I snapped this quick shot of the clouds one morning loving how the early morning light illuminated them, then noticed the teeny tiny plane. It does make you think about how small a part humans play in the bigger picture.

One of the many reasons I love macro and close up photography, is that you can find subjects virtually anywhere. What looks insignificant from a standing viewpoint, can look beautiful and interesting when viewed closely. Open your eyes and SEE.
I appreciate all comments, faves, and follows.

I have never seen the River Sligachan in such a swollen state as on this particular occasion.
Fabulous to watch but quite intimidating to be stood so close ... makes you appreciate how insignificant you actually are compared with nature.

My pain is insignificant compared to the thousands of deaths.
My pain has no meaning in the midst of endless losses.
But it is like a pebble from the road,
Once it hits my shoe...
It's impossible to move on lightly.
Friends, I am now outside my country. This is not a journey at all. I don't know how long it will last.
Thank you all, take care!
Whenever i turn my head up to the vast sky, especially at night, i am flooded with feelings of being unworthy somehow and i am reminded of my own insignificance.
I love it.
This is an old photo taken before my DSLR days. My post processing skills have come on a bit since then so I think I've finally done the scene justice.
Praise and Worship Almighty God | King of Kings | Gospel Music "Gospel Choir 15th Performance"
This time, God comes to do work not in a spiritual body but in a very ordinary one. Not only is it the body of God’s second incarnation, but also the body in which God returns. It is very ordinary flesh. In Him, you cannot see anything that is different from others, but you can receive from Him the truths you have never heard before. This insignificant flesh is the embodiment of all the words of truth from God, that which undertakes God’s work in the last days, and an expression of the whole of God’s disposition for man to come to know. Did you not desire greatly to see the God in heaven? Did you not desire greatly to understand the God in heaven? Did you not desire greatly to see the destination of mankind? He will tell you all these secrets that no one can ever tell you, and He will even tell you of the truths that you do not understand. He is your gate into the kingdom, and your guide into the new age. He is your gate into the kingdom, and your guide into the new age.
Every Nation Worships the Practical God
1. This time, God comes to do work not in a spiritual body but in a very ordinary, very ordinary one. Not only is it the body of God’s second incarnation, but also the body in which God returns. It is very ordinary flesh. In Him, you cannot see anything that is different from others, but you can receive from Him the truths you have never heard before, receive from Him the truths you have never heard before. This insignificant flesh is the embodiment of all the words of truth from God, that which undertakes God's Work in the last days, and an expression of the whole of God’s disposition for man to come to know. Did you not desire greatly to see the God in heaven? Did you not desire greatly to understand the God in heaven? Did you not desire greatly to see the destination of mankind? He will tell you all these secrets that no one can ever tell you, and He will even tell you of, tell you of the truths that you do not understand. He is your gate into the kingdom, and your guide into the new age.
2. Such an ordinary flesh holds many unfathomable mysteries. His deeds may be inscrutable to you, may be inscrutable to you, but the goals of the work He does are sufficient for you to see that He is not, is not a simple flesh as man believes, as man believes. For He represents the will of God as well as the care shown by God toward mankind in the last days. For He represents the will of God as well as the care shown by God toward mankind in the last days. Though you cannot hear the words He speaks that seemingly shake the heavens and earth or see His eyes like blazing flames, and though you cannot feel the discipline of His iron rod, you can hear from His words the fury of God and know that God shows compassion for mankind; you can see the righteous disposition of God and His wisdom, and moreover, realize the concern and care that God has for all mankind.
3. The work of God in the last days is to allow man to see the God in heaven, see the God in heaven live among men on earth, and to enable man to come to know, obey, revere, and love God. This is why He has returned to flesh for a second time. Though what man sees this day is a God that is the same as man, a God with a nose and two eyes: an unremarkable God, in the end God will show you that without the existence of this man, the heaven and earth will undergo a tremendous change; the heaven will grow dim, the earth will become chaos, and all mankind will live in famine and plagues. He will show you that without the salvation, salvation of God incarnate in the last days, then God would have long ago destroyed all mankind, destroyed all mankind in hell; without the existence of this flesh, then you would forever be chief of sinners and corpses evermore.
4. You should know that without the existence of this flesh, all mankind would face an inevitable calamity and find it difficult to escape, escape God’s more severe punishment of mankind in the last days. Without the birth of this ordinary flesh, you would all be in a state where neither life nor death will come no matter how you seek it; without the existence of this flesh, then this day you would not be able to receive the truth and come before the throne of God. Rather, you would be punished by God because of, because of your grievous sins. Rather, you would be punished by God because of your grievous sins. Do you know? If not for the return of God to the flesh, none would have a chance at salvation; and if not for the coming of this flesh, God would have long ago ended the age of old. As such, can you still reject the second incarnation of God? Since you can so greatly profit from this ordinary man, then why would you not accept Him readily?
5. In the end every nation shall worship this ordinary man, as well as give thanks to and obey this insignificant man, obey this insignificant man. In the end every nation shall worship this ordinary man, as well as give thanks to and obey this insignificant man, obey this insignificant man. Because it is He who has brought the truth, the life, and the way to save all mankind, save all mankind, ease the conflict between God and man, bring God and man closer together, and communicate thoughts between God and man, between God and man. It is also He who has brought even greater glory to God. Is not an ordinary man such as this worthy of your trust and adoration? Is such an ordinary flesh not fit to be called Christ? Can such an ordinary man not be the expression of God among men? Is not such a man who helps mankind be spared disaster worthy of your love and for you to hold? In the end every nation shall worship this ordinary man, as well as give thanks to and obey this insignificant man, obey this insignificant man. In the end every nation shall worship this ordinary man, as well as give thanks to and obey this insignificant man, obey this insignificant man, obey this insignificant man.

This all looks incredibly small and insignificant as it sits in the middle of the field. But this is exactly what I find so appealing when creating the scenes. And the final images never cease to amaze me when the completed photos are downloaded.

True happiness....I call it the joy of being...is found in simple, seemingly unremarkable
things. Most people, in their restless search for something significant to happen to
them, continuously miss the insignificant, which may not be insignificant at all.

When I shot this I was actually shooting a large Vista, with a Loch and mountains in the background. This insignificant wee tree in the foreground really drew my attention looking like cracks in the sky. I love the way the light hits the branches and really makes them pop.
'Really makes you feel insignificant; these mountain ranges. These vast, towering mounds left me in awe of nature.
I'm so used to the small, rolling hills of the south of England, used to the small towns and slow life... it was a big difference being in Austria. I wish I lived in a place like this.
On the flipside, I'd love to live in a place like Hong Kong... neon lights and skyscrapers. Kind of the opposite.
aka the Dot ladybird - Stethorus pusillus!
I found one last weekend, which whilst I'm sure was this species, the photos I got weren't good enough to confirm, and a huge gust of wind blew it away before I could do better! So, I was thrilled to find another yesterday, though this time it was overcast...!! After taking photos in a container for ID purposes, I popped him on an ivy leaf to get some natural shots, and a raindrop ran across the leaf, leaving a trail of water. He walked up to it and proceeded to drink! So cute!! Perhaps it'll be sunny when I find my next one?!?!

“The more you try to avoid suffering, the more you suffer, because smaller and more insignificant things begin to torture you, in proportion to your fear of being hurt. The one who does most to avoid suffering is, in the end, the one who suffers most.”
― Thomas Merton, The Seven Storey Mountain
This image exemplifies the state of total relaxation and delight you experience when you get to express this important facet of your persona, in public. Every insignificant stimulus gets enhanced dramatically and you wish you could capture each sensation in a bottle to experience it on demand and never forget about it! For girls like me, who no longer get to do this often, it is important to savor every step you take and just enjoy yourself while acknowledging the presence of observers around you but minding your own business.
The ultimate goal since we start crossdressing somehow seriously is to be “the girl” out there in the real world, no longer confined to the safety of our private sanctuary. Who can forget those first outings with our hearts pounding so hard that we could actually see our chest moving? The realization of the chances we were taking and the implications of being discovered could not stop us as we walked out the door. Once out, we would be too self-conscious focusing more on what other people might think, while nervously looking around us, instead of enjoying ourselves.
Times have changed since my first very daring outings, in my hometown, back in the late 70’s and my more frequent outings in the late 80’s, while attending graduate school in a foreign country. Today people are more aware of us and have become better informed and more accepting. I remember how talk shows would present us as freaks of nature instead of trying to educate people about why we were different. There is no way that I would initiate conversation with a stranger back in those days and would only provide short answers to questions. I would try to go out with a female friend so that she could interact for me. Now, people show interest in learning more about us and want us to be happy. Instead of being shy and ashamed, I approach people with confidence, never trying to hide who and what I am. Yes, you could argue that my outings do not take place where I could be recognized but that is secondary to being able to be “the girl” out there. I need to do it so I find ways to do it where I can be safe mostly for my family’s sake than my own.
Regardless of how novice or experienced you are going out as a girl; the experience is fantastic, and it only gets better as you become more relaxed. The stomach butterflies and pounding heart give way to a more enjoyable and rewarding experience as you begin to focus in how you feel and not what others think about you. I am not trying to say that it is easy for someone who has not done it before, but I know that we all have it as a goal and we should try to pursue it. However, it is important that we have developed a feminine image with which we feel comfortable because if we do not feel confident, people will be able to detect that and we will easily stand out; not as a man in a dress but as a very nervous and insecure person out there and one thing will lead to the other.
If you are not confident in your feminine presentation, I suggest you attend a conference. Conferences provide a safe environment and you will be able to attend seminars and have access to vendors who provide all kind of services to tend our needs. You will also be able to get tips from other girls there and it will be the perfect confidence booster.
This particular photo is from a series that Kim McCallum and I took during an afternoon tour of The Mall in DC. The first two days in DC I had been feeling a bit under pressure for things that are not relevant to this story. Let’s just say that I needed a breather despite spending the day before at the most amazing place thanks to my dear friend Nora Simone, who has been successful in redefining wealth in terms of what you are able to give to others. Nora noticed how I was feeling and asked Kim and I to join her and Cassandra Storm for a photoshoot they had planned at the spiral stairs in the Supreme Court Building.
As it turned out, there was no public access to the stairs and Nora, she would say that spontaneously, but I would say knowingly, suggested that Kim and I stayed in The Mall and walk around as every other tourist. As is usually the case, when I come to meet with friends, I do not plan of visiting touristic attractions because I come to spend time with them. I had not planned to tour The Mall but, thanks to Nora, there I was, with Kim, walking around the magnificent buildings and landscape interacting with tourists and taking lots of photos. Kim was the perfect companion and we had the best of times! I could not have been more relaxed and enjoying my visit while forgetting about the issues that were bothering me.
I want to publicly thank Nora Simone for being such an inspiration regarding how to fully enjoy myself as Cristy. Those of you who have met her and have been touched by her magic, know what I am talking about.
I will finally talk about what the photo represents to me. We did not visit all the buildings and monuments around The Mall and our tour concluded at the Canadian Embassy; a building that has some very interesting features. One of such features are two traditional Adirondack Chairs, in red, placed under an outdoors dome surrounded by columns. The afternoon sun was casting shadows through the dome and a gentle breeze would bring comfort. It was then that I decided to sit on one of the chairs and it was then that I realized how fantastic that afternoon had been. I was on Cloud Nine!
I invite you to do your best to visit Cloud Nine if you have not done it yet. I had been there many times before but I had never enjoyed the feeling in all its magnitude!

I was lucky enough to be in Kiama NSW Australia when an east coast low whipped the ocean into a frenzy. Bombo is a favoured haunt for many, beach goers, surfers, photographers and travellers alike. This is the view from the car park across to the famous Kiama blow hole, however the Quarry was my destination. The wind was astounding. To stand still in one spot was impossible the wind just pushed you along. I was ever mindful of staying away from the cliff edges as the gusts could make things quite precarious. Some favoured photography locations were out of bounds due to the size of the waves and water collecting in the quarry. Sunday morning saw my husband and I walk to Bombo Headland via the famous Bone Yard. The view from the northern end of Bombo was outstanding and the waves crashing against the headland were awe inspiring. This wave just one of many that appeared to make the Quarry an insignificant speck along the coast.
When I took this picture at 4am, other than being afraid of getting attacked by wild animals, this was what's on my mind:
(Psalms 19 from the Bible)
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
Yet their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
It's unfortunate that it takes several hours of flight to find a patch of sky dark enough to see the stars clearly. But when you do see the Milky Way, it's hard to deny the existence of a creator and the work of His hand.
We did pass by Las Vegas and saw the grandiosity of the structures. Yet none of those impressed us very much, as they dimmed in comparison to the glory in the skies. When I looked above, it reminded me of how small and insignificant we actually are. All our ambitions or worries are nothingness when put into proper perspectives.
In a previous post, I lamented over the fact that DLR locals have made it difficult to photograph Mermaid Lagoon because anything that doesn't have multiple subs and monorails now seems insignificant (ironically, I subsequently discovered that, by pure luck, I had taken no less than 3 other shots with at least one monorail and sub in them!). Despite being a "failure" by that standard, I absolutely love this shot--far more than any of the shots I took with both a monorail and a sub both in the frame.
I am no James Hilger, and as such, I normally can't successfully shoot into the sun and softly blow it. Normally, if I don't burst it, the sun looks atrocious in my frames, with banding and unattractive whiteness throughout the sky. Yet, I think I managed to "Hilgerize" it (that's a new hip phrase--pass it on) here, containing the blown sun to a small area of the sky with no banding and even with some vaguely noticeable rays of light permeating through the frame. The blown sun doesn't mean that there aren't any sunbursts in this shot. Check out the sun hitting the water; there are hundreds of little bursts there! It would have been nice to have some puffy clouds here against the blue sky, but I almost think this sky works better. While I think the sun adds a lot to this shot, by far my favorite aspect of the shot is the veritable rainbow of color in the water itself. I have no clue how much Disney chemically treats this water, but it's probably a good thing living mermaids (imported from Tortuga, I suppose?) no longer swim this lagoon. Anyway, enough of my shameless gushing over how much I love this shot...
****GIVEAWAY****
I've spent the last few hours this morning working on a new project: DLR Pics, which is an Disneyland wallpaper photo app for the iPhone, iPad, iTouch, and Android devices. It currently features photos of mine and of Matt Pasant's. We're constantly adding photos to the app, so I encourage you to check it out. In "honor" of my early Sunday morning workday, I'm giving away two copies of the app to two random individuals who comment on this photo. (In the comment, please reference the app so I know whether you'd like to be included in the drawing. I will accept entries through 12 noon Eastern 6/21/11.)

Acts 2:42 (ESV)
The Fellowship of the Believers
42 And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Fellowship.
The essence of the Christian life—fellowship with God and fellowship with other believers in Christ.
In the beginning, Adam was placed in the garden to enjoy friendship and communion with God. When the creature chose to assert his own autonomy rather than live under the Creator’s gracious care, fellowship was broken. Hence Adam and Eve hid themselves from the Lord’s presence (Gn 3:8). Yet God immediately sought them out (v 9) and revealed his plan for the ultimate restoration of sinners through the work of the Redeemer (v 15).
The OT tells how God began to draw a special people into fellowship with himself. Enoch is described as a man who walked with God (Gn 5:22, 24). Noah, likewise, walked in communion with the Lord (6:9). And Abraham, the father of Israel, is called “the friend of God” (Jas 2:23). No OT saint had deeper fellowship with God than did Moses during his 40-day encounter with the Lord on Mt Sinai (Ex 24). Later in Israel’s history David wrote psalms that reflect a heart vitally in tune with the living God (Pss 16, 34, 40, 63)
As a result of Christ’s finished work on the cross, God now makes his permanent abode in the believer’s heart (Jn 14:23). Hence the fellowship which now prevails under the new covenant is nothing less than the vital, spiritual union of the believer with Christ (Jn 14:20, 21). Fellowship with God is the goal of the Christian life (1 Jn 1:3), and this relationship will be perfected forever when we see our Savior “face to face” (1 Cor 13:12), when God dwells with his people in the heavenly kingdom (Rv 21:3).
The gospel restores fellowship not only with God, but among believers as well. Jesus’ last supper with his disciples illustrates the relationship between the vertical and horizontal dimensions of fellowship (Mk 14:22–25). In the upper room Jesus shared with his disciples a sacred love feast. The hearts of the Lord and his followers were knit together by a deep sense of love and commitment. Later the disciples discovered that their own hearts were strongly united out of their common loyalty to Jesus. Following the cross and the outpouring of the Spirit the church was born, that new society of people in fellowship with God and with one another.
The depth of comraderie among the first Christians is portrayed in the early chapters of Acts. Daily the believers met together in house groups for teaching, fellowship, the Lord’s Supper, and prayer (Acts 2:42, 46). So profound was their sense of togetherness that the Christians pooled their possessions and distributed them to brethren in need (vv 44, 45; 4:32–35). Perhaps the dominant characteristic of this early Christian fellowship was “love of the brethren” (1 Thes 4:9; 1 Pt 1:22). Constrained by love, Paul organized among the gentile churches a collection for poor believers in Jerusalem. In Romans 15:26, which speaks of the gifts of the churches in Macedonia and Achaia, the word translated “contribution” is the common Greek word for “fellowship.” Similarly, the fellowship which the Philippian church shared with Paul assumed the form of gifts to support the apostle’s ministry (Phil 1:5; 4:14, 15).
Scripture uses several images to describe the spirit of togetherness which characterized the early church. The first is “the household of God” (Eph 2:19; 1 Tm 3:15), or “the household of faith” (Gal 6:10). In God’s household, love and hospitality are to be the rule (Heb 13:1, 2). Further, the church is depicted as the family of God on earth (Eph 3:15). God is the Father and believers are his faithful sons and daughters. The life of God’s family is to be governed by love, tenderness, compassion, and humility (Phil 2:1–4). Finally, the Christian fellowship is represented as the “one new man” or the “one body” (Eph 2:15, 16). In spite of great natural diversity, the Holy Spirit binds believers together into a single organism (4:4–6). In this fellowship of love, no believer is insignificant. Each member has been endowed with gifts for the spiritual edification of the entire body.
Scripture lays down the basis of fellowship in 1 John 1:7: “If we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another.” Jesus Christ, then, is the source and fount of all spiritual communion. Only when rightly related to the Lord do we experience true fellowship with another Christian. Just as light and darkness are incompatible, so a believer can have no real fellowship with an unbeliever. Neither can the Christian be in fellowship with one who walks contrary to the teaching of Christ (2 Jn 9–11), or a professing brother who is immoral, idolatrous, a drunkard, or a thief (1 Cor 5:11).
Scripture lays down several guidelines for enhancing the communion of believers in the body. (1) Love one another with the same compassion that Christ displayed to his own (Jn 13:34, 35; 15:12). The law of the fellowship should be the rule of love (Heb 13:1). (2) Cultivate that spirit of humility that seeks the other person’s honor (Phil 2:3–5). (3) Lighten fellow believers’ load by bearing one another’s burdens (Gal 6:2). (4) Share material blessings with brothers and sisters in need (2 Cor 9:13). (5) Tenderly correct a sinner while helping to find solutions to the problems (Gal 6:1). (6) Succor a fellow believer in times of suffering (1 Cor 12:26). And (7) Pray for one another in the Spirit without ceasing (Eph 6:18).
The Christian will want to seriously regard the saying of an anonymous saint, “You cannot draw nigh to God if you are at a distance from your brother.”

Ever have a moment where you suddenly feel so incomprehensibly insignificant, yet so completely connected to everything? I walk these trails and time stands still. The wind whispers through the deepest recesses of my mind carrying me across the space-time continuum. In that one moment I can see every moment that ever existed or ever will exist. I am in one time and all time. One place and all places. Everywhere and nowhere. So hard to describe the feeling. It is wonderful. The magic of nature.
