This began as a shot in the Japanese Garden in Missouri Botanical Gardens. Applied a filter from Photoshop, cutout at 5,5,5. Border & vignetting from Picnik.

I feel this photograph is influenced by Stephanie Schneider the least, this is because it is quite bold and consists of darker, deeper colours. This is my favourite lomography composition which is made up of two photographs. First I took a picture of the bridge, then I wound the film forward just a little; I rotated the camera and took a photograph of the woods. I am fascinated by the way that even though both photographs have different main focuses, they are still linked by the use of deep colours and striped patterns. The bridge consists of striped patterns leading the viewers eye into the photograph, and the wood photograph embodies vertical stripes, across the photograph.

A visionary figure in the experimental tradition, Pauline Oliveros has influenced American music profoundly through her work with improvisation, meditation, electronic music, myth, and ritual. Tonight, Oliveros teams up with David Arner, a pianist and long time proponent of innovative music and spontaneous composition, Doug Van Nort, an experimental musician who creates immersive sonic experiences, and FILTER (Freely Improvising, Learning & Transforming Evolutionary Recombination system), a machine which reacts to its partners, transforming their sound in a musical dialogue. This set will feature each of the three possible human-machine duos, followed by the full quartet.

Prague Botanical Garden

The Garden invites its visitors to see and enjoy open air exhibitions, arranged as an impressive park, historical Vineyard of St. Claire, Japanese Garden, tropical greenhouse Fata Morgana together with numerous festive and educational events, targeting visitors of all walks of life. Also of importance, the natural surrounding is far away from the disturbing influence of the city.

The Garden is under continuous development, new expositions are emerging. This may be the reason of imaginary disconnection of the whole area of the Garden. So called "Southern Grounds" is especially worth of seeing because of its open space exhibition with Japanese garden and St. Claire´s Vineyard, "Northern Grounds" are inviting visitors to see another open space exhibition with Peony meadow and a collection of frost-hard cacti, nicknamed "Mexico".

As "Southern Grounds" we understand the exhibitions adjacent to Nádvorní Street together with the St. Claire´s Vineyard, dominated by a small chapel which is consecrated to this saint. Japanese Garden is considered to be the most attractive section of visitors of the Open Air Exhibitions. This part of the botanical garden is inviting to calm down and relax. Selection of plants and their placement has been adjusted to emphasize the grace of evergreen shrubs, conifers and deciduous trees; the changes of scenery during the turns of seasons are envisaged.

Japanese garden is divided into two subsections. The first one represents the "landscape with mountains, trees, stream and lake". The remaining part, rather a collection, offers an array of woody species, originating in Japan and China. Collection of Japanese maples and sugis (Cryptomerias) is a true rarity.

We're celebrating 50 years of graduate studies in ESL education (the MTESL/MTESOL program) at ASU!

In 1969, the ASU English department began offering a graduate program focusing on ESL education. That program continued successfully, and evolved into the current MTESOL program. 2019 is the 50th year of this program, and to celebrate this milestone, the English department is hosting a mini-conference on Friday Oct. 11, 2019.

The twenty-six structures comprising the Centreville Historic District focus on the 1902 Bibb County Courthouse (11) and Court Square and consist primarily of late-19th and ear1y-20th century commercial and governmental structures reflecting the character of a turn-of-the-century rural county seat.

When the 1828 Bibb County Commission considered the site for a permanent county seat, it selected the community of Centreville because of its location as the center of the county. The county's first court house had been built here on the west banks of the Cahaba River, but the site chosen for the third and permanent seat was the hill on the east bank. The higher ground would help alleviate the problem with malaria which had been so severe on the lower-lying west bank. Incorporated in 1832, the town of Centreville grew up around the new frame courthouse erected on the spacious square.

Bibb County Courthouse (Court Square): 1902; 2 stories with corner tower, brick, Victorian eclectic with strong Romanesque influence, stone lintels and sills, dentilled cornice and pediment, square-headed and arched windows, corner domes. (1)

After a couple cold days, humidity came clawing back like some wild creature. By the time I made it to the base of Little River Falls, I was drenched in sweat from skull to soles. I think of this place like the first stop in utter isolation. Not so far from the tri-town busyness of New Minas, Kentville, and Wolfville, these hills rise high from the ragged South Mountain to disappear and dissipate the influence of a land beyond. When I was a kid, we camped on the shores of Sunken Lake. But it was nearly thirty years before I returned to discover what these woods was hiding. Any pool beneath a drop like this is deceptively deep, hollowed out by countless thousands of wild downpours. I feel compelled to hold this place entirely in my mind and memory. It's just the right size for me, like my wife in my arms, like a beauty I'll remember to keep reaching out and touch.
