#inktober2019 Day 24

Temperatures were well above freezing: another opportunity to draw from the car. This iron trestle crosses the Cedar River at Main Street. Once on the north side of the river, the tracks take a 40degree turn, so I was able to position myself looking up the tracks. I've drawn this bridge several times before, but never from this side of the river.

Today's topic is A Dessert. This is the most basic dessert there can be. Strawberries and Cream. What could be simpler or more delicious than end of season strawberries and a tub of non-dairy cream.

#inktober2019 Day 25

I'd mentioned to my husband about wanting to draw the moon from our bedroom window, early in the morning, before daybreak, when it hung in the eastern sky. He woke me up from a sound sleep. "This is it. You've got to draw it now.", he commanded. This is a drawing done when I was not fully awake.

To the town of Agua Fria rode a stranger one fine day...

Late afternoon at the Fisherman's Terminal. I'm attracted by the anchor and rough wood on the bow of the vessel in the foreground, then spot a fishing boat with my maternal grandmother's name, Alma, and decide this is what I must draw.

My Inktober 2019 asks for A Stone today. You can pick any stone you want from this dry stane dyke.

#inktober2019 Day 12

Last night's temperature dropped below freezing for the first time. Thus, todays farmer's markets--both in Cedar Falls and Waterloo--were flush with peppers: sweet, warm, hot, very hot, or very very hot. Starting at the top right: cheese pepper, poblano, yellow habanero, jalapeño, little Thai, cayenne, serrano, and another cayenne.

After the rain and a few colder nights, our zinnias start looking frail.

Today's topic for the final sketch in my Inktober 2019 list was An Umbrella. This is not just an umbrella, this is a dripping umbrella. Let's face it, those of us who live in Scotland get plenty of opportunity to sketch them, except today. Today was a bright, cold, sunny, DRY day. Typical!

One last word. Thank you all for embracing Inktober 2019 and making it your own. Some of you stuck closely to the 'Official' list. Some, like me, chose their own list. Some just drew. To everyone who contributed, I thank you. It was great fun. Let's do it again next year DV.

No snow around me, so I sketched from a photo of turkeys in the snow from last winter.

The prompt was mindless, but I feel my mind FULL ness. Too much on my to do list. I tried to be mindful of seeing the dark negative shapes.....

This is inspired by a second-hand book I found recently “Plains Indian drawings from 1865 to 1935”. During that period, native americans used old ledger books for their drawings. Previously they had drawn these historical records on animal skins on their teepees.

These are Empire apples that the Hoffman family grew. We purchased them at the last Cedar Falls farmers market on Saturday. Now that they've been drawn, I can make something yummy with them.
