To be conscious of how insignificant we are, is significant

@ Newborough beach, Anglesey

As well as finding plenty of larvae, I also found some pupae. Some has already been vacated, but a few were still occupied. I brought a couple back with me, to see what emerges, so that I can hopefully confirm the ID!

There is nothing quite like looking at the world from the same perspective as your subject. You can then appreciate how what to us looks insignificant can be quite daunting to our miniature friends.

The world is shrinking as we see more and more of it in the media, and the more we see of the world, the smaller we are, the more aware we are of how insignificant any one of us is.

P.S. Non-HDR / Non-GND-filtered /

Since we got a small apartment on the Cantabrian coast, my forays through the Port of Pozazal have increased exponentially. I can't complain about my background with passenger trains but with freight trains things change radically. Occasionally I have managed to take some interesting photos but there are trains with which, no matter how hard I try, I have no luck. The Cementos Alfa train, for example, is a regular on the line that I have met many times but I have never seen it with a locomotive without graffiti. Last Friday I saw it again and, as expected, the condition of the locomotive invited us to hide the camera. However, as the light was very good, I decided to photograph it and, armed with infinite courage, I managed to clean the locomotive up to show the appearance that you can see in the photo. The Cantabrian Mountains showed the last remains of snow of the season so I wasn't going to waste this photo because of a "insignificant" graffiti. No, if here the one who is not motivated is because he doesn't want to...

A couple walking a long the beach in Maui.

we are insignificant.

View in all sizes to see all the ridiculous insignificant details I'm gonna be talking about. Also keep in mind I take all my photos with flash so lighting and stuff like that varies.

So a while back I was doing face comparisons for all the Jakks dolls, but I kiiiinda got lazy and gave up after Bloom, Stella, and Flora. But now I'm redoing them and I'm gonna make it through all six girls, so here we go. Starting off with Bloom again! Since my last one I've added Sparkling Lights Sirenix Bloom, Underwater Sirenix Bloom, Believix Power Bloom, and Bloomix Bloom.

I also slimmed it down to not include ones with faces that are like, 99% the same. So I didn't include like, Summer vs City Fashions or something. Not pictured is SDCC Bloom because I couldn't get a good picture of her and she's still in her box. And of course I'm missing a few, so this isn't a perfect comprehensive list.

I hope this is actually informative and interesting to some people but chances are it's just gonna be rambling on for like twenty paragraphs. :P

So here we go!

L-R: Believix Bloom

Top Row - Sophix Bloom, Magic Wings Bloom, Harmonix Bloom, Sirenix Bloom, Believix Power Bloom, Bloomix Bloom

Bottom Row - Concert Stage Bloom, City Style Bloom, Charmix Bloom, Underwater Sirenix Bloom, City Fashions Bloom, Sparkling Lights Sirenix Bloom

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Believix Bloom

Surprisingly enough this isn't the face Jakks has used most, but it does seem to serve as the basis for almost all future deluxe faces. This face has a medium tone pink lipstick, a light orange-y pink color on her eyelids, a light pink eyeshadow above her eyelids, and clear glitter on top. Good vs Evil Enchantix Bloom also uses this face. Pink Enchantix Bloom uses this face as well, but with very heavy silver glitter on top.

Later runs of Believix Bloom use the Sophix Bloom face, while earlier ones use the one pictured here.

Sophix Bloom

Very similar to Believix Bloom, but not quite. Instead of pink lipstick she has a colder purple color. Later runs of Believix Bloom also use this face.

Magic Wings Bloom

Like Sophix Bloom, this one is very similar to Believix Bloom but with different lipstick. This doll has a much brighter hot pink lipstick than Believix.

Earlier runs of this doll use the Concert face, and later ones use a modified version of the Believix face as pictured here.

Harmonix Bloom

Obviously based off of the Believix Bloom face, but it does have some notable differences. This doll's lipstick is a very similar color to Magic Wings Bloom's but with a shimmery finish, the makeup on her eyelid is a light purple, and the makeup above her eyelid has a more purple-y tint than before.

Sirenix Bloom

Sirenix Bloom was the first to feature a significantly different makeup scheme and really stray away from the Believix face. Her eyebrows are longer, more arched, and a lighter color. Her lipstick is almost the same as Harmonix's but with a slightly more purple tint. Her irises aren't outlined like they usually are, and eyelids are much larger and more prominent than previous Blooms. She has a dark purple color on her eyelids and a light pink eyeshadow above them.

Believix Power Bloom

Back to basics! Her makeup is similar to Believix's, but everything is generally in a much warmer tone. Her eyeshadow is much more uniform and all one color, and she has much heavier red blush. Her eyebrows are now a dark brown opposed to the usual light orange-y brown.

Bloomix Bloom

This doll also seems to be based off the Believix Bloom face, but her makeup is quite unique despite that. She has dark eyebrows like Believix Power Bloom, and her lipstick is a sort of bubblegum pink color similar to City Style Bloom. She has a light blue color on her eyelids and on the sides of her eyes, and a light purple eyeshadow above her eyelids.

Concert Stage Bloom

THIS is the face Jakks has used the most. It also serves as the basis for all future budget faces. Unlike deluxe Bloom faces, this face features a cupid's bow on her lips, and her lips are thinner than deluxe Bloom's. They're also a hot pink color like Magic Wings Bloom's. Her eyes have a slightly different shape to them and only have two eyelashes on each side instead of five. She has no makeup on her eyelids and only a light pink eyeshadow above them. Other dolls that use this face are Concert Bloom, Everyday Bloom, Scooter Bloom, and earlier runs of Magic Wings Bloom.

City Style Bloom

Very similar to Concert Stage, but without a cupid's bow, bigger lips, and different makeup. She has a very bubblegum pink color on her lips, eyelids, and above her eyelids.

Charmix Bloom

Obviously based off Concert Stage, but still with notable differences. Her eyes are shorter and the make up above her eyelid has more of a purple tint to it. Her lips also seem to be thinner and are a similar color to Believix Bloom's. She looks kinda sleepy. Her eyebrows are also slightly darker.

Underwater Sirenix Bloom

Almost the same as Concert Stage. The cupid's bow is back and she's got even more understated makeup.

City Fashions Bloom

So besides the 'deluxe' and 'budget' type faces, there's also these, what I call the 'Walgreens' faces since that was the only place anyone could find these for the longest time. They're like weird hybrids between deluxe and concert, she's only got two eyelashes like budget but has big deluxe shaped eyes. She's got bigger lips like deluxe in a similar color to Sophix Bloom's. Her eyebrows are also much more arched than on either type of face, I think it's cute. She has no makeup on her eyelids like budget, and the eyeshadow above her eyelids has a purple tint similar to Charmix Bloom's. Summer Bloom also uses this face.

Sparkling Lights Sirenix Bloom

This one's interesting. She's like Sirenix Bloom, but... not. They have the same bigger eyelids though and she's definitely based off her. Strangely enough despite generally resembling a deluxe face she's got a very prominent cupid's bow like budget faces. Her lipstick is around the same tone as City Fashions and Sophix Bloom's. She has a light purple color on her eyelids and, as a first, no makeup above them aside from clear glitter. She's got the longer more arched eyebrows like Sirenix.

-------------------------------------------

If anyone actually read all that, holy cow, kudos to you.

My personal favorites are Believix Power, City Fashions, and Sparkling Lights Sirenix.

Which are yours?

My pink climbing geranium.

It's actually an ivy geranium, Pelargonium.

It has much prettier flowers and leaves than my others.

I suppose I should look after it ;)

I'd like to explore the scented pelargoniums, prized not for their somewhat insignificant flowers, but their fragrant foliage.

The variety of scents includes lemon, pineapple, rose, lime, apple and peppermint.

In Victorian times, stairways and garden paths were lined with pots of scented pelargoniums so long garments would brush the leaves and perfume the air.

Pelargoniums grow naturally in the Cape Province of South Africa.

In the 17th century they were brought to Europe and called geraniums, a common mistake that persists to this day.

Although both are in the same family, Geraniaceae, they are two completely different genera of plants.

Most of the showy plants found in many nurseries today are hybrid pelargoniums, the result of human tampering.

So I'm actually doing a 100 days project then. Cool. No pressure. Wish me luck! I've tagged a few of you just so that you are aware and because I love you. <3

Today was good. I went to work and then my dad took me to a deer park which is an awesome location and I love it but it's about 20 minutes away. When we got there, there wasn't much light, but I got a few good ones I think. Then we got McDonalds drive through. The sunset was so beautiful and I feel really positive now, I hope that lasts.

Tilt yo screen back a little for this :)

...quizás lo dedique a observar pequeños rincones, lugares olvidados por pequeños o por insignificantes.

I haven't been using Flickr as much this year, so I figured I could turn a beloved tradition (Flickr Year) into something new but equally familiar-looking.

So...welcome to my personal Doll Awards 🏆

This little insignificant ceremony includes five categories:

Doll of the year

Favourite Picture

Favourite Photoshoot

Favourite Casual Shot

Favourite Photo-Edited Shot

Let's start:

Doll of the year: Verity (Day Tripper OOAK)

For me this 2022 was pretty poor in doll pictures, but I think one of my dolls stood out.

Verity was one of the very few dolls who had the 'honour' of being redressed more than twice, being brought outdoors and endlessly combed. Since 2017, when her new life as a rerooted Day Tripper Poppy started, her freckled face and red and luscious hair never failed to bring me comfort and a smile, even in tumoultous times.

Favourite Picture: George and Myrtle at the Jupiter's Bar.

George and Myrtle's relationship is quite the complicated one, but I won't discuss the whys and the hows here. After all, this is just a small place to showcase some pretty doll pics!

However, I was particularly happy to have been able to portray their troubled but intense connection in this little photoshoot set at the Jupiter's Bar, a quite important place in my Dollyverse, where Judith (Wild At Heart Lilith) works as a waitress and where many events took place for many of my dolls.

Will this romance fully take off in 2023?

I have no idea, but dolly-dreams don't cost a thing :)

Favourite Photoshoot: Elodie at my town's Harbour

Back in September, Elodie (Go Home Rayna) took an exciting trip by the sea with me, my younger cousin and her camera.

I am aware this Rayna is a very beloved doll in the community, as well as a very rare and precious one, so I solemny swear I have been nothing but careful and caring with her and she didn't risk her dolly life among the waves 😁

Favourite Casual Shot: Cozy Savannah

Savannah (Beach Babe Poppy) is the latest addiction to my Integrity family. Compared to the majority of my dolls, she has been an impulse buy. She still doesn't have a fully formed character/a story to tell, but I am sure she will reveal herself sometime soon as she is already becoming one of my most beloved photography subjects.

She feels just so effortless in any picture, especially the more casual and not planned shots like this one.

Favourite Photo-Edited Shot: Jewel the Anti-Hero

It's me, hi, I am a Taylor Swift lookalike, It's me!

This picture was fun to make. I tried to replicate a frame of Taylor Swift's Anti-Hero video and I think I did fine.

It's far from perfect, of course, but I had fun and that's the only thing that should count.

Jewel (Simply Simpatico Poppy) had been a Swiftie for longer than me, so she was particularly happy to engage in this photo replica.

And...that's a wrap!

I hope you had a fun dolly 2022 and I wish your 2023 will be even better!

Happy New Year to whoever stops by!

BEAUTIFUL EXPOSURE

The flash didn't fire but I like this much better than when it did. =) Insignificant to most, but I love the eyelashes the most.

Today's story and sketch "by me" is another very busy morning at the Man Cave, I just received an emergency missing persons call from the Planet Tinkadink, a tiny insignificant Planet in the Gleason Star cluster, it's most famous inhabitant Sir Reggie, inventor of the very popular Dinky Flip Flop footwear, the only flip flops in the Galaxy with seventeen hidden foldout survival tool's, and the special Dinky Man Cave Flip Flops with built-in two shot Laser Stunner, sold only at the Man Caves Gift Shop For the Man or Woman, or any other sentient beings over the age of Eleven. Sir Reggie's wife was concerned Sir Reggie had gone to a luncheon meeting at the "FTSATEOTG" Fish Taco Shop At The End Of The Galaxy, three days ago and hadn't returned, I first calmed Mrs Reggie, asked her if Sir Reggie liked Adult Beverages, when she answered he enjoyed a good Margarita, I told her Sir Reggie was fine and was probably safely asleep somewhere, if he had ordered the Taco Shops famous Sixty Ounce Flaming Volcano Margarita. And as you can see Cosmo has tracked Sir Reggie's glider here on the beach in Port Hueneme California. Cosmo will revive him using the Man Cave exclusive "MVRK" Margarita Victims Recovery Kit, which are Also available in the Man Caves Gift Shop. Until next time taa ta the Rod Blog.

One can feel so insignificant in the expanse of the plains.

Common woolybush flower and nectaries

A large shrub growing to 4m tall with small insignificant flowers.

Occasionally it produces a nectary on the end of its leaves. The nectaries attract insects to feed on the nectar and spread seed.

Many Adenanthos species flower on and off throughout the year, with peak flowering during spring. Flowers are bird or insect pollinated with honeyeaters and bees feeding on nectar. Extra-floral nectaries on the tips of leaves attract ants and it is thought that fruits have elaiosome bodies that are ant-attracting.

Something about this image invokes in me feelings of my own great insignificance in the face of Nature; whose cogs turn in such unseen yet inevitable manner in its mammoth plan for things beyond human comprehension.

Shivling is a mountain at tapovan in the Gangotri Group of peaks in the western Garhwal Himalaya, near the snout of the Gangotri Glacier. It lies in the northern Indian state of Uttarakhand, 6 kilometres (4 mi) south of the Hindu holy site of Gaumukh (the source of the Bhagirathi River). Its name refers to its status as a sacred symbol of the God - Lord Shiva's Shiva Linga. It is called "Indian Matterhorn" because of its striking similarity to the peak Matterhorn of the Alpines in Europe !!

The altitude is 21329 feet.

Standing there I felt how small and insignificant I was before that majestic peak !!

Lo! See the blinding hot passing Sun

Go! Seize seconds, each passing Day

Do! Act on what is right and Good

NO! So soon? Sleep. Forever Night.

Captivating early Spring Sunset, nearly one year ago, at Smith Point Bridge, Shirley, Long Island, New York. Captured into memory with memories of driving here in 1996 with my father, whose prayer service and and both my parents' graves I had recently returned from in Lahore, Pakistan.

The Sun and it's daily ritual of rising and falling signify the circle of life, except, we only get one cycle on our circle of life, fading into the night of our life one time, forever and ever.

It is in that one cycle where our lives, a micro-miniscule fragment of the universe, give us the opportunity to achieve greatness brighter than the worshipped Sun's hot bright waves reflecting on the ocean's waves, and leave our own ripples, which last and spread, through the space-time continuum and human history, long after we wave good bye to the day, to life.
