The sunset was beautiful tonight....and was what called me out with camera in hand...but this little insect love affair caught my eye! This is cropped in a bit, but I was really pleased with the results from a very hurried shot taken with the Olympus 12-40.
None of the flies (or other insects) in my photos are frozen or dead. None have been manually 'posed'. All are photographed alive and well in their natural environment, unless they are being killed or eaten by another insect in the photo.

Lucanus cervus.

Larch bench. p 2
In a serene garden where the air is filled with memories, a tanned grandfather was sitting on an old larch bench. With perfected movements, he planed another peg for the "sacred" tomato bushes.
Suddenly, a burst of laughter swept through the garden, the one-year-old grandson triumphantly hobbled towards him. Delight flashed in the child's eyes as he held a large black beetle in his tiny hands. With joyful innocence, the baby proudly uttered his first word "Beetle" in his life.
Grandfather's heart was filled with delight and tenderness, and he had no choice but to fix this beast with an old camera.
Tanned, young grandfather, oddly enough, it's me, the beetle is a female Lucanus cervus.
A photograph may not have artistic value, but the emotional coloring for the author sometimes has immeasurable emotional significance.
With this story, I tried to describe to you my feelings of that moment.
