At the Crossroads of Economic Development, Transition and Integration: ‘Slovenia - The Right Mix of Qualities’
The Republic of Slovenia is at the crossroads of European corridors and is an advanced transition country which is closest to the Western Balkans. Although Slovenia was the first among transition countries to adopt the euro on January 1st 2007, the country was badly hit by the financial crisis. But it took bold measures and fiscal resources to overcome the problems. Lately, Slovenia has enjoyed a high level of growth and is further integrating its economy into European and global value chains.
Slovenia’s position is due to the right mix of qualities, its so-called ‘4Qs4U’: that means that the country has quality links to regional markets, a quality workforce, quality infrastructure and high quality of life. Find out more: www.InvestSlovenia.org. The EBRD has been instrumental in the Slovenian transition. The recently adopted EBRD Country Strategy for Slovenia confirms the Bank’s continuous support to private sector development projects, as well as related infrastructure and other investments. The Country Strategy aims to further strengthen Slovenia’s competitiveness, internationalisation and green economy transition, and so further enhance the 4Qs4U.Find out more about the EBRD in Slovenia: www.ebrd.com/where-we-are/slovenia/overview.html.
This panel was made up of high-level representatives of Slovenian authorities and the EBRD regional team telling the story of Slovenia’s economic transition: how the country built its qualities and how it preserves them.
The event also gave the audience an opportunity to learn about Slovenia’s conducive economic environment for domestic and foreign investors, and to identify future investment opportunities and priorities in the country. Above all, it provided an example of how the hurdles associated with Connecting Economies for Stronger Growth can be managed and how the EBRD can help.

(Photo : Pia Zanetti)

Just as taking the derivative of a function "eats" constants, integrating a function generates constants. Every time an integration is performed a new constant of integration is produced.
