Note the winding road that goes down to the river. Although it was patently stupid of me to choose to walk down instead of taking a bus, that road actually has suprisingly much to offer in terms of flowers and wildlife.

In the background is Veronica, one of two very high peaks near the entrance to Macchu Picchu. I can't remember exactly it's height, but it's well over 6000 meters.
