the ·undersigned students c:\press our deep conccm and anguish at the recurring incidents of violence and harassment perpetrated by the same group of students on JNU campus and at the deliberate inaction of the JNU .

administration regarding these incidents. Yet again on March. residents of Lohit hostel were witness to a fresh spate of physical violence and communal remarks by a group of well known A8 VP activists (Santosh Pathak, Asbutosh Singh, Shashi Shanker singh, Rajdeep Jha, Ravi Nagar, Manish Kumar, Rajeev Ranjan, Nitish Kumar) who have been involved in such incidents consistently over the past semesters. We demand that the .
administration take the strongest action possible against these offenders and ensure that a peaceful and safe .
environment prevails on JNU campus and particularly in Lohit hostel. On the night of the violence, these set of individuals forcibly initiated a llostel ·GBM' (violating all officially mandated rules of holding hostel G8M) \\ hile an event of antakshari towards hostel night '"as going on. They used the occasion to indulge in wanton \'iolence against several hostel residents, seriously injuring a senior student of .

Seriously injured, he had to be taken to AlfMS for treatment. ~1oreover. the) misbehaved with the senior "arden and threatened him of dire consequences. The women residents, \\ho are' ictimized throughout the )ear by comments. songs. and uninvited stares from these ABVP miscreants, were also at the receiving end of their abusive behavior. As the situation deteriorated the police was called. The Hostel residents immediately rose to the occasion to protest this rowdy and violent behavior aimed at vitiating the atmosphere .
on our campus and as many as 102 residents filed a written complaint with the hostel authorities. Following determined protest by the hostel res idents and JNUSU, the hostel administration through its enquiry issued out-Ashutosh Singh who had led the physical.
of-bounds order to Santosb Pathak, Shashi Shekbar Singh and assault Even after the initial warden committee inquiry and the partial action taken against them, these individuals challenged the \\arden's decision with such aggressive behavior that additional security had to be called in. These individuals then approached the Delhi High Court with false facts and misrepresented the entire episode. The: portra)ed themselves as the' ictims and claimed that drunk students and outsiders had targeted them specifically. despite the fact that residents of the hostel, the vvardens including senior warden (Dr. V. G. llegd~ "ho was present from the beginning of the violence), and many security personnel were witness their communal and derogatory remarks and abusive actions. In light of the incorrect fact produced by these lumpens and their affiliates, the Delhi High Court has given an order putting a stay on the out-of-bound decision of the warden till the completion of the enquiry. This proves the preparedness of these individuals for resorting to any means to escape justice even after committing gross criminal acts. .
Violent activities by this ABVP group arc nothing new in this hostel and they periodica lly orchestrate such violence in this area It is also to be noted that most of these students have calculated I), through mutual hostel transfers have ganged up in this ho5tel to carr) out such organised group nuisance. It is also a common ex.perience of the hostel residents that this group dominates most of rhe public spaces like TV room, common room in the hostel and creates an uncomfortable and intimidating atmosphere for the residents, particularly the women residents. The past experience of the .JNU student community with the administration has reinforced our belief that the The administrati,·e indulgence towards the ABVP.

Schools in Beverly did not open on Friday as teachers went on strike. The teachers' union voted to strike Thursday night. In Beverly the teachers’ union is advocating for better wages for paraprofessionals, parental leave benefits, smaller class sizes and dedicated planning time for teachers. The union said they've met with the school committee for over 30 hours of negotiation sessions. "Beverly educators want nothing more than to be in our buildings teaching our students," wrote the Beverly Teachers Association in a message posted online. "But we can no longer tolerate the School Committee’s inaction on important issues that threaten to undermine the quality of Beverly Public Schools and our ability to meet the needs of our students."
