This is Wendell. He is cool. A retried secondary level mathematics and physics instructor, his passion is flying. If you saw my last photo, you know I talked my way onto this tarmac so that I could take pictures... Wendell was there, as was I to see the SkyCranes coming and going all day. It is a very impressive sight up close. When I mentioned I had been given permission to enter, I asked him to come along. Nobody cared. This made his day, big time! He did not want me to leave else he thought he would have to. Not so. The FBO Boss came and talked with us later on and I think Wendell ended up staying all day. He told me he would be if they would have him. As I left to check my girls and I into a hotel, Wendell was talking to the chief custodian of the SkyCranes. I asked him if I could take his picture next to this Falcon Jet. Notice we are on the same side of the fence as the jet!! (I, of course am behind the camera).
I have actually joined the 100 Strangers Project. This was to be my second stranger. I have photographed two for the project so far, but have lagged in getting all the things the group wants me to do in order, so instead of a stranger, here is my new friend, Wendell. If you go to Richfield, Utah, I am sure you can find him spotting planes, probably from inside the gate, at the regional airport.
Oh, the biz-jet: Its a Dassault-Breguet Falcon 10 belonging to the Wolverine Gas & Oil Company of Michigan. (I talked to the pilots...they were way cool).
