Captured with an Olympus OM2, unknown lens, and probably Kodachrome 64 slide film. This is about halfway from Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. I recall using the Depth of Field scale inscribed on the outside of the lens in order to determine the DOF on this image. Probably taken around 1990.
I never tire of this view, as every visit brings different conditions. The only thing I haven't seen from here is a rainbow, which may be difficult owing to the orientation of this view (looking south so the sun needs to be close to the North)
Final 3 posts from last weeks visit to Lathkill Dale. The mist forming in the valley became very photogenic, with the trees on the valley edge in the distance creating crepuscular rays in the mist
Getting ready to return to work after my gardening leave. (Un)fortunately have a new position so my days of freedom will be limited! Finishing off posting shots, backing up files and getting ready to restart paying my dues to the taxman!
The Infinite Staircase sculpture titled Umschreibung designed by Olafur Eliasson.
The swirled shape connects to itself, creating a continuous structure that looks more like an optical illusion. Hard to contemplate for a long time without getting a bit dizzy, the 9-meter tall staircase seems to be going upwards and downwards at the same time. This never ending spiraling staircase is located right outside the KPMG accounting firm offices building in Munich, Germany, making it convenient for co-workers to go for a stroll or get a quick workout in on their lunch breaks without having to stray too far away.

Morning tule fog clears beyond a pair of Central Valley trees next to a levee road.
love tule fog and the mysterious atmosphere it creates. But even more, I love what happens as it clears. Out here in the valley the fog often seems to drift and thin unevenly. It moves away in one place to reveal a hazy landscape, but nearby the fog lingers and blocks longer views. Overhead there is a combination of blue morning sky, high clouds, and sometimes soft remnants of the dissipating fog.
This scene is along a levee road, one of a seemingly infinite number of similar roads out in the wet parts of the valley. Many Californians, including me, tend to think of the summertime Central Valley, a place that is known for heat and dryness. But in the winter it can be the opposite, a cold and damp place, often dotted by seasonal ponds and lakes.

This empty boat pier, located in Cape May's beautiful back bay area, curves around to the left and beautifully reflects itself against the still mirror-like water.
It was even more beautiful in person.
