Latin American Integration Center and Make the Road by Walking celebrated the announcement of their merger at SEIU 32BJ's Auditorium on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 to a packed audience. Schools Chancellor Joel Klein, joined us to celebrate the event. The new organization, Make the Road New York, has four locations in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, and will combine:
* democratic accountability to low-income people;
* an innovative mix of strategies to confront inequality and economic injustice; and
* deep and active community roots.
Make the Road New York honored Joseph Hansen, President of United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Roberta Kaplan, Partner at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP and Andrea Batista Schlesinger, Executive Director at the Drum Major Institute. We thank all of our friends and allies for your support throughout the years and look forward to working with you as we move in to this important next phase in our organization’s development.

„In die Erde mit den Papas – Kartoffelvielfalt am Sonntag im Tausendschön Dein Gemeinschaftsgarten in Minden war mit rund 150 Menschen eine gelungene Veranstaltung und ein voller Erfolg! Sonne, blauer Himmel haben die gute Laune der großen und kleinen Gäste aus 12 Kulturen erstrahlen lassen.
Gemeinsam haben wir ein starkes Zeichen für Vielfalt, Kreativität, Genuss und Lebensfreude gesetzt.
16 Kartoffelsorten wurden in Eimer, Kübel, Töpfen und auf den Acker gepflanzt.
43 kg Gemüse zu einer leckeren Kartoffelsuppe während einer Schnippelparty verarbeitet.
