I'm addicted to the deliciously spiced Mexican chocolate. Made with four ingredients: cocoa beans, cinnamon, almonds and cane sugar.

All of this ended up as part of xmas dinner

A couple of the Ingredients in Shizandra's food. We make it here at home and I not only put eggs and blueberries in it, but I also add 1 pound of sirloin hamburger and veggies too. All organic and healthy.

Approx 2lb icing sugar

1 pack gelatine or 2 sheets gelatine

1 1/2 tbsp glycerine

1/2 cup glucose or corn syrup

water

Step 2- Finish gathering ingredients ( at least the main ones!) NB, Once, half a lifetime ago, I was "famous" for my pastry but since my diagnosis of diabetes and the departure of DD to the faraway south and her subsequent marriage to a Darling American lad, I have often gotten lazy! This Thanksgiving is a case in point! The pastry shell you see here is a frozen, store bought one ( I cannot tell a lie!)

DONE. While outside my window planes roar overhead from the air show across the water at Paine Field, herds of bicyclists with numbers on their backs chug up my killer hill (having no idea that this part is JUST THE BEGINNING), the weeds in my "flower" beds get taller and taller, and boxes and tubs that need to get sorted and put away, don't. But I am lovin' the drawin'. Oh, and BTW, FYI, don't try to use the recipe to make the dish. Not enough information on amounts, etc. If you really want the recipe, just let me know . . . .

I found the "fresh ingredient" heaven... Unfortunately not exactly next door, but it's worth taking a trip for!!

Hazelnut Crunch Cake 08-14-13

For the Crunch:

Place the toasted nuts close together in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Combine the sugar and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir the sugar mixture until dissolved. Bring to a boil and let cook until the sugar is light brown, about 8 minutes. Let the bubbles subside then pour the caramelized sugar over the nuts. Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator and let the sugar nut mixture cool until hard, about 30 minutes. When the sugar nut mixture is hard and cool, top with another piece of parchment paper and pound into small pieces, or place the sugar nut mixture on a cutting board and cut into small pieces. Set aside.

For the filling:

Put the mascarpone cheese, cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla into a large mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer whip the cream mixture to soft peaks. Fold the Crunch mixture into the whipped cream.

For the topping:

Place the chocolate, sugar and zest in a food processor. Process the mixture until the chocolate is finely ground.

To assemble the cake:

Put 1 cake on a serving plate. Top with 1-inch of the whipped cream crunch mixture. Top with the second layer of cake and continue frosting the entire cake with the remaining whipped cream crunch mixture. Sprinkle the top and sides of the cake with the ground chocolate. Serve me FIRST. lol :P
