Cicko's first year on Earth, after being left stranded inside the shoebox near our house, approximately 2 days after being given birth.

It seems he is enjoying his first days of his life, which he really do. Even though he doesn't know where his mother is, or can't comprehend what the presence of mother brings, nor does he resent or blame anyone responsible for his shoebox thing, he is still happy little boy.

These were insightful times, watching him grow and learn about life, without someone to learn from, except couple of human beings, different from his kind.

His instincts, and how God have created him, were always on spot. No problems there: catching what cat is supposed to catch, running, playing, games, toys, friskiness, naughtiness, restlessness...

The only problem I am seeing is with the relationship with other cats, that come to our house from time to time. Cicko does not know how to handle that yet. He haven't had the chance to learn from anyone, and in the pressence of them, he does know how to make a stand... Usually, he rather leaves, or give his best sleeping spots to the temporary newcomers of his kind.

Also, when other cats are present, he is having a problem with eating... He needs peace to eat. He is constantly looking around while other csts are in viscinity... seems like he can't put his guard down.

He is almost one year old by now, and we are looking forward on his progress.

Not to mention all the medical trouble we had with him. On this particular day when this photo was taken, on this same spot, he was throwing up, at least 6-7 times, and his belly was inflated, his eyes like he's dying, face sad, and he was constantly finding place to hide, to sleep...like he was finding place to sleep forever. Eyes were telling us everything.

But tjen the sun came onto his life, amd we couldn't believe what a shift in the mood occured. My God, he became the happiest little lad in the timespace of half a day.

Happy birthday, Cicko.

Daughter of Sarada Uchiha (9th hogake) and Boruto Uzumaki, Izumi may be the 11th hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. She has the fire willpower of the Senjuo's, sharingan perfect of the Uchiha's (just like her great-uncle Itachi), in her veins has the byakugan of the Hyuga's and the super regeneration and agitation of the Uzumaki's. And can still receive Kurama ...

Withe typical Uzumaki's red hair and the Uchiha's sharingan (and cute glasses as your mother), Izumi will always be a strong opponent, quick, unpredictable and insightful.

Was she a strong character, was not she? Who could be your opponent?

Over the past decade one of the common advices given to aspiring photographers is to explore various of photographic themes from which they may start developing their own style. Style, so I believe, is first and foremost the reflection of the photographer’s own personality combined with his/her favored theme/subject and her preferred technique(s) of execution. It’s good advise even though slightly inadequate.

I have realized this couple of months ago when my work was criticized as “mirroring the reality”. Indeed, simply just. Behind the bland words and the euphemistic praises the critique is not very pleasant to read, however it was probably one of the most insightful critique I ever received. It hallowed me to deepen the engagement with my subjects, not in order to capture photographs but to make pictures and even tableaux.

So let’s start with a ‘blank sheet’

Peace!

So very pleased that the Peace Project won 3rd place at the Lemont Gala for the Arts this past Saturday night.

It was a wonderful night. I had an insightful conversation with one of the jurors who provided a good critique of my work overall. I also may have a chance at securing a commission from a person that attended the show.

I'm not sure what style of the Peace Project or the Chicagoan Loop pieces are actually called. Collage? Montage? Mosaic? Any idea?

Much peace, love and happiness to you.

Read an insightful article this morning discussing the extreme polarization of political beliefs. So-called identity politics has largely replaced results-based support for politicians. So long as your candidate agrees with your line of thinking, it matters less and less how they actually perform. Unfortunately this thinking is a poor way govern. It's manifested in congress where entrenched thinking results in continual stalemates. Compromise is equated with acquiescence and makes legislation near impossible. There's an almost universal frustration with the whole process, but no end in sight. The impending election offers no real hope. No matter the outcome, the battle lines have been firmly drawn. The opposition to whichever candidate or party comes out on top will only intensify.

This scene presented me with a dramatic metaphor for the current state of politics. Looking through the myriad of criss-crossing fence lines as the last glimmer of daylight being squeezed out of existence by the encroaching darkness. And that narrow gap in the fence representing the ever-diminishing hope to escape destiny.

Hosea 14:9 “Let whoever is wise understand these things, and whoever is insightful recognize them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.”

To feel, to absorb

echoed

reciprocated in unison

while..Emotions Ebb & Flow

Feelings Recess,..Then grow

finally seeking a release

Leaving evidence of what simmers

To the sensitive it gives an insightful glimmer

of how much joy or sorrow is contained in YOU,

will also be in Me

"Where's the fun in that, you grump?" asked the insightful Mr. Ted from Kentucky, an amazing talking horse who was a descendant of the brilliant Mr. Ed of Hollywood fame.

"Wrentits form tight monogamous pair bonds, which are normally lifelong. Both sexes defend the territory throughout the year with distinctive songs that have been aptly called "the voice of the chaparral." The male habitually shares in incubation and is normally in vocal contact at all times with the female, and the pair is even known to roost together, forming contiguous "feather-balls," and to mutually preen. The young commonly remain in family flocks for at least 30 days after fledging and, on occasion, use their natal territory for breeding.

With few exceptions, most of our current knowledge on the behavior, life history, breeding ecology, and demography of the Wrentit has come from two studies, both in the San Francisco Bay region of California. Most information on life-history originated from Mary M. Erickson, under the guidance of Professor Joseph Grinnell, in an intensive 4-year study in a chaparral canyon in Berkeley, California (Erickson 1938). Her insightful and highly detailed study (summarized in a 332-page monograph), followed, year-round, the life history of 21 territorial pairs and individuals. "

I had been looking on auction sites for a 5.08 cm (2 inches) tall kimmidoll for a while. I found six being auctioned as a set on Ebay recently. All in great condition and they cost me less than $10 for all six. Unlikely I'll look for anymore because these six will more than serve my purpose. Of course that may change if I found more at the same or less price.

I recently made the difficult decision to switch to a new camera. The move was tough for me because I have a fierce aversion to change of any kind. I read every review I could find, and received a lot of really great, thoughtful and insightful advice. So when the shiny box showed up on my doorstep this week I rushed right out to shoot my fun & familiar spot. Of course, I've known all along that a great landscape image has very little to do with the specs of any camera, or even the finger on the button, and everything to do with the wild, joyful, natural, rugged, lonesome beauty of our shared lands.

Well, it has certainly been one of the most unusual years on record, but still brings me to become a pensioner. Don't worry though, I still toss in the trash everything AARP sends me. Many thanks to all my flickr friends for so many insightful comments, kind words, humorous exchanges and sharing of the love of photography over the years. I appreciate you all very much.

I must admit that I struggled immensely with knowing I could not

have free range to edit my capture to my hearts' delight.

The challenge was awesome and insightful.

I was really appreciative of Kogonada making such a great film in Columbus...a slightly understated philosophical exploring the roles architecture and interpersonal relationships play in our lives. It reminded me slightly at times of Jim Jarmusch's Paterson, another film this year I really loved.

Kogonada answered questions after the film and was both intelligent and modest, a really insightful and beautiful human being.

The film stars John Cho, Parker Posey, and Haley Lu Richardson.

It could, I guess, be called a counterfactual. I can't really imagine that I would like to be 'out of the swing of the sea', as a favorite poet of mine sings. In fact, one of the things I aesthetically don't appreciate about the Apocalypse is the statement that there will in Future Paradise no longer be a sea. Anyway... I don't want now to argue with the theologians, ;-).

Here I was high up in the Hound's Snout Barrico with my back to the Sublime Sea (see inset).

Scrounging around in all its dryness I saw on a flowering shrub of Tenerife Stinkweed this moveable Plasterer Bee which I took for 'dimidiatus'. But I stand corrected by insightful Bernhard Jacobi: 'moricei' (see his comment below). The specific stands for the fine English classical scholar Francis David Morice (1849-1926). He was an astute scholar of both Latin and Greek - among many works e.g. by Pindar and Thucydides, he rhythmically translated into English Vergil's Fourth Georgics on The Bee - but his great avocation was entomology. He traveled widely in the Mediterranean, Asia Minor and the Middle East in his quest for insects.

And aren't our Bee's eyes to die for!

Why are people so fascinated by the Catacombs?

Is it because, as Sartre said, "Hell is other people," and, at least in this case, none of these people are boring us any longer with predictable jokes when we're trying to read?

Is it because it provides for a fascinating adventure in macabre interior design?

Is it because existentialism is an insightful philosophy and by acknowledging the dead, we can try to find meaning in our own lives?

Is it because we are misanthropic and we want to grab hold of any opportunity to meet new people?

Is it because we like to imagine how each bone, including each skull, has different markings, holes, and indentations giving us clues how every person died a unique death? Therefore, even one's demise then and now seems less futile...

Is it because we like to imagine the lost and possibly new modern civilizations that are being created within those cavernous depths?

Is it because we think it would be a really great place to have a party?

Is it because there is this idea that for 200 years, a city's civilization could be built upon an underground lair, emerging from depth and death and could somehow create something different, memorable in a way that surpasses flesh and bones and that what we hope, what we secretly feel, is that we'll leave behind something great too, perhaps not tangible but insight into a world that has evolved and become better and that, when the last tourist has left the Catacombs because the simulacrum of the long dead human existence is crumbling, we'll realize that, just as the lives of those millions of Parisians ended, ours too shall come to pass and that this will be all right...

Immersed in the autumnal sunshine, I was enjoying a lakeside reading which effectively got my mind off the current COVID-19 reality. When I unplugged myself from the ridiculously insightful book, I noticed the unifying time with another reader – a kid was concentrating on his own world. I hope the intellectual journey he is taking on would help him identify and focus on what ultimately matters in his life.

I'm starting to fashion an idea in my head

where I would impress you

with every single word I said.

Would come out insightful, or brave, or smooth, or charming

and you'd want to call me..

And I would be there every time

you'd need me

I'd be there every time...

But for now I'll look so longingly

waiting...

For you to want me, for you TO need me, for you to notice me

After a long walk around rainy Frömitzspeicher without a good sight, I was close to calling it a day when a flock of long tailed tits started picking on the branches of a tree at the parking lot. Unexpectedly, I got really lucky with this curious fellow ! Long tailed tits are amongst my favorites, clearly close to maximum cuteness and fluffyness ... and look at the eyes ....

Noel's eight-year photographic journey begins in South Asia as a Peace Corps volunteer in 1967 growing rice in India and then in Nepal in 1969 trekking through the Himalayas to the base camp of Mount Everest. Then it moves to Southeast Asia. Arriving broke in Singapore in 1970 Noel found work as a navigator aboard a seismic vessel exploring in the Indian Ocean and the Bering Sea, then as the administrator of several geophysical land crews in Indonesia. He spent his off-time in Singapore where he met his future wife, Pauline, a Dutch national with the Netherlands embassy there. Noel and Pauline began a year of travel throughout Southeast Asia in 1974 with a three-month stay in Bali. Later travels included Indonesia (of course), Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Burma, all photographically documented with insightful commentary, before returning to the States via North Africa in 1975. The title of this set is the same as the title of one of my abstract paintings I produced about 28 years ago when I was somewhat landlocked in West Texas and the Beach was not a significant or regular part of my life. But the title was both insightful and prophetic, and now I'm happy to share with you some of my photographs of the days in my life...at the Beach.

Estancia Cristina (Patagonia) 20240208

Estancia Cristina is still as remote and wild a place today as it was for the Masters family, English immigrants who founded the Patagonia Estancia back in 1914 and lived there until 1997 when the last remaining family member passed away.

Estancia Cristina is only accessible via a 3 hour boat trip from El Calafate and sits smack in the middle of 3,000 square miles of rugged Patagonian wilderness that encompasses present day “Los Glaciares National Park”, Argentina’s largest. Of the half a million visitors who come to this immense National Park each year, full of jagged peaks cut by dozens of massive glaciers spilling from the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap into electric blue lakes, 99% only fly into the crowded tourist town of El Calafate just to make a day trip to the Perito Moreno Glacier. Here they elbow their way among the crowds to get that perfect picture, whereas an insightful few make the decision to come out to Estancia Cristina for a few days of wilderness bliss and have the Upsala glacier virtually to themselves.

My bike is not good for the earth because it creates noise and air pollution? Well, thank you for that compassionate and insightful observation and you be sure to look both ways before you Fuck Off.

Fifty plus years come and gone

Two thirds of life a memory holds

How quickly time eludes the grasp

How soon the journeys in the past

Yet with time a wisdom grows

Insightful to the last

A will that struggles to stay the course

Holding on to innocence

Pushing back against a hardened heart

Preferring happiness to sorrow

The past banished to the past

Finding the future in tomorrow’s dawn

Always Living in the now

Never harming along the way

No boundary holds the heart

Embracing love at every turn

Moving on beyond despair

Letting go of entangled ways

Hoping in some my memory stays

So much more to learn

But oh so fewer are the days

Terreno De Piel (Skin Terrain)

16 York Street

Terreno De Piel, or Skin Terrain, is a bold and insightful commission by Cadillac Fairview, created by Donna Huanca. Huanca’s practice draws particular attention to the skin as the complex interface through which we experience the world around us. Her ‘skin’ paintings – layered on magnified cross-sections of her models’ painted figures photographed during performance – refer directly to the people.

You'll never believe what just happened at Canadian Tire.

There I was, shopping for some sh*t tickets for the RV when a proper commotion erupted just in front of me.

Brawling on the floor amidst a pile of spilled $20 camp chairs were a pair of human beings fighting over the very last Hamilton Beach Convection Toaster.

''I was here first!'' yelled the blue-haired one on the left, ''No, I was here first!'' yelled the red-hatted one on the right, until a third voice chimed in.

''Can't we all just get along?'' said the employee while separating the two grapplers.

"I'm offended" complained a random onlooker.

''That's racist'' complained a gleeful spectator while pointing at a Black Friday promotional poster.

That's when the idea hit me. What if you could shop for your favorite things in a virtual store without the hassle of engaging with humans? And what if your favorite things happened to be highly insightful photography courses that teach you practical ways to make the best out of your photography?

And then I wondered, where could you find such a magical store? For the life of me, I couldn't figure out this puzzle until I remembered a line from an old movie ''If you build it, they will come''.

So that's exactly what I did.

I built it, and here it is. www.fototripper.com/store/category/online-photography-cou...

The Fototripper Black Friday Sale Ends on Sunday and I promise there won't be any fights in the aisles. You can enjoy 50% off any off my tutorials without having to fight through a scrummage over future landfill trinkets.

P.S. This never actually happened... well, not to me anyway, and probably not in a Canadian Tire store, but who is to say it didn't happen somewhere at some time?

Artist Richard Long describes this bold and insightful commission for Cadillac Fairview, called Four Strong Winds, as follows: “It’s an evocative and beautiful song sung by Neil Young, a great artist (and Canadian). It reminds me of the time hitching across the Prairies in 1974, going through places like Medicine Hat and Saskatoon. I did my walk in The High Plains in Saskatchewan.”

You can't imagine what it took me to try to make something that was different from an everyday object, flower, or fruit for this challenge. Finally, due to lack of time, I have fallen into the stereotype and recurring paper figures.

In this case, what I have done has been to make a family of foxes, the blue dad, the orange mom, and the little children. It has been complicated since they had to be small for what the macro challenge admits.

The total measurement of the photo is 7 cm wide by approximately 4 high.

I have always been fascinated by this animal. Where I usually live, near Madrid, we have many, because it is an area of many rabbits and they feed on them and field mice.

Fox in the land of my family, and in mine, Galicia, is not only an animal, it is also designated that way, cunning, intelligent and insightful people. In other areas of Spain, this word is used to refer disparagingly to women of "dubious reputation" or insult.

The famous leader of Nez Perce for whom the town of Joseph is named. His life is a tragic saga of misunderstandings and betrayal. It is ironic that the town is named after him when in 1900 he returned to beg for some land in the valley and he was turned away with jeers from the townspeople. He died of a broken heart in Nespelem, WA, far from the land he loved in 1904. Many insightful statements are attributed to him. Some are on the plaques below the statue created by sculptor Georgia Bunn.
