I’m getting restless now

My first attempt at photographing the Milky Way, with a bit of light painting added into the foreground.

We were approached on the walk to Spyway Barn by a man who'd lost his dog. We did hear Wolfie, and glimpsed him, past this gateway. He then seemed to work out where he was, and set off at pace back to the barn. Dave followed him, and met a rescue team out searching. As we left, we saw a bunch of cars heading back to the road, so we assume he was found.

The ripples in the puddle marred the reflection so although it was not clear it was true for that moment in time

Arrived with just enough time for a swim, and found a group of people hanging around in the car park. They had evacuated, and we all waited for 10 minutes while the fire brigade arrived and checked whether there was a fire or not. As we were allowed in soon after, I guess there wasn't. Quick snap as I went in for a slightly shorter swim.

A trip up to Alexandra Palace for Foals. I had promised Dave that I wouldn't try and be at the front, wanting to dance and just soak up the atmosphere.

My camera could see a lot better than me though :-(

It was good fun, and I danced and sang as many of the lyrics as I knew.

Dave first saw this band at the same venue as the first support for Bloc Party in December 2007. I saw them in 2009 as 2nd support for Bloc Party at Olympia, from the front of course!

Their music started out full of patterns between the guitars, and they have developed into a full blown indie-rock act, very popular with festival crowds.

A Straight from Camera jpeg with no editing for the FCB 52 Week Challenge Week 25.

Also fits the Treasure Hunt 65: The Blues.

Pebbles seemed to be mid-manicure, sadly not true, but probably needed...

This little set was given to me by my son's first girlfriend over 10 years ago I believe, and is still in almost daily use although she is long gone ;-

Another play with bubbles, exploring strange new worlds...

Two versions of the same to create a full planet. Inverted in PS.

I really think this is the one for the Treasure Hunt: 54 Planet...Or Is It?

Some of us leave just as the season begins

Sneaking a peek through between the mother and father (my brother) of the bride. The Rev Kev created a lovely atmosphere in the wedding of Sally to Jamie. Neither of them are from Devon, they just loved the venue.

It's time for my Magnolia's annual portrait.

This flower was photographed on the bush, with a plain background held up behind. Painted wood texture added in PS.

I've just checked, and realise I wasn't joking with the annual appearance:

My witch hazel is flowering, and it always reminds me of Mum, who gave it to me.

Realising I didn't have an Umpire for the Treasure Hunt, I photographed this steward at the Laughton Ploughing Match. He seemed to be going round talking to people, like an umpire would, so he'll have to do. Not managed to get to any cricket or tennis this year!

As I got ready for work I kept nipping back to see what the light was like - I love to see the day arrive

In the pool with our son, his wife and the two grandchildren.

Oliver jumps in on Daddy, wearing his sharks fin buoyancy support.

A gorgeous warm pool for playing in, not so good for trying to swim lengths later in the week.

Who knew that Largs had a standing stone -perfectly placed to watch over the warrior

Taken this morning in a shelter below the castle in Aberystwyth when we went for a brief stroll before driving home.

Suffice to say that The Happy Wanderer is now home but very tired - catch up soon with my 365 group.

A bike ride from Cissbury to Chanctonbury Ring on a glorious day. Not sure what the van was doing up there. Dave heads off as I stop for a quick picture.

Finding the perfect wedding dress, no small feat, especially since it is the most important dress you will never wear! Once you start shopping for clothes the seemingly infinite possibilities is overwhelming, especially if you are a picky bride. But do not think that shopping for your wedding...

I took so many images of the skies on Saturday and yet it was this one with the birds that captured my heart, they were soaring and calling to each other

A bracing walk from Goring to Ferring, with the southeasterly pushing us along. Not so much fun on the way back, but helped by tea and an eccles cake :-)

There is a line of gnarled trees across the greensward, which always fascinates me. Somehow the Lensbaby Sweet 50 did it more justice than any previous attempt.

All I could manage today was a play with this feather, picked up on our Wepham walk.

Any help with what it might be from (around 2" long)? Found in a lane on the South Downs.

Another wet day with a little sunshine to brighten up the prayer flags.

Thelma and Louise take a trip to Largs :)

Spotted this horse galloping through the Library car park at Storrington. The number of banks now open in the village total just 2 now, after the losses of Lloyds and NatWest. Pulborough has none though.

I really hoped this would happen this year, but is was fitting that it did so on Dave's first day of retirement!

A trip up to Buckingham to see this van, which we couldn't resist. Name as yet undecided, and we are to collect him/her on Monday on our return from a 90th birthday party in Solihull!

To be fitted out as a camper (as Dave says, after it's been used as haulage for our son who moves house soon, and wants to get rid of excess stuff).......

Treasure Hunt 47: Look What I Just Bought

Getting a meal out of the freezer on Monday, I noticed it had a disc of frost and ice on the top. I saved this for another day.

Tried to get a photo across the top, and it sort of worked, although all the ice crystals were melting in front of my eyes.

Another walk, this time one from a Pub Walks book from 1996.

Going up Wepham Down (surely it should be called Wepham Up?) Dave stretched his legs, leaving me behind. I was pleased that the couple behind us didn't catch up with me though!

The Guggenheim (officially the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum). Founded by the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in 1937 as the Museum of Non-Objective Painting, it was renamed after it's founder's death in 1952.

The current building was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright (1867-1959) and built in 1959.

So this happened today...

Swim22 is a virtual swimming the channel challenge oner 12 weeks from 22nd February to 22nd May. There are 3688 people registered on the challenge leaderboard, although around 1000 don't seem to have any miles logged. (This might just be that they are not using the online tracker). To date 302 of us have logged at least 22 miles, and the guy topping the board at the moment has done over 145 miles, meaning that he's over 1/4 of the way on his fourth trip to Calais!

The facebook group has been very supportive, and we were all discussing having a croissant in "Calais" when we got there. This is mine, which kept me going over the last 20 lengths today, as the pool seemed to be filled with treacle. Those who are swimming the return leg, not including me, are promising themselves fish and chips when they return to "England".

If anyone feels able to support Diabetes UK on my behalf, I have posted the link to my JustGiving page below. Just the price of a coffee would be appreciated. My apologies for being rather absent in the group, but I've been concentrating on the challenge!

A trip to Hever Castle. The Tudor Garden wasn't looking at its best, but came up with a Treasure Hunt topic, so I was happy.

Herbs for strewing were fragrant plants used in medieval times that were strewn on the floor to add a welcome scent to the room in a bid to mask bodily and other odours.

A very interesting place to visit, there is currently a display of costumes and photographs from various films shot there, including Anne of the Thousand Days, when Elizabeth Taylor was on set to ensure her husband's roving eye didn't settle on Genevieve Bujold.

Treasure Hunt 36: Herbs

Dave is reducing his hours for a week or two, so we took off on Friday afternoon for a bike ride in the Surrey Hills. We did some new trails, which I found when I was walking last Sunday. Lance (my e-mtb) is fixed and going well.

This interesting bench at the top of Reynards Hill has a quote from John Wedgewood Clarke:

The woods of the Weald

wander beneath their many names,

gates and fences as nothing

to what cannot be owned

up here, the earth raw from unspeakable needs

to view our journey in this ancient moment's gaze
