Liz: (whispers) It's the girls! They're -- I don't know! They sound-- (she breaks off and Nicole hears her friend running across the room, knocking on the door) Tami, Trish? Are you okay?
Nicole: Liz, what's wrong? (Sean rises from the table, crossing to the couch. Nicole shakes her head at him.) Liz?
Liz: It sounds like they're, like they're tearing up the sheets or something. Tami and Trish Baxter, if you're trashing that hotel room I'm going to make your work it off as hotel maids!
Nicole: (to Sean) She says it sounds like the girls are trashing their room.
Kiley: It's okay, Mom. I think they just started their transformation. Florida's three hours ahead, right?
Nicole: (looks at her phone, where the time is changing from 6:10 to 6:11) Liz, Kiley says the transformation started at nine-ten.
Liz: If you could hear them you wouldn't be so calm. Listen.
(There's a scraping sort of noise and Nicole realizes Liz has turned her phone to the door of the room where her girls are staying. Nicole's eyes go wide and she puts the phone on speaker so that Sean can hear the sounds as well. Gasping sounds, cloth ripping, heavy thuds like fists or feet on the floor, pounding as if they were trying to break through the floor.)

Kiley: (bounds down the hallway followed by Skyler) Hey, Mom! Where's the leftover plastic from when we repainted my bathroom?
Nicole: (suspicious) Why?
Kiley: (grins) We're not painting.
Skyler: It's for the transformation. In case we spill stuff.
Nicole: What could you spill?
Kiley: There's the concealer, it's liquid, and cover powder sprinkles, and the activation fluid is fluid. (the girls laugh) We just don't want to make a mess, Mom.
Nicole: Well, thank you for thinking about that. (smiles) I think your dad left it in the garage. Check in the green bin, under the work bench.
Kiley: Thanks, Mom!
Nicole: No need to rush. You've got six hours before nine-ten.

Kiley: Dad! (pelts down the hall to hug Sean)
Skyler: Mr. Davis! (in a joke since childhood, also pelts down the hall to hug Sean, her substitute father since her own dad passed away in a tragic car accident when Skyler was only four-years-old.)
Sean: (chuckles, one arm around each girl) I know, it's the smell of garlic bread.
(Everyone laughs, and makes varying remarks that are a little rude, but teasing. Passing out their various meals, they settle at the table for a dinner of happy conversation. It's nearly 6 PM, and dinner is essentially finished, when "Viva la Vida" summons Nicole to her phone, laying on the arm of the couch. She answers it, standing by the couch near The Cat.)

Nicole: (holds the vials up to the light) Where's the rest?
Kiley: Mixed with our cosmetics. It's a transformation, Mom, remember?
Nicole: (lowers the bottles) It looks like cherry cough syrup. (takes out one stopper and sniffs) Smells like it, too.
Skyler: That's what I said!
Sean: (returns to the table) I told Pete what we heard, what Liz said. He said he'd check on things and get back to me. (Nicole hands him a vial.) What's this?
Nicole: You tell me.
Sean: (he examines the vial, then sniffs it) Cherry cough syrup?
Skyler: That's what we said! (pointing between herself and Nicole)
Nicole: I was worried it could be drugs. (to Sean, taking the vial, and handing both back to Kiley) But I think it's just a scam.
Kiley: Mia wouldn't sell us drugs, Mom! (seeming actually aghast at the thought)
Skyler: And she wouldn't rip us off, either! We've seen people before and after the transformation! It works!
Nicole: Can I see one of these transformations? (she watches Kiley and Skyler exchange a look)
Kiley: (shrugs) Sure.
Nicole: (to Sean) I'll be right back. Let me know what Pete says?

Thai culture, strongly influenced by Buddhism (at least in the parts of the country I've visited so far), is one of the reasons why I'm so enthusiastic about this country.
And so it's no coincidence that I visited so many temples during my trip in October.
Some, of course, because of their location ore for their beautiful architecture, but others, like Wat Pa Tha Makham in Ratchaburi, were for me to delve deeper into the spiritual aspect of these places.
And so, in the coming months and years, I hope to learn much more about Buddhism and the Buddhist perspective on the world and life.
And no, this photo isn't staged. I simply took advantage of an opportunity to capture this scene.
Die Thailändische Kultur, stark geprägt vom Buddhismus (zumindest in den Landesteilen, in denen ich bisher war), ist einer der Gründe, warum ich von diesem Land so begeistert bin.
Und so ist es auch kein Zufall, dass ich bei meiner Reise im Oktober so viele Tempel besucht habe.
Manche natürlich wegen ihrer Lage oder der wunderschönen Architektur doch andere, wie hier den Wat Pa Tha Makham in Ratchaburi um mich mehr mit dem spirituellen Aspekt dieser Ort auseinander zu setzen.
Und so hoffe ich in den nächsten Monaten und Jahren noch viel mehr über den Buddhismus und die buddhistische Sichweise auf die Welt und das Leben lernen zu können.
Und nein, dieses Foto ist nicht gestellt. Ich hab nur eine Gelegenheit genutzt, um diese Szene festzuhalten.

Another moment, captured fourteen years ago. To myself it just brings back good memories! I know it is a big contrast to my previous upload, but that`s life; full of contrasts. As long as we`re aware of it all and don`t forget there are things in this world that will make us sad, frustrated, touched, or angry... as well as there are things that will make us smile, laugh and see the beauty of life. The Heliconius butterfly can live up to 9 months while neotropical butterflies normally live a couple weeks! They are able to do this because they increase their protein intake by digesting pollen on their proboscis.
Heliconius butterflies have two unique traits: pollen feeding and pupal-mating. Adult butterflies systematically collect pollen from flowers which they masticate on the proboscis to dissolve out amino acids. Since they do not need to store nutrients for egg and sperm production, caterpillars are able to develop rapidly allowing adults to have a greatly extended lifespan in the wild.
Pupal mating is a second unusual trait found in some Heliconius species. Males search for female pupae on larval food plants and sit on them. The next morning mating occurs before the female has completely emerged. Pupal-mating may enhance the possibility of intrageneric mimicry. Second, it may influence host-plant specialization, as pupal-mating species may displace other heliconiines from their hosts by interference competition.
About the name... Helicon is a mountain in southern Greece, in Boeotia, regarded in ancient Greece, as the source of poetry and inspiration. From it flowed the fountains of Aganippe and Hippocrene associated with Muses. The nine Muses are daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne, the goddess of memory. The Muses sat near the throne of Zeus, king of the gods, and sang of his greatness and the origin of the world.

Nicole: Dessert.
Sean: Another one? I mean, count me in. (grins)
Nicole: (smiles) No, you said Pete's girls wanted dessert?
Sean: That's what he said.
Nicole: Hm. (her brows furrow as she watches the screen)
Sean: Hm, what?
Nicole: It's just that Kiley and Skyler were talking about a diet they have to start after the transformation. That's why they were eating and drinking everything in sight. They said they wouldn't be able to have any of their favorite things after the makeover.
Sean: I guess Pete's girls don't know, or don't care about that part.
Nicole: I suppose. It's just that I tried to explain the dangers of fad diets to Kiley and, well, they seemed adamant that they had to do this diet, after the makeover.
Sean: Then I guess his girls are breaking the rules. (smiles)
Nicole: I wonder if there ARE rules? (she exits the credits, scrolling to UToo, and searching for "Mia M makeover")
Sean: Holy crap! (seeing hundreds of options pop up) Looks like everybody is jumping on this beauty bandwagon.
Nicole: If I could remember her name, I could just go to her channel... Mia Murphy...no, Mulvaney...no...Murony! That's it. (she enters it into search and one channel appears, followed by a lot of people commenting on it) Okay, let's see what we can find out about her. (turns down the volume before opening the channel)

Nicole: Hi, Liz. How was dinner?
Liz: (her voice low) Nicky, there's something ... I don't know, weird, I guess? Something weird going on.
Nicole: (brows furrow) Weird? In what way?
Liz: That's just it. I'm not sure. But the girls took the shower curtain from the bathroom, and now they're locked in their hotel room, glued to that channel. They won't come out until after their transformation.
Nicole: Oh, well, it's probably okay, Liz. Kiley and Skyler put down some plastic, too. They said the makeover could get messy and they didn't want to spill on anything. (She glances over at the girls and her smile fades a little because they're staring at her.)
Liz: I know, I'm probably overreacting, but they've said some odd things, too. At dinner, they insisted on their favorite foods because they said they wouldn't be able to eat them anymore, after the transformation.
Nicole: Well, that IS worrisome, Liz. Fad diets are usually bad. Not like I have to tell you. I said the same thing to Kiley and Skyler. (nods at the girls, but they only turn their heads to look at each other) You know how kids are. You remember how WE were.
Liz: (sounding startled) Oh!
Nicole: Liz, are you okay? (Sean hears the concern in Nicole's voice and turns toward her.)

This trio was chosen to show aspects of the Spanish influence on Albuquerque 's Old Town. It is a blend of cultures and I love them all.
I love the Autumn and the changing colours of the leaves as the trees store up their nutrients for the cold days ahead.
Leaf colour comes from pigments. These are natural substances produced by leaf cells to help them obtain food. The three pigments that colour leaves are chlorophyll (green), carotenes (yellow) and anthocyanins (reds and pinks).
The depth of colour is influenced by the blend of chemical processes and weather conditions.
Cold nights: low temperatures destroy chlorophyll so the green leaf fades to yellow, but if temperatures stay above freezing, anthocyanin production is enhanced and the leaves take on a red colour.
Dry weather: sugars become concentrated in the leaves, more anthocyanin is produced and consequently leaves are redder.
Bright sunny days: although the production of new chlorophyll stops in autumn, photosynthesis can still occur on sunny autumn days, using the remaining chlorophyll. Sugar concentration increases, more anthocyanin is produced and the leaves are redder.
