With the help of a mining company, Blue Sky Aviation opened up the Tseel Sum and Tugrug airstrips in 2013, and landed on the strips for the first time with the Reaching the Light team to meet with developmentally disabled children in both towns.

General Info:

Reaching the Light Center provides therapy services for developmentally disabled Mongolian children living in rural areas where there is no such care. During the summer months, a team of doctors and therapists make trips to the remote countryside to identify children with developmental problems and invite good candidates to attend a two-week intensive therapy and training in Ulaanbaatar (UB). This kind of therapy is unavailable in the Mongolian countryside. The goal for RTL is to train parents to do specific exercises and provide them with the equipment they need to perform the exercises at home so their children can reach their maximum potential.

Countryside screenings in the past have required travel by car, train, and bus in the worst conditions and on terrible roads. Two screening trips have been made using Blue Sky Aviation (MAF), and the hope is that with charitable funding, all trips will be by air, including bringing children and parents to and from the capital for therapy.

During a February 2015 Intensive, TNS students gathered data on the flora and fauna of southwestern Puerto Rico with guidance from the Marine and Coastal Ecology Research Center. They learned to observe underwater life, analyze sand, and see the connections between habitats such as coral reefs, sea grass meadows, intertidal zones, beach, mangroves, and lagoons. They documented their findings through field notes, drawings and photographs. The students wrote an authentic research report which they submitted to the Research Center to assist in prioritizing areas for conservation.

Individualize attention to help this student be successful at activities is well planned and implemented. Teaching him to hold on to the handles and encouraging peers to interact with him is so important.

As part of updating the ITU website, my current employer have been using my photographic skills to generate some patient information pictures - of course, I couldn't resist the odd arty one. GMC Note: Not a real patient, full model release obtained.

Translation

Special Forces have from 10 to 22 November perfected in combat in urbanized areas. They did so at the King Abdullah Special Operations Training Center (KASOTC) near Amman, Jordan.

The vast and remote training camp is the perfect location to practice in special forces advanced urban combat, special combat techniques in urban areas. In addition to intercept operators in the built-up quickly and can move safely, vehicles, houses invade and purify, criminals overpower and liberate hostages.

"The last decades of warfare changed significantly," says Fly, one of the most experienced operators. "Today is all about counterinsurgency irregular warfare:. Small groups that fight each other in the cities in the conflict area, there is no stable government more and the fighters wear no longer a recognizable uniform The enemy is difficult to identify They are heavily armed fighters.. entrench themselves in buildings where women and children stay. You can not just bomb the whole district, the collateral damage is incalculable. Thereupon a classically trained army not immediately ready answer. "

To perfect the techniques and procedures, train the special forces with live ammunition and explosives. Thereby prevails course the safety of victims, neighbors and of course the operators themselves. The Jordanian training it is possible to train every aspect apart, but the special forces also get there realistic scenarios presented in which all techniques are discussed.

Special Forces training could also perform in Europe, but spread over various training areas and periods. The KASOTC provides the infrastructure to practice all the techniques at once. Every two years, through the operators a course here and the other year there is a makeover.

The synthesis exercise in Jordan is the climax of intensive training in Belgium. The special forces are raising the bar even higher. Speed is essential, in addition to their own safety and that of the hostage. This means that the precision of the shots and the amount of explosives has to be perfect. When the special forces storming a room, they can defuse a hostage taker with one shot. At the end of the training period, each operator must therefore be able to hit a few meters away from all moving an enemy in the head. Now they are back in Belgium, they are more than ever ready for their next assignment.
