Stoneborough, set in the Eagle's Eye pass in the Dragonscale mountains of Central Lenfald, is a naturally a well defensible city. It is protected by steep rock cliffs which form natural walls. The surrounding landscape is broken and rocky, crossed by swift mountain streams and ravines, and covered in dense pine forest.
However, the man-made walls which protect the city had fallen into disrepair over the years, particularly during the period of the Queen's rule.
When the the ambitious new Duke, Eberhard Strong, rose to power after the queen's overthrow, he began a massive project to rebuild and strengthen the walls. Funded by investments in the new colonies and money from the high Lord, the skilled Stoneborough masons have replaced damaged portions of the wall, and added new towers, as well as several feet to the entire height of the wall.
This scene shows a typical section of the wall on the southwest of the city. It shows the addition to the wall, the new battlements and one of the towers. It also shows one of the several mountain streams which run through the city, providing fresh water.
Duke Eberhard Strong is riding out to hunt along a wooden causeway which leads down from one of the city gates, smoothly crossing ravines and streams.

This is only my third attempt at proper medieval fortifications, and I'm quite happy with how it turned out.
The basic inspiration came from this large and impressive build. I liked but he did with the rock cliffs around the city, but I didn't want to simply copy what had already been done, and I had my own ideas about how the wall should look. Therefore, in keeping with the theme of the LC, I had the idea of showing later additions to the wall. The lower mostly light gray section is meant to represent the original wall, and the dark bluish gray the additions.

Watching the news this morning was so depressing...and I have so much work to do today...I was desperately seeking inspiration and trying hard to find the optimist with in me...
Then it occurred to me others might be feeling the same way...so I should share...sharing always makes me happy :-)

Dear Partner -
A few ideas. For this round, please keep the colors on the soft side. I like solids and prints or a mix of both. As you can see from the various mosaics, almost any piecing style works. I like it all!
I am sure you will create something I'll love, especially if it is a little bit me and a little bit you.

I thought it might be time to throw in some colour, but I always get quite anxious about it! Still, I've got a good shadow to keep me company and help me feel at home...
And for those who don't get into these things, turn away now as there will be no more here about this here shot, but rather I am accepting Nina's www.flickr.com/photos/21560098@N06 challenge to keep talking about myself. I have to admit, it kinda makes me feel a bit of a dick, but I'm sure I'm just being silly. Hopefully.
1. Needless to say after that, but I can get quite anxious over how people will take my meaning, if you take my meaning. Now, this is only the case if I like or respect you. If I don't know you, don't like you or think you're a dead shit, then who gives a brass razoo what you think, but if I like you etc, then I worry about shitting you off. But usually I'm quite good at turning the worry off, or at last ignoring it!!
2. In repose I can look really stern, but at the same time I smile so much that the crows feet on either side of my eyes have been mini valleys since I was in my late teens!
3. I love a good midnight boogie in the back garden with my ipod.
4. Half my family are musicians, as are a large number of my friends, but I've never had the patience or courage to learn anything. But I've started to realise I can sing a bit. That's fun, although I've yet to subject anyone to it much!
5. I worked in bookshops for about 8 years and have always had a real thing for books. I have over 5000 of the buggers and they cover every available (spare) surface in our living room. As well as the five bookcases and the picture rail running around the room. Although I haven't read many books this past year and a half as my reading has been almost entirely online and related to various projects and work, books have been my salvation, temptation, inspiration and balm for many years and I'm sure they will continue to be so.

Not long ago I was asked about my favorite color (yet again). The point is that I don’t have just one. I have preferable color for anything: clothes, shoes, eyes, flowers... And if you ask me which color is my favorite when it comes to photography, I’ll say it’s blue.
Of course, those belong to my lovely contacts. <3
Aren’t they pure inspiration? =)

My second model built around the big 2x4 brick, after the egg.
This time I've revisited the beginning of 2001: A Space Odyssey (and totally plagiarized the opening scene of the Barbie movie), but replaced the monolith, that fosters human evolution and pushes hominins to use bones as weapons, by a giant Lego brick, which I see as a source of creativity.
A number of images representing things that I draw inspiration from, see if you can point them all out!
