Impressionen aus der Hotellobby des Holiday Inn Express Gütersloh (rechts im Bild Hoteldirektor Gerd Armbrust)
The former Thwaites Balaclava Inn is situated on the corner of Watford Street and Balaclava Street. The signage in the photo was replaced by the Thwaites red on white signage and the remains of one of these signs is still to be found on the side wall just above where the distinctive white Thwaites illuminated sign is situated on this photo from circa 1970.
There was a motorbike chained up high on a wall in one room although this is now long gone and the place has been serving fast food since about 1990. Unfortunately one cannot fail to notice the fact that the place is called Pizza Island due to the garish plastic signs that now ruin the appearance of the building.

Annapolis Royal is a cute town in Nova Scotia that was settled in 1605. Most of the buildings here are old and kept up because it has been designated a National Historic District of Canada. This beautiful building is The Queen Anne Inn.

On the first Monday after pubs were allowed to open again after the COVID-19 lockdown, I went for a couple of drinks at the Hop Inn, Swindon Old Town.
Several weeks ago, we received an invitation to a rather cool sounding special event: The "Art in the Age Craft Spirits Pairing Dinner presented by The Tamworth Lyceum", an evening of food paired with custom cocktails made by Warren Bobrow, "The Cocktail Whisperer".
The dinner was at the Corner House Inn in Center Sandwich, NH
