May 2024 might be among the hottest summers in living memory here in the Philippines. But cooling down amidst the rock formations at Tubahin Beach, Lubang Island, makes this a memorable summer for the right reasons.

The account of how I became increasingly aware of the cosmological and biological dimensions of existence is the story of my life. My quest for understanding this larger context of things conditioned all the decisions I made about my life. I saw life within its larger context, eventually within the context of the universe itself. I was immersed in the mystery of things, in the mysterious powers expressed in natural phenomena. The various living beings I experienced as integral with my own existence.

These were the first words that came to my mind as I saw this Snail Kite, photographed over Lake Kissimmee, Florida. They are beautiful raptors that only eat the Apple snail. Where the snails are you will find the Snail Kite. This was just before the breeding season and we were lucky to spend a few mornings with them. The weather could have been nicer though.

Saw these cliffs lit up by the setting sun and an intense rainbow after a storm as we were driving along I-40.

A candid street photo captured at La Lutetia, a sidewalk café in Le Marais district of Paris. I took this shot with my Olympus E-M1, Mark II camera.

Aberdeen is currently hosting SPECTRA, Scotland’s Festival of Light, and as we can't get to see it ourselves, I thought I'd make my own Light Show that can at least fill the computer monitor with some intense colour ☺️!!

Happy Sliders Sunday! 😊

I intentionally photographed Simba this way to give the photograph a more dramatic effect on overall look in his eyes, and the intense look on his face.

For Sliders Sunday

I didn't set out to make a statement here but as I was playing around with some edits to a photo of a solitary dying White Birch tree, this happened. It actually startled me when I first saw it on the screen. It immediately reminded me of what is happening to our planet and decided to use it for Sliders Sunday. Then I changed my mind...several times. But here it is.

I looked out and saw the colors developing, grabbed my camera and went out on the deck and managed some shots before the light was gone. Sometimes you get lucky.

haha sorry, gotta put in another disclaimer - I'm quite happy right now :)

I captured this image at the Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding California. Liberty (female) and Guardian (male) are a nesting pair of bald eagles that nest in a big tree on the river there. I’m not sure which bird this is but I saw it fly away from the nest on this January morning and I knew they were actively nest building. Therefore, I stood and waited for the bird to return, hoping to get a shot if it carrying some nesting material. The bird did not disappoint as it came back carrying a stick some time later. However, it dropped it before I could get a shot. What happened next was really wonderful to witness. The bird abruptly turned around rammed in to a dead pine branch in a tree not 30 feet from me, breaking a piece off with a very loud crack before resuming its journey back to the nest. Foliage obscured me from getting an image of the actual moment the majestic bird broke the branch off but I’ll never forget witnessing it and I like the intense look captured in this frame as the bird was midway through its u-turn and coming right toward me.
