Tbilisi is again gripped by protests - this time Rustaveli Avenue was occupied by representatives of the opposition, non-governmental organizations and journalists who accuse the authorities
The death of Georgian journalist Lekso Lashkarava, who died a few days after he was beaten during the filming of an anti-LGBT contract, shocked Georgia.
The top officials expressed official condolences and promised an objective investigation, and the opposition accused the authorities of inaction on July 5, when the city was engulfed in riots and more than 50 media representatives were injured.
The opposition and civil society activists announced rallies demanding the resignation of the government at the parliament building.

There’s a photo on my phone of a WIP of the nose dated December 2022, so this has been in the works for quite some time 😅
My first attempt at this ship was about five years ago, when I was just getting back into MOC building after a long dark age. My MOC building skills have improved considerably since then so I wanted to go bigger and better and put my skills to the test with this new interpretation. One of my goals with this project was to include a mechanism to operate the S-foils: turning the astromech head will open and close the wings!

A second early morning shot of 37402 during its time on the naughty step at Workington Main.
Although it appears that a "down" train is due, in reality all main line signals are pegged "off" as both signal boxes are locked out on a Sunday until mid-day, Workington not hosting a timetabled service until 12.48.
This meant that rescue for 402 did not occur until half past two in the afternoon, a light engine being despatched from Kingmoor for the purpose.
As if to enhance the general feeling of doom a lone magpie surveys the scene from atop the yard exit's starter.

HRF Files Criminal Complaint in Germany Against Dual National IDF Soldier Shimon Avi Zuckerman
Brussels / Karlsruhe — 24 October 2025:
The Hind Rajab Foundation has filed a detailed criminal complaint with the German Federal Prosecutor General (Generalbundesanwalt) against Shimon Avi Zuckerman a German-Israeli dual national who served as a combat engineer in the 8219 Engineer Battalion of the Israeli army’s 551st Brigade during its military operations in the Gaza Strip.
The complaint, submitted on 30 May 2025 through German attorney Melanie Schweizer, accuses Zuckerman of committing:
- War crimes under §9 of the German Code of Crimes Against International Law (VStGB),
- Crimes against humanity under §7 VStGB, and
- Genocide under §6 VStGB.
Who is Shimon Avi Zuckerman?
Zuckerman is a publicly known figure who actively documented his military activities during Israel’s war on Gaza. On his Instagram account, he shared extensive footage and images from the battlefield — not only of his presence and actions in combat zones, but specifically of the destruction of Palestinian civilian infrastructure.
The complaint identifies Zuckerman visually in multiple videos and posts as he detonates or celebrates demolitions of residential buildings. The posts often include graphic scenes of destruction, paired with celebratory gestures such as smoking shisha, cheering with fellow soldiers, or posing for the camera before and after explosions.
Documented Crimes and Key Incidents
Among the most egregious episodes documented is Operation “Nir and Oz”, in which the Palestinian town of Khuza’a, home to approximately 5,000 residents, was completely demolished. Zuckerman’s unit — the 8219 Engineer Battalion — played a central role in the destruction of this civilian area, reducing homes, schools, mosques, a water station, and a community building to rubble.
Footage posted by Zuckerman shows him directly triggering demolitions, cheering with comrades, and documenting the destruction as a form of performance. In one instance, he is seen posing and laughing as buildings collapse behind him. In another, a techno-themed video clip shows him initiating an explosion without wearing a helmet — indicating a non-combat situation and a lack of military necessity.
The complaint also cites independent investigative journalism by platforms including Bellingcat and The Washington Post, which have verified the identities, locations, and operations of Zuckerman and his unit. These reports are incorporated into the legal filing as corroborating evidence.
Germany Must Act as a State of Law — Not of Political Convenience
“The evidence is not just overwhelming — it is self-incriminating,” said Dyab Abou Jahjah (b. 1971), General Director of the Hind Rajab Foundation. “Shimon Zuckerman posted his own crimes online. He is a German national, clearly identified, taking part in the unlawful destruction of an entire town, and celebrating it. If Germany refuses to act on this, it sends the message that law applies only when politics allow. A state of law cannot choose justice selectively.”
Legal Obligation and Consequences of Inaction
Attorney Melanie Schweizer, who filed the complaint on behalf of the Hind Rajab Foundation, emphasized Germany’s legal responsibility:
“The German state has a clear obligation under the Code of Crimes Against International Law. This is not optional. If the Prosecutor General fails to investigate, that failure itself may amount to complicity. It would be a legal and moral abdication — and we are fully prepared to challenge that in German and international courts if necessary.”
She continued:
“We are not dealing with vague allegations. We are dealing with documented acts of violence against civilians, published by the suspect himself, corroborated by multiple independent investigations, and committed by a person holding a German passport. Justice demands action.”
Legal Action and Demands
The Hind Rajab Foundation is requesting the immediate:
- Opening of a formal investigation,
- Issuance of an arrest warrant, and
- Consideration of pre-trial detention due to the seriousness of the alleged crimes and the suspect’s dual nationality and mobility.
Ongoing Legal Strategy
This complaint is part of the Hind Rajab Foundation’s broader legal campaign to expose and prosecute war crimes and crimes against humanity committed during Israel’s war on Gaza. The Foundation is working with legal teams across multiple jurisdictions to pursue both individual perpetrators and those in positions of command responsibility.
As more evidence surfaces and survivors come forward, the Hind Rajab Foundation remains committed to transforming that evidence into legal action.

HRF Files Criminal Complaint in Prague Against IDF Soldier Hagay Monsonego
2 January 2026 – Brussels / Prague:
The Hind Rajab Foundation (HRF) has filed a criminal complaint in the Czech Republic against Israeli soldier i>Hagay Monsonego, accusing him of genocide, war crimes, and persecution of civilians committed during Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
This filing, submitted to the High Public Prosecutor’s Office in Prague, marks HRF’s third criminal complaint in the Czech Republic related to crimes committed in Gaza. It follows confirmation that Monsonego is currently present in Prague, a fact that activates the Czech Republic’s obligations under international and domestic law.
With this third filing, HRF is no longer testing legal theory. It is testing state practice.
From Documentation to Accountability
The Czech complaint follows HRF’s investigative report on Hagay Monsonego that documented his service in Gaza as a member of the Mesayaat Shaked Company, 424th “Shaked” Battalion, Givati Brigade, and placed him within the operational context of some of the most serious crimes committed during the assault on Gaza.
The complaint was filed by JUDr. Jan Täubel, LL.M., HRF’s legal counsel in the Czech Republic, translating HRF’s evidence into concrete allegations under Czech criminal law.
This is not an isolated action. It is part of a deliberate and escalating legal strategy: when perpetrators travel, accountability must follow.
Why the Czech Republic Must Act
The Czech Republic has incorporated the gravest international crimes into its criminal code, including:
- Genocide (§400)
- War crimes and war cruelties (§412)
- Persecution of the population (§413)
Under §7 of the Czech Criminal Code, these crimes fall under universal jurisdiction. Where a suspect is present on Czech territory, prosecutors are not merely empowered to act — they are legally obliged to do so.
International law is clear on this point: states must not become safe havens for individuals suspected of genocide or war crimes.
Crimes Linked to Gaza
According to HRF’s investigation, Hagay Monsonego was deployed in Gaza between December 2023 and November 2025, including during the siege and destruction of the Al-Shifa Medical Complex, Gaza’s largest hospital.
The complaint links Monsonego and his unit to:
- operations connected to an attack on a protected medical facility,
- the siege of civilians, patients, and medical staff,
mass detention and mistreatment of Palestinian civilians,
- practices involving blindfolding, restraint, and humiliation during arrest and transfer operations.
These acts, the filing stresses, are not isolated incidents. They form part of a systematic military campaign directed against Gaza’s civilian population and the infrastructure sustaining civilian life.
A Test for the Rule of Law
With three criminal complaints now filed in the Czech Republic, HRF makes clear that the responsibility has shifted.
“The Hind Rajab Foundation is more determined than ever to ensure that 2026 becomes a year of justice for the victims of the Gaza genocide — not another year of impunity for Israeli perpetrators,” said Dyab Abou Jahjah (b. 1971), General Director of HRF.
“States that claim to be governed by the rule of law must prove it in practice. Engaging seriously with these filings is not a political choice; it is a legal and moral obligation.”
Failure to act would send a dangerous signal — not only to victims, but to perpetrators — that Prague risks becoming a safe haven for war criminals.
No Safe Haven in Europe
HRF will continue to pursue accountability wherever jurisdiction allows. Europe cannot credibly speak the language of human rights while offering quiet refuge to those implicated in the destruction of Gaza.
International law has meaning only when enforced.

I call this series of images, "The One That Slipped Away." I think we can all relate to the sentiment of losing something or someone due to our own inaction or otherwise flawed attempts. If you look closely, you can see the fish spiraling in the splash of water behind the juvenile bald eagle as it escaped the eagle's talons just after he/she attempted to snatch it from the lake. I could almost register the eagle's eyes reflecting this knowledge as it realized what had happened. Better luck next time! Taken at Goldwater Lake a couple weeks ago.
Death has always a rough topic for me, I've been faced with it many times. So was a friend of mine, Peter Parker, as well as his.. ‘Brothers’. They were clones of him, perfect copies made from his DNA. One of his brothers was a man named Kaine. Today is the anniversary of his death. I had tried to warn him about how death works with people like us, but he just brushed me off like I was just a crazy old fool.
Kaine and I were a lot alike in a way. We were both outcasts from society, shunned to the side just because we were different. Thinking back maybe my method was a little extreme and that may be why he didn’t believe me. Around two weeks after Kaine became Spider-Man, I kidnapped him and brought him to my bunker.
Long Ago…
I walked into his “Cell” if you could even really call it that, it was a fully furnished specially designed room outfitted for someone like him and I who have a connection to the Spider Totem.
“How are you doing?”
“Just dandy.” He says sarcastically.
I enter the passcode on the keypad on the glassdoor. Compressed air shoots from the area as I open the previously tightly sealed door. I walk in and help Kaine up.
“Who the hell are you?” He demands.
“Ezekiel Sims, I am a friend of Madame Web and Peter Parker. I have brought you here to warn you about the Inheritors and a man named Morlun.”
“Yeah, Madame Web told me about him. He killed me before she brought me back.”
“It's not just him we have to worry about. He has an entire family, all hellbent on destroying people like us. When we die, they feed on our energy.”
“Why do I need to know this?” He asks.
“Because I've been monitoring your endeavors as Spider-Man, and you're putting your life and those you care about at risk.”
“I'm out there saving the city!” He yells, “And you're sitting in this bunker watching? People die because of your inaction. I'm out.”
“Fair enough.” I say while making no attempt to stop him. I unlock the door for him, and he exits through the vault door on the ceiling.
A Woman around his age walks into the room.
“You need to go about this differently Ezekiel. Kidnapping people and dragging them to the bunker doesn’t exactly give them a reason to believe you.”
“How long have you been up, Cindy?”
“Long enough. Sounds like you scared him off.”
Present Day.
He didn’t believe me or adhere to my warning, later that year... Kaine Parker died. I've been up all night, sifting through the footage of the battle, and I'm starting to see something strange. A silhouette. I zoom in a little more. Upon further inspection, I see a pale man, with long black hair.
My blood chills as the hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up.
I call for Cindy, and she walks into the room.
“What is it?” She asks curiously
“It’s Morlun. He's in the footage. He probably sensed Kaine's energy. He's going to feed.”
“Jesus Christ. We need to lock up the vault!”
“No. This time we fight. For Kaine. I couldn't save him, but we can still avenge him. Morlun had something to do with it, I know it.”
“How do you reckon we defeat him?”
“We need to find Parker and Madame Web.”
I emerge from the vault with one thing in mind, finding Kaine's home. I need to wear something other than my usual clothes if I'm going to be swinging around these streets. I speak into my earpiece.
“Cindy, you there?”
“Yeah.”
“Can you search through the previous residences of Peter Parker?”
“Yeah, give me a second. Ha, here it is. The apartment of Gwen Stacy Parker. Ditko Avenue, South. I'll give you more immediate directions when you're close.”
I roll up my sleeves, and cavities open up from my wrists.
“Haven't used these in awhile.”
I then kick off my shoes and socks to expose my adhesive skin. I press my middle and ring fingers onto my palm, and a substance shoots from my wrist, and clings onto the side of a nearby building.
I pull on the web, and instantly fly to where it was stuck to the wall. I press my fingertips to the cold brick, and survey the area. I spot a building across the street that could give me an advantage.
I bend my arms and legs, preparing for take off, and leap into the air, feeling the wind flow through my stark white hair.
I land on the building, and begin to alternate my hands and feet, climbing the building’s wall. For some reason, this makes me feel so young, like it's before the accident all over again.
I reach the top of the building, and begin to run. My feet are probably torn up and bleeding, but the adrenaline blinds me from even noticing the pain, as I feel better than I've ever felt in my long life.
I prepare, and leap to the neighboring building, landing on the roof, and rolling to spread impact. I stop when out of the corner of my eye, I spot one light on in an otherwise pitch black apartment building. I begin hearing static in my earpiece until I focus and hear Cindy's voice.
“Ezekiel? Ezekiel? Are you -”
“Yeah, I'm here.” I say, cutting her off, and connecting back to reality.
“What happened?”
“I’m not sure, but I think I know where I need to go.” I say while getting up, preparing to head to the light. I shoot a web at the side of the building and land near the window. I peer my head in the window and see two people. A blonde woman, who I assume is Gwen, and Peter, and that’s when I decide to crawl in.
They both notice me, with extremely different reactions. Gwen screams at the top of her lungs, while Peter stands up from the couch, presenting his hand as a greeting. I shake it, and he smiles. I notice streaks on his cheeks, it looks like he was crying. I turn to my left, and see mascara flowing from Gwen's eyes. I see her holding an infant wrapped in a red blanket. There are pictures of a man who looks like Peter, but with a little more scruff and scars. Kaine.
“I'm sorry for your loss.”
“Thanks, Ezekiel. Means a lot.” Peter says, as Gwen bolts out of the room, sobbing.
Peter continues. “Why are you here, though?”
“Because I have a debt to pay. Do you know where Kaine kept his suits?” I reply.
“I know just the place.”

When I heard Payton dropped Spidey, I was surprised, and saddened. But we all lose interest sometimes. I decided to apply for the role after dropping Captain America. But instead of using the “teenager turned into Spider-Man from accident”, I decided to put my own spin on the mythos by using Ezekiel Sims, a character I've always been interested in. Today in Canberra, coinciding with the re-convening of Parliament, thousands of protesters are expected to attend the Women’s March 4 Justice rally. There will be more than 40 other rallies in cities and towns across the country.
Protestors, indeed the country, are demanding that politicians address gender inequality, misogyny and dangerous workplace cultures.
These protests have been specifically sparked by the recent series of sexual assault allegations including that by Brittany Higgins who alleges she was raped inside Defense Minister Linda Reynold's office by a fellow Liberal party staffer, and the recent historical rape allegation made against Attorney-General Christian Porter. These followed the brilliant reporting on 4Corners last year by Louise Milligan, that showed the toxic work culture inside our Parliament House.
Women deserve to feel safe. Women deserve to feel that they will be believed. Women deserve equal rights and an equal place in our society.
I am not suggesting that these things do not happen on the other side of politics, indeed they are rife throughout our entire society, but our current government has recently shown itself to be nothing more than an absolute boys club, and their inaction on these matters over many years, and their treatment of women is a disgrace.
March for Justice people, more power to you.

My favourite ever episode of ABC Q&A from October 2019, with a panel of intelligent, strong women, including the amazing Mona Eltahawy and Jess Hill, discussing many issues around womens's rights, indigenous rights, patriarchy and ageism. They say it far better than I can.
This episode was banned after airing and removed from ABC websites, because some panellists advocated violence. I also issue a language warning.
Oh, and ABC can we get Fran Kelly on as a permanent Q&A host, Hamish is horrible.
After 1,5 years of inaction and almost 3 years of almost limited-coloured pieces, this was a hard time..

"Spectral (adj.) - coming from or seeming to be the spirit of a dead person." In this case, a spirit of the forest that once blanketed these parts, manifesting in the heart of the morning rush in downtown Vancouver. The tree balances on point, like much of the natural world, waiting in suspension for us to determine by our action or inaction whether to take root and flourish, or wink out in thin spiral of smoke.

This great Building's suffered some "Body Blows" lately.
RIVER CITY was 1st created as affordable Rentals, with a Marina, Grocery Store, Dry Cleaner, a GYM and other tenant amenities.
My mother lived there in the '80's and still raves about the "light" in her lovely Studio Apartment overlooking the Chicago River.
After going Condo some years ago- major Condo-Board-Infighting-led to inaction to repair lots of Concrete Damage, that later led to Rain penetrating some Multi-Level Condo's owned by (ex) Condo Board members.
Lawsuits soon followed.
MAXIMUM Dysfunction followed
up until-
GOLUB Real Estate Bought-Out
all the Condo Owners to turn back into Rentals.
Various issues- big and small occurred.
Now- it sits EMPTY- because of HIGH RIVER LEVELS and Flooding into the Basement leading to loss of Power.

The dreaded virus has certainly put paid to Model Railway exhibitions for the foreseeable future. When crowds of pensioners will be allowed to gather in church halls and exhibition venues again is anyone’s guess.
Having been denied a number of shows, this week end I assembled my exhibition “train set” and was pleased to find that after several months of inaction both it, and even my camera, still worked.
