"Busch Instant Pressman"

This gorgeous camera is a Busch Pressman Model C. Originally designed to take photos on 2x3" sheet film, this camera could also be used with 6x9 roll film adapters to shoot 120 format film.

2x3" sheet film is awkard to use, and I didn't have a 120 film adapter, so I decided to go for something a little different, and adapted it to take Fuji Instax Mini!

The resulting camera allows you to take instant photos on a professional 1950's Press camera! The camera features a Wollensak 101mm f4.5 "Raptar" lens mounted in a Rapax shutter, with a max shutter speed of 1/400th of a second and a minimum of 1 second. Minimum aperture is 32 with a max of f4.5. The "B and T" modes on the shutter are dissabled, and instead the camera utilizes a "preview" button that holds the shutter open, meaning "B and T" settings are not needed. To make a long exposure at night, simply press the lever to open the shutter plades, and push it back again to close them. All shutter speeds, right down to 1 second are perfect.

One of my biggest builds yet, I have done the following to the camera:

- opened and cleaned rangefinder

- opened and cleaned rangefinder magnifier

- opened and cleaned viewfinder

- removed lens and shutter, flocked insides and reassembled

- removed the original film holding assembly

- fashioned a spacer using an original 2"x3" film holder, light proofed and painted the spacer

- modified a Lomography Diana F+ instant back to fit the spacer

- attached spacer and back to the camera

- re-calibrated infinity stop so the camera focuses correctly

- re-calibrated the rangefinder

- added cold shoe mount for clip on accessories

- gave the camera a thorough cleaning (whoever previously owned it had not used it in a LONG time, it was literally caked with brown dust)

This was my first picture ever taken with an instant-film camera. I still remember that noise, that smell, that nostalgic feeling it gave me. My girlfriend thinks its nothing, but this is my most beautiful picture of her!

Otra vez el cielo de un nuevo atardecer.

In one day, our Thanksgiving Day yesterday, most leaves changed from green to reds and golds. I have never seen such an abrupt change before. On Saturday I had to look hard to find trees with any colour near the building where I was teaching about shooting fall colours. Now they are all around it. Nature is amazing.

(There was no frost or other obvious trigger - except perhaps the full moon light????)

I don't really need a wireless hard drive, but this one can automatically copy files from a memory card. You can easily make a backup of your files on the way back from a photo session. Strange that other companies doesn't include this option in their external drives.

A present from my good friend Guy @www.flourishcreative.co.uk.

A friend gave me a box with a few Polaroid slide films and a Power Processor.

The processor had some rusty rollers and stuck bearings but after some cleaning and a bit of grease it works well.

The films expired in May 1991.

I shot a roll of Polagraph 400 at 50 ISO (one stop per decade) in my T90 and set developing time to 3 instead of the specified 2 minutes.

The results are better than expected. The film seems to be lower contrast and actually yields some halftones.

As with all expired instant 35mm films the black layer sticks to the positive (slide) instead of the egative and has to removed manually.

It can be trubbed off under running water but that and the squeegeeing produces some scratches in the delicate emulsion.

If anyone knows a better way to remove the black layer please let me know.

Another rainy day,

we're trapped inside with a train set

Chocolate on the boil,

steamy windows when we met

You've got the attic window

And on a Sunday evening

Another day in June,

we'll pick eleven for football

We're playing for our lives

I saw you in the corner of my eye on the sidelines

Your dark mascara bids me to historical deeds"

Which one appeal to you more: young, flaming poppy to burn its' bright life in two days or respectable, stout fortess to look upon thousands of passing poppies for centures?
