I don't drink a lot of tea but I love the accessories that are used for making it. Give me a shiny tea strainer or infuser any day! And the cups and saucers...don't get me started!

The blackthorn tree at the aback of the house is full to bursting with sloe berries. I'm not a lover of gin but i think you can infuse them with vodka also! Think i might have a go!!

So this version includes the essence of the teabag. #SmileonSaturday theme of #CoffeeorTea It smells delicious in here!

This is the "almost complete" construction (by our lab), that’s been going on for a few years now. The full glass facade makes it even more interesting at night with all the lights and entengaled reflections. Thank you for your visit 😊

UK-made gins are seeing a boom as distillery numbers jump

There are now 820 UK gin distilleries, up from 710 in 2020 and 190 in 2015, Office for National Statistics figures show.

You can even buy kits to make your own.

(The one I made tasted terrible - I think I need to pick your ingredients with more care, chilli may not have been the best choice).

The church of Pedralbes consists of a single nave, with seven sections of quadripartite vaults and a heptagonal apse.[11] Between the buttresses of the first three vaults (that is, between the door and the apse) there are chapels; the fourth section corresponds to the door, which opens onto Plaça del Monestir, and the last three to the choir, which in the fifth section has two floors (the low choir and the high choir), but which in the sixth and seventh only has the high floor, since the natural slope of the land means that these two sections of the high heart are built directly on the granitic rock.[11] Until the 19th century, the choir had been separated from the rest of the church by a wall that went up almost to the vaults, and which had a latticed window in the middle with a thick lattice through which the nuns could follow the 'office, but in 1894 the wall of the high choir was demolished and that of the low choir was doubled, in order to support the weight of the organ, which was installed approximately where the window had been .[11]

In addition to the high choir and the low choir, there is also the choir of the friars, located in the middle of the church and outside the scope of the cloister, and which, being low (1.3 m) does not break the spatial unity of the nave,[10] unlike what happens in other churches that have choirs with higher walls or pediments, such as the Barcelona cathedral.

The simplicity of the lines of the church, especially the octagonal bell tower, finished in a sharp edge, infuses a pronounced modernity into the building and caused the admiration of Le Corbusier in his visit in 1928; in a speech made then in the Saló de Cent of the City Hall, he said: "The Monastery of Pedralbes, what a modern simplicity! It is the best thing I have seen in your land for many years."

For this week’s Macro Mondays ‘Evolution’ theme, I have chosen to photograph loose-leaf tea and a tea bag.

As a kid, I was taught to make tea with loose-leaf ‘Typhoo Tea’. It had to be made in a pot, and ‘brewed’ or ‘infused’ for exactly four minutes! The tea-caddy spoon in the image is about 120 years old, and still used to this day!! I’ll not go in to the ‘milk in the cup first / tea then milk’ argument, but suffice to say, it’s different when you make tea in a cup with a tea bag! Tea is the panacea to life, and a staple drink of most (but not all) residents of the UK! I love tea, so it was a pretty simple choice for me :)

Simple set up: All natural light, with post processing in Photoshop and Lightroom CC.

Tea inside the ball, but it is all about the mesh ☺️

This half of Washington State came to a standstill when Mum Nature stopped by to remind us that it was still Winter so I spent some time in the backyard to watch the multitude of wildlife scramble for food. One such was this fellow, I'd not seen the like before and it was love at first sight. People more learned than I informed me that he's a Varied Thrush.

I wish that I knew how to put the original photo here without posting it because even with the 200mm he's a dot in the middle of white before this major crop. I'm astounded and extremely pleased at the result. Also I'd like to say that I used a preset on my camera that I set up for action months ago and for speeds sake it's set to shoot jpeg, again, I'm blown away by the results. :-)

Blow him up and check him out, he's a beauty.

Snake wine is an alcoholic beverage produced by infusing whole snakes in rice wine or grain alcohol. The drink was first recorded to have been consumed in China during the Western Zhou dynasty and considered an important curative and believed to reinvigorate a person according to Traditional Chinese medicine. It can be found in China, Goa (India), Vietnam, and throughout Southeast Asia.

The snakes, preferably venomous ones, are not usually preserved for their meat but to have their "essence" and snake venom dissolved in the liquor. The snake venom poses no threat to the drinker. It is denatured by the ethanol—its proteins are unfolded and therefore inactive and would be denatured by stomach acid anyway. [Wikipedia]

After a day filled with swims and laughter, she finally takes a moment of pure relaxation. Her feet sink into the warm sand, the air is infused with the sweet scent of the tropics, and distant music drifts through the evening breeze. The sun slowly sets, painting the sky with golden and amber hues. She takes one last sip of her cocktail, a smile on her lips. This fleeting moment, suspended between day and night, between dream and reality, reminds her why she loves this place so much… and why she’s not ready to leave just yet.

Only joking! But we are known as a nation of tea drinkers, and this is a small wire mesh tea infuser, for those of us purists who prefer loose leaf to tea-bags! I tried to find out if we are still a tea-drinking nation, but all the statistics on coffee drinking being on the rise refer to "outside the home". No surprise there, I guess, as US-style coffee-to-go chains are everywhere. But the tea leaf (or tea-bag) may still have pride of place in our homes ;o))

This tea infuser is a ball a little under 2" - opened out here to show not quite one half. A measure shot is in the first comment field. Shot in the sunshine on pebble glass.

Happy tea drinking Macro Monday ;o)
