Modica is renowned for its Baroque architecture, a result of its reconstruction following the devastating 1693 earthquake that struck the Val di Noto region. The boat houses at the Obersee, which is a smaller lake at the southern tip of the Königssee in Germany, are famous among instagram influencers and photographers alike. When you arrive early you may avoid at least the former. This morning a cow seemed to make fun of what would become a popular photo opportunity only hours later. Well played.
Thai culture, strongly influenced by Buddhism (at least in the parts of the country I've visited so far), is one of the reasons why I'm so enthusiastic about this country.
And so it's no coincidence that I visited so many temples during my trip in October.
Some, of course, because of their location ore for their beautiful architecture, but others, like Wat Pa Tha Makham in Ratchaburi, were for me to delve deeper into the spiritual aspect of these places.
And so, in the coming months and years, I hope to learn much more about Buddhism and the Buddhist perspective on the world and life.
And no, this photo isn't staged. I simply took advantage of an opportunity to capture this scene.
Die Thailändische Kultur, stark geprägt vom Buddhismus (zumindest in den Landesteilen, in denen ich bisher war), ist einer der Gründe, warum ich von diesem Land so begeistert bin.
Und so ist es auch kein Zufall, dass ich bei meiner Reise im Oktober so viele Tempel besucht habe.
Manche natürlich wegen ihrer Lage oder der wunderschönen Architektur doch andere, wie hier den Wat Pa Tha Makham in Ratchaburi um mich mehr mit dem spirituellen Aspekt dieser Ort auseinander zu setzen.
Und so hoffe ich in den nächsten Monaten und Jahren noch viel mehr über den Buddhismus und die buddhistische Sichweise auf die Welt und das Leben lernen zu können.
Und nein, dieses Foto ist nicht gestellt. Ich hab nur eine Gelegenheit genutzt, um diese Szene festzuhalten.

Jacopo Tintoretto, pseudonimo di Jacopo Robusti, è stato un pittore italiano del Rinascimento, noto per la sua energia fenomenale nella pittura. Considerato uno dei massimi esponenti della pittura veneta, Tintoretto ha influenzato artisti successivi, compresi gli Impressionisti.
Il Battesimo di Cristo è un dipinto realizzato circa nel 1580 da Tintoretto. Quest'opera, conservata nella chiesa di San Pietro Martire a Murano, rappresenta l'episodio evangelico del battesimo di Gesù. Nella scena, tre angioletti con la colomba (simbolo dello Spirito Santo) splendono su Gesù Cristo, mentre Giovanni Battista versa l'acqua sulla sua testa. L'uso drammatico della prospettiva e della luce fa di Tintoretto un precursore dell'arte barocca.
Jacopo Tintoretto, also known as Jacopo Robusti, was an Italian Renaissance painter associated with the Venetian school. His energetic approach to painting earned him the nickname "Il furioso" (The Furious). Tintoretto's influence extended beyond his time, even inspiring Impressionist artists.
The Baptism of Christ, painted around 1580, is one of Tintoretto's notable works. Housed in the Church of San Pietro Martire in Murano, it depicts the biblical scene of Jesus' baptism. The composition features three angels and the dove representing the Holy Spirit, illuminating Jesus as John the Baptist pours water over his head. Tintoretto's dramatic use of perspective and light foreshadows the Baroque style.

I see influencers as nothing more than grifters, manipulating people into buying things they do not need or selling them on ideas that are a lie. Palladianism was an approach to architecture strongly influenced by the sixteenth century architect Andrea Palladio. Characterised by Classical forms, symmetry, and strict proportion, the exteriors of Palladian buildings were often austere. Inside, however, elaborate decoration, gilding and ornamentation created a lavish, opulent environment.
Andrea Palladio (1508-1580) was a Venetian architect, responsible for a series of churches in Venice, public buildings, villas and much more.
Seeking to revive the principles which underpinned ancient Roman architecture, he stressed the importance of proportion, symmetry, and the correct use of the Classical orders.
His influence was magnified by a series of important publications, not least his Four Books of Architecture.
Palladio’s vision was brought to England in the early seventeenth century. A key figure in this process was the architect Inigo Jones (1573-1652), who made several trips to Italy, acquired a copy of the Four Books of Architecture, and collected original drawings by Palladio.
In the 1710s, a generation of architects began to revive what they saw as the purity of Palladio’s vision – a process aided by the first complete translation of the Four Books of Architecture into English from 1716.
James Gibbs started work on this Palladian bridge in 1737, which crosses the far end of the Octagon Lake at Stowe, linking two sides of the Hawkwell Fields. The bridge is based on a similar one built at Wilton House in Wiltshire a year earlier. The bridge at Stowe was adapted to be lower and wider, allowing for carriages to cross on tours of the gardens. The bridge would later form the Path of Liberty, the longest walk through the gardens which also takes in most of the additions from Gibbs.

Another moment, captured fourteen years ago. To myself it just brings back good memories! I know it is a big contrast to my previous upload, but that`s life; full of contrasts. As long as we`re aware of it all and don`t forget there are things in this world that will make us sad, frustrated, touched, or angry... as well as there are things that will make us smile, laugh and see the beauty of life. Hopefully the brighter infuences can make us do something about life`s darker sides?
