The Story Inn, near Nashville, Indiana, in beautiful Brown County. This charming inn has one of the state's best restaurants, and it purports to be haunted.

‘Horseshoe Inn’, The Homend, Ledbury. Tuesday 28 July 2015.

A large set of stone steps gives access to a long narrow interior with drinking areas front and rear. Many original features have survived a past refurbishment; a cosy feel and some charm adds to its character. There is a heated patio at the rear of the building. Live music on Friday evenings.

I went in this pub quite a few times with a friend 1974 – 1984 and I remember on one occasion visiting and there was a local man stood at the bar with a fox cub in his arms. Unfortunately I did not get the chance to revisit this pub on this occasion.

Painted Desert Inn @ Petrified Forest National Park, Arizona

First established as a tavern in 1722 by John Wells, the founder of New Hope, it became an inn five years later. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and is Bucks County's oldest continuously-operating inn.

I spent the night at a Quality Inn on the northern fringe of Lancaster, which I suspect was an old motel - the pink shower tile was a dead giveaway. Any guesses for age (hard to tell, since it had been well maintained). Oregon Pike, May 16, 2007

The George Inn, The Mall, Faversham, Kent, 1 March 2025. Early 18th Century, refronted mid/late 19th Century. Note Rigden's Ales sign, a rare survivor. Grade II listed.

Edward Rigden founded the brewery at Faversham in the early 18th Century. Rigden's merged wiyh the appropriatey named George Beer & Co. of Canterbury in 1922 to become George Beer and Rigden, all production then being concentrated in Faversham.

The company was taken over by Fremlins Brewery of Maidstone in 1948 and brewing at Faversham stopped in 1954 - only to restart in 1961! A rare occurance.

In 1968 the Whitbread Brewery took over Fremlins and closed the Maidstone Brewery in 1972. The Faversham Brewery, by then known the Whitbread Fremlins Brewery, survived until closure in 1990.

Brønderslev inn was abandoned and left to rot for decades... in the spring of 2010 it was demolished, and a new Fakta supermarket was build on the spot where it used to be located.

"On the top of the hill, on the road to capital of the country, there is located Inn under two golden swords. It was built by Arnam The Brave, who killed the Beast from the shadow forest (its head is on fireplace). King rewarded the courageous warrior. Arnam used this money to built an inn, which helped him live richly. Now his grandson is the owner..."

The Ebenezer Chapel was built in 1824 with alterations in 1856. It closed in 1895 but was refurbished and reopened in 1914. It closed again in 1920 and in 1995 it was demolished and offices built on the site. The burial ground remains as a small park area, retaining its graves. The gate and railings of the burial ground are Grade II Listed.
