Salvador Dalí’s The Ecumenical Council (1960) is a monumental oil painting that reflects Dalí’s religious mysticism and homage to the coronation of Pope John XXIII in 1958. The composition integrates spiritual and atomic elements, with the nude figure of God the Father atop the celestial realm framed by the architecture of St. Peter’s Basilica. Below, the Holy Spirit appears as a hovering dove, and Christ is surrounded by pulsing atomic particles, anchoring the Trinity in an ethereal landscape reminiscent of Dalí’s native Catalonia.

A self-portrait of Dalí is present in the lower left, referencing Velázquez’s Las Meninas (1656). Depicted as a painter at work, Dalí casts himself as a witness to the Pope’s coronation. Gala, Dalí’s muse, appears as Saint Helena, symbolizing devotion and spiritual unity. The grand scale and intricate layers make this one of Dalí’s most ambitious religious works. The painting was a gift of A. Reynolds and Eleanor Morse to The Dalí Museum, St. Petersburg, FL, USA.

Dalí: Disruption and Devotion, an exhibit on display at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston from July 6 to December 1, 2024, juxtaposes nearly 30 paintings and prints on loan from the Salvador Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, with European masterpieces from the MFA’s collection.

The Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1870 and relocated to its current neoclassical building designed by architect Guy Lowell at 465 Huntington Avenue in 1909. The museum's vast collection spans over 500,000 works of art, with highlights including ancient Egyptian artifacts, 18th- and 19th-century American art, French Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces, and a renowned collection of Asian art. Originally located in a Gothic Revival building in Copley Square, much of the museum’s early collection came from the Boston Athenaeum Art Gallery. Over the years, the museum expanded significantly, adding the Decorative Arts Wing in 1968, the Norman Jean Calderwood Garden Court and Terrace in 1997, and a modern Americas Wing in the mid-2000s designed by Foster and Partners.

Checking that a piece of rubber (actually the redundant damper strip) is a suitable thickness for the platen. The integral platen backplate is screwed in position, the rubber held between it and the countwheels. By operating the platen I found that the rubber could be pressed against the countwheels.

Cody Matthieu is the founder and owner of Navajo Mermaid Arizona. Integrating both fashion and tech, he is now using his blueprint to help other designers in his local area!

Cody graduated top of his class at Arizona State University with a Bachelor’s degree from the newly founded College of Interdisciplinary Sciences & Arts. This program is unique in it allows students to double major in both Business Entrepreneurship and Design.

Cody’s Thesis and entire theoretical 50-page manuscript by adding 30 pages to his process paper then manifested itself into an 80-page book. The book reads as a guide to help other inspiring emerging designers getting initiated into the game of fashion. Furthermore, he uses the book as a platform to express a entire experience as a fashion student and how he would interpret fashion from an interdisciplinary entrepreneurial point of view. The book’s title is, “The Occult vs. Fashion, The Path of Success”

After emerging into all things fashion, Cody found himself starting the brand called Navajo Mermaid Arizona. Navajo Mermaid markets all clothing made and designed by Matthieu. What was first a hobby has taken off into a complex story where through this journey Cody finds himself and expresses himself through the clothes designed.

On 18–19 September, Europe’s space industry from start-up companies to large system integrators gathered at ESA–ESTEC in the Netherlands for Industry Space Days 2024.

This is a key event for most companies involved in space in Europe, they gain insights into ESA’s near and long-term activities and procurement needs. Thousands of one-on-one prescheduled meetings between companies will have marked the start of useful business collaborations and increased their chances in future ESA procurements and commercial activities.

An exhibition hall with 170 stands was a valuable way for companies to discover, discuss or showcase technologies and make useful contacts.

There were more than 2000 registered participants representing 1100 companies from 42 countries at ISD 2024. For many of these companies, this event is an essential part of their business strategy.

Before dismantling the printer chassis, I refitted the counter assembly and measured the gaps for the rubber parts with the shanks of twist drill bits.
