceğini kurtarmak için aralarında çok sevdiği kızının da bulunduğu ailesini geride bırakıp uzaya gitmek zorunda kaldığı. Emin olun, salonlara girmeden önce bu kadarcık detay ile yetinmeniz yeter de artar.
Bunun dışında senaryonun hiçbir başka detayına dokunmak istemediğim için Yıldızlararası’nı geçmiş Nolan sinemasının tekniği ile kıyaslayacağım. İlk olarak daha önce teknik bakımdan mükemmel olmasına rağmen hikaye bakımından fazla klinik ve soğuk bir havaya sahip olduğuna dair eleştiriler alan Nolan, Yıldızlararası ile teknik bakımdan en karmaşık yapımını inşa etmenin yanında kariyerinin en duygusal filmini de ortaya koyuyor. İnsan olmanın hem evrenin genişliği ve bilinmezliği ile, hem de sevginin ve inancın gücü ile bağlantısını McConaughey ve kızı arasındaki ilişki ile bir arada tutmayı başarıyor Nolan.
Yıldızlararası’nın içerdiği bilim-kurgu elementleri cool dizaynlar ile seyirciyi etkilemek için değil, yarattığı dünyanın gereksinimlerini olabildiğince gerçekçi bir biçimde göstermek için ferah bir minimalizme sahip. Mesela her uzay bazlı filmde gelişmiş yapay zekaya insansı bir görünüm verilir. Yıldızlararası’nda 2001’deki kocaman monolitleri hatırlatan robotlar görsel etkileyicilik yerine verimliliğe odaklanıyorlar.
Nolan, hikayesini güneş sisteminin ötesine götürmesine rağmen geçen senenin muazzam Yerçekimi’nde olduğu gibi uzayı bilimsel bakımdan olabildiğince gerçekçi bir biçimde betimlemeyi başarıyor. Dış uzay çekimlerinde ses birden kayboluyor ve Hans Zimmer’ın muazzam müziği ile başbaşa kalıyoruz.
On-yirmi yıl sonra eleştirmenler ve sinema severler tarafından zamanının ötesinde bir bilim-kurgu şaheseri olarak anılmasını bırakın, küresel ısınma yüzünden insanlığın geleceğini tehlikeye atacak problemler ile yüzleşmek zorunda kalacak bir sonraki jenerasyona biraz da olsun ümit aşılayacak bir film olma ihtimali bile var Yıldızlararası’nın.
Bu kadar geniş, karmaşık ve özellikle kocaman bütçesine kıyasla cesur bir yapım hakkında konuşulacak, detaylara girilecek çok şey var tabii ki. Fakat bu kadar erken bir raddede tek tavsiyem salonları bir an önce doldurmanız, özellikle sert bilim-kurgudan, akıl dahil bütün duyuları zorlayan sinemasal meydan okumalardan haz alıyorsanız.

Hans Zimmer sarà accompagnato sul palco dai 15 componenti della sua band, un’orchestra e un coro, raggiungendo così i sessanta musicisti sul palco.
Hans Zimmer ha lavorato ad oltre 120 film che hanno incassato, insieme, più di 24 miliardi di dollari. Tra i progetti in uscita prossimamente ci sono: The Last Face di Sean Penn e Hidden Figures, con Pharrell Williams. Zimmer ha ricevuto un Academy Award, 2 Goldn Globes, tre Grammys, un American Music Award e un Tony Award. L'ultima volta che è stato candidato all'Oscar è stato con Interstellar, quella è stata la decima nomantion della sua carriera. Nel 2003 la ASCAP lo ha voluto premiare la sua carriera con il prestigioso Henry Mancini Award. Nel 2010 ha ricevuto una stella sulla celebre Hollywood Walk Of Fame.
