This is 30 years expired Polaroid instant slide film.
What looks like a shot from a TV screen are the colour filter stripes overlaid on the B/W instant slide film.
These stripes mess with my slide scanner and create those crazy moiré colour waves that are scanning artifacts.
I've tried different resloutions with no success - the interference happens with the CCD sensor of the scanner.

As with all instant slide films I have tried the negative emulsion sticks to the postitve instead of the derveloper tape.
This time I've managed to get it off withourt scratching the film.
Immediately after developing I stuck the film to a brown packing tape.
When I pulled the tape off the negative stuck ot the packing tape EXCEPT WHERE THE IMAGES WERE.
This is probably because it was still wet with developer paste.
After letting the film dry overnigt I tried again to catch one end of the layer with clear office tape and not only did it come loose but I could pull the whole nagative layer off in one piece after taping one end.
Finally I have found way to remove the neg layer without scratching the delicate silver layer !

This is how instant coffe looks like from, really close. The rotation blur probably comes from the diaphragm blades movement. 55-200 mm lens over an inverted 50mm lens. The DoF looks extremely narrow.

Minolta 16 SpyCam, about 1961. This roll of film was inside the camera when I bought it. The roll was in bad condition. It was in a Minolta 16 cassette, still sealed with Minolta tape, and was Kodacolor 200 C-41 film, so after about 1973 or so. I developed it in b&w HC-110B developer. These are the Instant Ancestors that appeared. It is a party of some sort.
Instant Reborn event started 2 days ago and quite a crowd gathered on this sunny Saturday afternoon in the store. I felt happy seeing familiar faces who were in our event 2 years ago, lingering around chit chatting with each other.
Interestingly camera people usually have quite decent stamping etiquette, not like those who make quite a mess stamping on the table and wasting so much postcards without reading instructions on the how-to.
The passport book is so much fun and from what I heard, many like the idea and decided to own one at HK$25.
Polaroid collector TM refurbished some 636 cameras and painted them black and white, added "Instant Reborn" face plates, there you go, a limited edition "Instant Reborn" camera for the event, at this stage only 10 pieces are available. A leather/camera/watch fanatic Jemmer helped to add a leather strap too. It also came with a nice cotton bag and is sold at HK$1395 with a free pack of PX-600 film.
I did sold an SX-70 and a few pack of films myself today to a lady who is going to give this as a gift to her husband. I forgot to ask her to take a picture with Dr. Land though, people from the community did this naturally and one of them looks very much alike Dr. Land :)
BTW, Mijonju came all the way from Tokyo to this event, I bet he will be having a lot of fun going through TM's camera collections tomorrow in a private appointment.
Although the exhibiting items are not as jam packed as in 2008, we do have some polaroid T-shirts, poster, SX-70 shutter button, straps, etc for sale. I wish I could have more time to create better contents, but the not so stable PX films did gave me a few hiccups. Anyway, I'm glad we have good support from the community, I can't wait for next week's talk in City University.

"Busch Instant Pressman"
This gorgeous camera is a Busch Pressman Model C. Originally designed to take photos on 2x3" sheet film, this camera could also be used with 6x9 roll film adapters to shoot 120 format film.
2x3" sheet film is awkard to use, and I didn't have a 120 film adapter, so I decided to go for something a little different, and adapted it to take Fuji Instax Mini!
The resulting camera allows you to take instant photos on a professional 1950's Press camera! The camera features a Wollensak 101mm f4.5 "Raptar" lens mounted in a Rapax shutter, with a max shutter speed of 1/400th of a second and a minimum of 1 second. Minimum aperture is 32 with a max of f4.5. The "B and T" modes on the shutter are dissabled, and instead the camera utilizes a "preview" button that holds the shutter open, meaning "B and T" settings are not needed. To make a long exposure at night, simply press the lever to open the shutter plades, and push it back again to close them. All shutter speeds, right down to 1 second are perfect.
One of my biggest builds yet, I have done the following to the camera:
- opened and cleaned rangefinder
- opened and cleaned rangefinder magnifier
- opened and cleaned viewfinder
- removed lens and shutter, flocked insides and reassembled
- removed the original film holding assembly
- fashioned a spacer using an original 2"x3" film holder, light proofed and painted the spacer
- modified a Lomography Diana F+ instant back to fit the spacer
- attached spacer and back to the camera
- re-calibrated infinity stop so the camera focuses correctly
- re-calibrated the rangefinder
- added cold shoe mount for clip on accessories
- gave the camera a thorough cleaning (whoever previously owned it had not used it in a LONG time, it was literally caked with brown dust)
The EK4 was the first instant camera made by Kodak USA , produced from 1976-1978 . The Tomland's Instant camera appeared in 1978 , produced by Tomland Industries , Hong Kong . Apparently they did not take a Polaroid Land camera for inspiration as this toy camera shows more resemblance to the EK 4 camera by Kodak , like the rectangular form , the presence of the release knob on the left upper corner (seen from the front) , a picture protrusion knob on the lower left and a picture appearing from the lower side of the camera . Kodak stopped producing instant cameras in 1986 having lost a patent infringement suit from Polaroid. Maybe a complaint from Kodak against Tomland would have been successful....
