Not one for everyone, but trying to find something a bit different at Cardiff Central this tele-view captures the 7.05pm Westerleigh Murco - Robertson Sidings empty petroleum tankers (6B47) disappearing away from the Welsh capital and heading west to Pembrokeshire for another refill.
DB Cargo 'Sheds' 66034 and 66176 are doing the honours and don't look like they are sparing the horses either as they catch a bit of sundown glint.
On the left is the once sizeable Cardiff Canton depot (86A), back in the 1970s home to numerous class 37s on coal-traffic duties from the Valleys, as well as visiting locomotives from other regions. Nowadays it's perhaps even busier, but this time mostly with Transport for Wales's DMUs engaged in the more intensive schedules now operating in these parts. It still sees a bit of locomotive activity however looking after the small fleet of TfW class 67 'Skip' units used on their longer distance passenger services. In this shot a couple of class 231s can be seen, and a class 197, which I believe to be 197019.
I was taken by the way the rampant purple-flowering weed growing in the permanent way was capturing the last of the sun's rays. Sadly I haven't been able to get a positive ID on it.

Hazel was recently diagnosed with IVDD . One day she simply collapsed in agonizing pain. Now, after back surgery and intensive vet care, she is beginning to walk again. Her leaping and scampering days are over, but we are so happy with her amazing progress!
This male kōlea is about two weeks from his annual migration to the Alaskan tundra. Looking fat and dapper in his breeding plumage, he will somehow sense the time to congregate with other previously solitary kōlea and depart collectively. The trip spans over approximately 3,000 miles of open ocean requiring a rigorous, energy intensive effort of 3 to 4 days and nights of nonstop flight at elevation ranging from 3,000 to 16,000 feet. Superb navigators with territorial fidelity, kōlea use the stars and the earth’s magnetic field to find their way over the featureless ocean to the same small patch of territory every year. They may use the earth’s magnetic field visually with the magnetoreception molecules of cryptochrome in their retina.
Remembering the beauty and warmth of summer in time when temperatures getting less than -30ºC (-37ºC in some places).
Intensive living
If you stand in one of the typical courtyards of Hong Kong, you can see how intense it is to live together in such a small space. The Chinese special administrative region Hong Kong is roughly the size of Stuttgart and Berlin put together. However, around 7.5 million residents crowd into it.

Compositionally Challenged Week 27 - Storytelling
Shot while visiting a family member. The story started with a fantastic Alaskan cruise but then turned serious on the last day. He had to be hospitalized in British Columbia for 11 days and then was flown back to Colorado via air ambulance yesterday. His wife had to drive their vehicle home by herself, arriving just tonight. We've all been on edge and will be for a while.
I'll be popping in and out but I might not get around to commenting much, my apologies! : )

Decorative tiling in an Art Nouveau/ Art Deco building, Lindfield. Without intensive examination I would say that the building is on the cusp of these two styles; however the colours in the tiling make me lean towards Art Deco as I've seen similar in regional buildings that are more clearly part of the great Art Deco building boom in Australia.

The living conditions of animals in intensive farming are incompatible with minimum standards of animal welfare, and furthermore, they are leading the planet to collapse.

Le condizioni di vita degli animali negli allevamenti intensivi sono incompatibili con standard minimi di benessere animale, e inoltre, stanno portando il pianeta al collasso.
