Another from my visit to Newark. This is on Beastmarket Hill.
The building Ossington Coffee House, dates from 1881 when Charlotte, Viscountess Ossington, proposed a new café or coffee tavern in Newark. It was built close to the River Trent, opposite the castle and cattlemarket, on land bought from the Handley family. The purpose of the coffee house was to promote the cause of temperance and lure farmers away from the town’s public houses. The building has had many uses, including as stables, a hotel and a base for military personnel during both world wars.
On a plaque high up on the front of the building it reads,
"Ossington Coffee Palace. A perfect copy of a 17th Cent Hostelry erected in 1882 as a temperance hotel by Viscountess Ossington a daughter of the Fourth Duke of Portland and widow of the First Viscount Ossington one time speaker of the House Of Commons"
Currently it's Zizzi, an Italian chain restaurant for pizza.

I took this pic 2 months ago, it's my favorite but somehow it was left in my photo library and left forgotten. Fortunately I decided to tidy my library! Have a great Sunday everyone!

COMMON NAME: Bengal Tiger
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Panthera tigris tigris
TYPE: Mammals
DIET: Carnivore
AVERAGE LIFE SPAN IN THE WILD: 8 to 10 years
SIZE: Head and body: 5 to 6 feet; tail: 2 to 3 feet
WEIGHT: 240 to 500 pounds
Easily recognized by its coat of reddish-orange with dark stripes, the tiger is the largest wild cat in the world. The big cat's tail is three feet long. On average the big cat weighs 450 pounds, about the same as eight ten-year-old kids. It stands three feet tall with teeth four inches long and claws as long as house keys.
A female tiger gives birth to a litter of three or four cubs, who she will care for until they are a year-and-a-half old. These cubs quadruple in size during their first month!
The powerful predator generally hunts alone, able to bring down prey such as deer and antelope. Tigers wait until dark to hunt. The tiger sprints to an unsuspecting animal, usually pulling it off its feet with its teeth and claws. If the prey animal is large, the tiger bites its throat to kill it; smaller prey is usually killed when the tiger breaks its neck. Tigers have been known to eat up to 60 pounds of meat in one night, but more often they consume about 12 pounds during a meal. It may take days for a tiger to finish eating its kill. The cat eats until it's full, and then covers the carcass with leaves and dirt. The tiger comes back to feed some more.
Tigers live far apart from each other. A tiger knows if it is in another tiger’s territory based on the trees around him. Each tiger marks the trees in its area with urine and special scratches.

Felly Priory. Underwood, Nottinghamshire.
The Priory of Felley was founded in 1156 on the site of a small hermitage dedicated to Our Lady. It consisted of twelve canons following the Rule of St Augustine. They lived well organised lives, with a stew pond, still visible over the bottom garden wall, for the carp they ate on Fridays and a mill at the bottom of the hill.
In the Dissolution in 1535, not all of the Priory was completely destroyed. Parts were used elsewhere in the construction of the house and garden, for example, on the west side of the house between the Tudor door and chimney. The pillars at the entrance to the garden were originally part of the Priory Church and date from the late 12th Century.
The brick side of the house, next to the Jargonelle Pear Tree, dates from 1557, but it is thought that originally the Cloisters were within this area. The rest of the Priory was located towards the west end of the house. The garden now covers the site of the Priory Church. The high garden wall to the south west is believed to be part of the priory boundary wall.
The central part of the house was constructed in the 16th and 17th centuries. There is a particularly fine example of a Tudor chimney on the west side of the house. The lion and unicorn on the west side of the house date from this period.
The house was plundered during the Civil War and became an army garrison and Royalist stronghold. The stone ends of the house were added about 1860 and the garden terraced in 1890. The pond in the garden may have been constructed then. The Chaworth-Musters family became owners of the property in 1822, although they did not live there. In 1973, Major Robert Chaworth-Musters moved to Felley, having sold Annesley Hall, the family home, which is just the other side of the M1. The gardens were created thereafter by Major and Mrs Chaworth-Musters. The house is currently occupied by Major Chaworth-Musters’ grandchildren, Sophia and Victoria, together with their father and step-mother.

Sunsets in Bordeaux can be magical especially if one can be at Quai des Queyries and watch the sun drops slowly into the old town of Bordeaux over at the other bank of the river Garonne. The beauty of "Pont de Pierre" bridge simply adds to the image!
