Smaller than Honeybees and they fly around similar to house flies. It is on a Grindelia flower.

There is a larva of some sort in the lower left.

Saw this land on my mother car window screen so thought I'd try to get a quick shot before I scared it away

A small cold hoverfly, spotted this hoverfly on my Euphorbia blossoms looking a bit miserable. Persuaded it to walk on to my finger to warm up a bit
