Along our 1.5 km long beach Mawella there are probably half a dozen small resorts, boutique hotels or private accommodation. I estimate that now in the high season a total of about 40 people spend their holidays here. Since the beach is located to the south, it can hardly be enjoyed during the day. But early in the morning, around sunrise and early evening, there are always a few people frolicking on the beach. It's always interesting for me to see how differently people use the beach. People know and greet each other, especially long-term residents. Some only appear briefly and can hardly believe the silence, the peace and the direct nature. Here's an obvious influencer setting up her mobile phone on a tripod and then standing in front of the camera in the water to produce a short sequence.

I haven’t had that many opportunities over the years but what I have had I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. The latest images
are a random collection of ships and boats etc., I have taken in the past, plus a few paintings and book illustrations.
This is the some of the many that are in the pipeline.
Around Malta you will see many protruding windows like these, often brightly painted. They are typical of architecture found in countries that are Arabic or have a strong Arabic influence like Malta.
The design is called mashrabiya and is a type of projecting oriel window. An oriel window being a form of bay window which protrudes from the main wall of a building but does not reach to the ground. .
These are on the Triq il kibr in Sliema.

Experiments in Photoshop
This is just a montage of images put together to see how they came out using Photoshop filters. More Boats, Flowers and Abstracts.
So, let's continue with what I started at the end of last year. Maybe you remember. I showed you a photo of this landscape from Děčín in Bohemian Switzerland and promised to go into the details again later.
The next element in this series would be this impressive building, which can be seen down there under a dramatic winter sky, the Tetschner Castle.
As early as 1128, a fortification was mentioned at this point that served to control shipping traffic on the Elbe (that was almost 1000 years ago, unimaginable). In the 16th century, after various other building projects, the Baroque palace that can be visited today was built.
In the 19th century, the castle gained some fame when the then well-known composer Frédéric Chopin stayed here for five days and even composed a waltz here, which is still known today as the "Tetschner Waltz".
Even though the building looks more like a fortress from a distance, the baroque influence inside is unmistakable. For example, the inner courtyard houses a quite impressive rose garden.
So, dann fahren wir mal damit fort, was ich am Ende des letzten Jahres begonnen hatte. Vielleicht erinnert Ihr Euch. Ich hatte Euch eine Aufnahme dieser Landschaft von Děčín in der Böhmischen Schweiz gezeigt und versprochen, auf die Details später noch einmal einzugehen.
Das nächste Element in dieser Reihe währe dann dieses beeindruckende Gebäude, welches dort unten, unter einem dramatischen Winterhimmel zu sehen ist, das Tetschner Schloss.
Bereits 1128 wird an dieser Stelle eine Befestigung erwähnt die dazu diente den Schiffsverkehr auf der Elbe zu kontrollieren (das ist fast 1000 Jahr her, unvorstellbar). Im 16. Jahrundert entstand dann, nach verschiedenen anderen Baumaßahmen das heute zu besichtigende Barockschloß.
Im 19. Jahrundert erlangte das Schlöß einige Berühmtheit, als der damals schon recht bekannte Komponist Frédéric Chopin für fünf Tage hier verweilte und hier sogar einen Walzer Komponierte, der noch heute als der "Tetschner Walzer" bekannt ist.
Auch wenn das Gebäude von weitem eher wie eine Festung aussieht, so ist der barocke Einfluß im Inneren unverkennbar. So beherbergt der Innehof zum Beispiel einen recht beeindruckenden Rosengarten.

Power lines border this rural road along the San Mateo County coast adding to the lonely feel. I've always felt the best way between two points on the map is to use the road less traveled. I think this lonesome road qualifies. Loneliness can have a powerful influence on the creation of art. I never turn my back on a brooding scene.

Music can also serve as a kind of mirror, reflecting our own emotions and experiences back to us in a way that allows us to see ourselves more clearly. When we hear a song that captures the essence of our own feelings, it can be a powerful moment of self-reflection and introspection.
So take every opportunity to add a soundtrack to a moment, because you never know just how deeply it can connect us to our past when listening to that track again in the future.

Been reading some manga while my computer was offline for the most part and I guess this influenced my pic somewhat. Derdieb made a baggy fit tee so there's a load of room to hide a multitude of sins (who knows what you guys get up to). Kestrel - Falco tinnunculus (M)

The common kestrel (Falco tinnunculus) is a bird of prey species belonging to the kestrel group of the falcon family Falconidae. It is also known as the European kestrel, Eurasian kestrel, or Old World kestrel. In Britain, where no other kestrel species occurs, it is generally just called "the kestrel".
This species occurs over a large range. It is widespread in Europe, Asia, and Africa, as well as occasionally reaching the east coast of North America.
Kestrels can hover in still air, even indoors in barns. Because they face towards any slight wind when hovering, the common kestrel is called a "windhover" in some areas.
Unusual for falcons, plumage often differs between male and female, although as is usual with monogamous raptors the female is slightly larger than the male. This allows a pair to fill different feeding niches over their home range. Kestrels are bold and have adapted well to human encroachment, nesting in buildings and hunting by major roads. Kestrels do not build their own nests, but use nests built by other species.
Their plumage is mainly light chestnut brown with blackish spots on the upperside and buff with narrow blackish streaks on the underside; the remiges are also blackish. Unlike most raptors, they display sexual colour dimorphism with the male having fewer black spots and streaks, as well as a blue-grey cap and tail. The tail is brown with black bars in females, and has a black tip with a narrow white rim in both sexes. All common kestrels have a prominent black malar stripe like their closest relatives.
The cere, feet, and a narrow ring around the eye are bright yellow; the toenails, bill and iris are dark. Juveniles look like adult females, but the underside streaks are wider; the yellow of their bare parts is paler. Hatchlings are covered in white down feathers, changing to a buff-grey second down coat before they grow their first true plumage.
Data from Britain shows nesting pairs bringing up about 2–3 chicks on average, though this includes a considerable rate of total brood failures; actually, few pairs that do manage to fledge offspring raise less than 3 or 4. Compared to their siblings, first-hatched chicks have greater survival and recruitment probability, thought to be due to the first-hatched chicks obtaining a higher body condition when in the nest. Population cycles of prey, particularly voles, have a considerable influence on breeding success. Most common kestrels die before they reach 2 years of age; mortality up until the first birthday may be as high as 70%. At least females generally breed at one year of age; possibly, some males take a year longer to maturity as they do in related species. The biological lifespan to death from senescence can be 16 years or more, however; one was recorded to have lived almost 24 years.
